Paul Roos saying on the couch last night that if Judd wins B&F Carlton will go backwards. It got me thinking as this is on the main board and Carlton posters immediatley responded by saying that Gibbs and Murphy should be taking their game to another level so cant see this as a problem.
For me i see Kade Simpson as equal or as good yet does not get any recognition or accolades, am i biased?
 
Needs to kick more goals, then will be considered a star. Does everything else very very well. If he does kick more goals will give the B&F a good shake this year.

I rate Simmo in our Top 5 players. In fact, I rate him higher than Gibbs! (ducks for cover). Although Gibbs has more natural ability, Simmo has it all over him for Work Ethic & On-field leadership. Also, Simmo rarely misses his opportunities when having a shot at goal both on the run and from a set shot. Would be Captain if not for Judd and Murphy. :thumbsu:
 
Robert Harvery had work ethic + onfield leadership yet Carey had more natural ability.

Alot of the greats didnt have the biggest work ethic, but in saying that a few did as well. Not the be all and end all in terms of greatness.

Simo just performs week after week, no thrills but gets the job done nearly every week.

Agreed, he's been a great player for us. He was soft as butter early days but worked his butt off, put some weight on and has a real dip for his size. If he nailed that goal opportunity most games when he gets that chance he would be considered an A grade elite midfielder but he does tend to spray them a bit
 
Was very suprised he didn't come 2nd in the BnF last year. He certainly had a ripper season, his best yet.

Only thing he needs to work on is his goal kicking. If he had a 60-70% conversion rate he'd easily be one of the top wingers in the AFL.

21.15 sounds a lot better than 17.19....

I love Simmo but he's generally quite wasteful in front of goal.

Rate him as perhaps our most courageous. Our 2nd best last year. Reason he's not included though, is that he probably doesn't have that much improvement left in him.

Gibbs and Murphy on talent should have the higher ceiling and if they play to their abilities, could challenge Judd for the B&F (or at least get close - nobody truly challenges Judd when Judd's at 100%).

If Simpson were to finish above Judd in our B&F, it'd probably indicate that Judd's had a poor season just as much as it indicates Simmo's had a good one. Still, like Scotland (and Fevola), it'd be a shame if he didn't finish his career with a B&F at Carlton, because he definitely deserves one.
 
Agreed. I think Simmo is ringing everything out of himself. Last year was a great, consistent performance, and more of the same would be great. I do not believe he has another level/gear to go to.

Murphy and Gibbs *clearly* do. I would expect them both to go past Simpson in the next 18 months, and that's great for Carlton, because odds are Simpson will maintain his very very good level.

Every club needs their foot soldiers, their under-the-radar guys, their great clubmen, their diamonds in the rough. But it's nice to have bonafide superstars in there, too!
