A little from a foxsports article

AFL talent ambassador Kevin Sheehan said

“He can do special things this boy, you don’t have to be a genius to notice that. He’s got a bit of Isaac Heeney about him – when he’s forward he’s courageous in the air, he can push up through midfield,” Sheehan said.

“He was in that group that we thought might go early tomorrow night and we all it differently.”
.......
From a SEN article

AFL Academy coach Tarkyn Lockyer has singled out two Vic Country prospects as standouts from Monday’s training session, which brought the best Victorian talent together for the first time in months.
“A couple of guys like Judson Clarke and Kai Lohmann in particular were really impressive (during Monday’s session).”

In August 2021 Kai makes Cal Twomey's Draft Team Of The Year

Club recruiters have been watching Lohmann's progress closely and he has a knack of impacting games in a Rebels side that could have one of its most successful draft hauls for several years

Looks like a one man bandwagon Section 5 :)
Not so much as he was a bit of a surprise pick from my thoughts as the draft unfolded last night

However i always back the recruiters as they obviously know way more than any of us

I thought with a lot of negativity on the draft thread about this pick i would try and find some positive stuff to talk about
This would have got lost on the draft thread although i have mentioned a few things there
His interview with the youngster LJ showed Kai is a well spoken lad
This bodes well for any media he may do in the future
Because of this he would have had a good interview with our recruiters which would have been important in their overall assessment of Kai

In addition to football ability and athleticism, both kids seem very likeable/sociable and clearly personality and fit are very high on the priority list when it comes to our recruiting. Not much point recruiting on talent alone and finding they don't gel and want to go home after two years.

Yes the modern AFL player need more than ability to be best 22
I imagine you need a bit of smarts to correctly follow game plans.
A desire and commitment to improve on all aspects of your game
Recruiters would look for leadership qualities even if not all end up in leadership groups
Other qualities so you can get the best out of yourself and fit into the team as a whole

Nothing stopping you from doing one
I started this one because of all the melts last night when Kai was selected at 20

The premature melters shot from the hip, seemingly because of the "never heard of him so he no good" principle.

Looks like this fella really does have a lot of talent AND quite a few runs on the board.

The fact that he was in the team of the year bodes well. Lot of good, high profile names in there
Just on that team of the year i posted an image of
This Cal Twomey team does change around a bit depending on how these guys performed during certain times of the year
This particular one was dated August 20 2021.
So, from that team Birt, Dib, & Becker have so far not made it to an AFL list
Just thought i would clarify that point

Can you find his last one?

Also look for the NAB League team of the year.

Knights rover Josh Ward was named captain after averaging 25.2 disposals in five NAB League games.

Part two
This is Cals last "Draft Team Of The Year". All players made it to an AFL list
Article dated September 10th 2021. I assume they may have finished playing about that time
Still has Wilmot and Lohmann in the team

Other than a couple of names there, it’s pretty much the top 21 in the draft.

Nah, I'll just post in his roster threads , isn't that what its for or only news stuff ?
Predominantly news stuff/scrapbooking, but we're not strict over it unless it gets too carried away.

Your response does answer your original question about why Darcy didn't get a welcome thread.
