Would you do this trade? Not saying I would, I'd probably want a bit more than Kane, but would you guys consider it?

Um, in a word, no.

I guess i'm coming at it from a different angle than you Spornstar - I'd want more than Camporeale for Kane.

Why? Johnson is a good player, but how could he be worth more than Camporeale? Johnson has never been considered one of the elite midfielders of the comp whilst Campo has and will again once his form returns and he gets some supply (outside players in the Carlton team such as he are missing the supply from injured players like Kouta, Ratten and Hulme - our best three in and under midfielders). Campo is less injury prone than Johnson.

Classic case of adelaide supporters thinking their player is better than they actually are.

Camporeale is a much better player than K. Johnson. If i was able to swap Johnson for Campo i would do it in a second.

BTW don't be suprised if Camporeale is looking for a change of scenery. With Bradley probably retiring (who is the guy he looks up to) and with the Blues at the bottom of the ladder he may well decide that he is actually wanting to come home rather than using the SA teams to boost his contract at Carlton.

I would love to have Camporeale at the Power, Sponstar what would the blues want for him? (feel free to move that discussion to the Power board if the adelaide supporters don't want to be involved).

NO.

I don't think Johnson will be trade bait in any deals this year. I believe he wants to stay. He was keen to go last year as Vards was going. I think he's keen to stay for 2003 and beyond.

I'd definitely do the trade.....not necessarily because Campo is that much better a player (I actually think Sugar is a better fit for our team) but Johnson always seem to pick up an injury.....and it's bloody frustrating.......at least Campo has shown he can stay on the park for quite a few consecutive weeks....(and he's a top player too BTW :p )

I don't mean to be facetious but surely if Campo was an elite midfielder of the comp then he would get in there and provide the supply himself, rather than waiting for it from others.

He's a good player, but elite midfielder?! Come on. Not in the same universe as McLeod, Voss, Kouta etc. who are "elite midfielders".

Which brings me to Kane. He is unsung because he lives in the shadows of McLeod, Goodwin and Riccuito. I think on his day and injury free he is as good as these blokes, in fact early in the season he was probably leading our best and fairest. He is one of those blokes who create supply, not waits for it to be handed to him from others.

I'd agree, we'd want more than Campo for Kane. If we were proposing the trade then fair enough, but if Carlton are coming to us then show us the draft picks!

If you want more than him then forget it. Is Buckley not an elite midfielder? He's an outside player like Campo. There is no question that in 2000, 2001 Campo was considered an elite midfielder. By that I mean in the top 10 midfielders and top 20 players in the game (Mike has put him there before in his list). One bad year doesn't make him a dud.

I certainly do not see Campo as a dud, I think he is a great player. Bad season for the team can have a psychological effect on form, he will bounce back. I just personally believe he is a step off elite.

As for Buckley, I would class him as elite, but I wouldn't necessarily refer to him as an "outside" player. Without the stats I can't be sure of this, but I'd say his hard ball gets across his entire career would be up there with just about anyone.

I would rate Kane Johnson and Camporeale as approximately equivalent.

I would not for a moment suggest that Johnson has as high as profile as Camporeale does, but that is purely simply because Camporeale plays for a high-profile Melbourne-based side, and Johnson does not.

IMO they are equivalent as far as football goes, as far as value to the team goes.

This is a viable direct trade if, and only if, both players want to come home to their respective states.

If either one doesn't want to do it for any reason at all, what would be the point?

no way!

No I wouldn't swap Kane for Scott Camporeale. Kane is a much better player in my opinion. Anyway Kane would never fit in at Carlton..............he is not Italian/Greek! He wouldn't get along with Ang and Kouta (if you get my drift :D )

Classic case of adelaide supporters thinking their player is better than they actually are.

And I remember reading the threads where the PAPs thought a direct swap of Pavlich for Josh Carr was fair.

I agree with most of this post in that they are about the same value. Also napsyd made a good point about Sugar being a player who tends to get the ball, where Campo is a player who prefers to be a receiver (& a dangerous one at that). We have plenty of winger types coming up (ie. Doughty, Gallagher, etc), so if Johnson wants to head home, we are better of trading him for a key position player as we do not lack midfielders.

I think it is Adelaide's policy that we don't mold any midfielders purely as "receivers". They have to be able to be "on the ball". It improves our rotation ability and midfield depth.

Silly post no matter which way you look at it.

Exactly Camporeale is much better.
I wouldn't expect you to say anything else Eago! Going on your Crows anti-truth theory, you actually reckon Sugar is better then. ;) :p

How did Campo play today?I fell asleep listening to the game.

Campo played pretty badly, about the first time v the Power. Don't blame you for going to sleep, you wouldn't have been the only one, shocking game.
