Kane Lucas

I'm starting to get a real hate for WC supporters and their overrated team.

I can see why your slow progress in building your list to finals performers would be frustrating. I know people have been saying it last couple of years, but the Blues have a real chance at the flag in 2012, deserved top 3 favourites with cats and pies. Eagles not too far behind, but it could be our last chance for a few years.

On topic: Lucas will stay.

I wouldn't be leaving the Hawks out of that mix.
They still look likely to trade to advantage for another player or two and with Roughie available for next year, we have a serious contender on our hands.

Latest word on Lucas: Should sign this week, but if not, the speculation steps up a gear.

Yeah true about the Hawks. I still like the Blues over the Hawks, both over the Eagles in terms of chances for next year.

Surely Lucas will sign. If not and he does come to the Eagles tough to work out a reasonable trade. My best shot at it would be:

Eagles 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and Koby Stevens

for

Lucas and blues second round pick

As a WC supporter it maybe seems a good deal for the blues, but given the near impossibility of a deal seeming fair to supporters of both teams id be interested in what blues fans thought of this one.

Would the blues be interested in Ash Smith? Only mention cos I read a rumour he could be heading to the pies (probably BS). But him and a draft pick could somehow work if Lucas wanted to go to Perth?

Honestly NFI, the "word" suggests Connors will be involved somehow. Murmurings have suggested he isnt happy there and could even walk.

Disagree - he's a decent enough defensive 3rd tall - but he's not ever going to hold down key position.

He's in between sizes and athleticism to really be strategic as a key defender or the creative rebounding 3rd tall IMO.

Incorrect,

Bowers strengths have been his athletic running/rebounding game. Great option as a 3rd tall. Also, while free from injury 2009, had some great games matching up on the likes of Franklin and Rievolt. Needs to get the quads right.

My thought was maybe a for both would be, Lucas and Bower for Stevens and Mitch Brown!!

Swapping an outside mid for an inside one and two defenders who have had a bad run with injurys who may want to return to their respective homes!

West Coast would receive run and spread in lucas, and if he stays injury free, a third tall rebounding defender with a high disposal efficiency rate

Carlton would gain the inside mid and a player, who also needs to remain injury free but may be able to play at either end for us in tandem with Henderson.

Are you crazy?

I wouldn't swap Stevens for Lucas, let alone Stevens plus picks.

As for Ash Smith, the same Ash Smith who was fantastic of HB till he got injured......no way.

You are massively overrating Lucas who is similar to Sheppard but with worse skills. Smith would be selected every day of the week before Sheppard as he would Lucas.

NFI board. Suggest you watch a replay of his last game against the Saints. Very happy if he re-signs, 200 gamer imo

Typical response - every player on WC's list is better than Lucas

For what it's worth I really hope Lucas stays, he showed in 2010 he will be a very good footballer and after an injury-ravaged season in 2011 showed late in the year that he can slot into the Carlton line-up and provide plenty.

If he demanded to go home, then Stevens wouldn't be the worst suggestion but i'm really hoping that doesn't happen. Will be an important player for the Blues for the next 10 years.

Haha, who's word is that?

Relaying info mate. I have no idea of the ins and out just heard he could be landing at richmond.

If it happens, I hope it mirrors the Grigg trade. He names Richmond as club of choice and then you will either take 2nd rounder/Connors.

Mate as an East Freo fan I can tell you I have watched both players for a loooooot longer than you.

I don't mind him as a player but he doesn't offer us anything we don't already have. Rosa is taller, fitter and has better disposal by foot if we were looking at playing Lucas on the wing.

As for the HBF, we have far better options in Smith, Hurn, Butler, Waters and even Sheppard as a developing player.

Depth atm is all he would offer us.

You could be onto something.

You'll likely get Gibbs in 2012 for Tuck and Kreuzer in 2013 for Browne.
Just keeps getting better for the Tiges.

Yeah, because Grigg is having the time of his life at Punt Rd. I'm sure Lucas is eager to join in the festivities...

Koby Stevens and a 2nd/3rd rounder i would consider. But only if a trade was requested.

Reality is as soon as a player demands a trade their value drops. Even more so if they nominate a club.

.

Actually have spoken to Grigg at a couple of end of season functions and he is enjoying himself. A top 10 finish in the B&F suggests we rate him highly just like he rates the club highly.

Has fitted in with our group dynamic, pretty popular bloke amongst the players and always seems to have a smile on his face.

Not interested in getting involved with who won the trade games, just thought I'd pass on some facts to your wild accusations. Griggy is very happy and would welcome anyone to the festivities at Punt Road.

Yeah, where from? Anywhere credible or is he in the box seat like Judd was?

Bit defensive. We all know most of the shit is bullshit that comes out around this time of year. Might happen might not.

Baaaaahahhahaha a top 10 finish in your B and F suggests your list is dogshit.

Didn'y Bachar Houli also finis top 10 or thereabouts?

Can you see a trend...?

This is why no one likes Carlton supporters. Turning a discussion into a shit fight.

Didn't Grigg get in your best most of the games he played last year when he came back in the second half? ANyway not the point of the thread. Was average this year after a pretty good start and most likely will be replaced long term or a depth player only.

If Lucas does want out as rumored his value will certainly go down. Certainly won't be fetching the pick 12 he was taken @ initially. Has played some decent games of footy though for a young kid and certainly can find the pill which is an undervalued attribute imo. His skills are ok but not amazing, but he would certainly be a very handy acquisition for any young developing team. At Richmond I would think that he would be behind Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Deledio, Conca, Tuck in the rotation but would certainly be a decent 6th string.

The rumour has actually come from a Richmond Forum and had not substantial claim behind it. I would say it is most likely rubbish as we hear a 100 rumors every trade season. If it were true however it would be difficult to see what kind of deal will be struck.

Of course he's happy, he's getting a regular game even though the aspects of his game that needed to improve, haven't actually improved :thumbsu:
