This is why no one likes Carlton supporters. Turning a discussion into a shit fight.

Didn't Grigg get in your best most of the games he played last year when he came back in the second half? ANyway not the point of the thread. Was average this year after a pretty good start and most likely will be replaced long term or a depth player only.

Only based on dreamteam stats. He got a bit of the ball but didn't do anything with it. Similar to this year with you guys I guess, but at Carlton it's not good enough to get consistent games (and high BnF finishes). Hence he left for greener (easier) pastures.

Of course he's happy, he's getting a regular game even though the aspects of his game that needed to improve to get a game at Carlton, haven't actually improved :thumbsu:

efa.

I guess Richmond just has different expectations on their players ............

As for Lucas, I hope he stays as I truely think he will be a good-great player. His composure during 2010 was what really impressed me, as he always seemed to make the correct decision under pressure. Give him a year or two to develop and I think he will improve our team's midfield.

Fair enough. His kicking style is that f***** not sure how he ever puts it in the right spot, however he didn't really turn the ball over much at all this year. Not sure what his kicking eff was but I believe it was in the 70's which isn't too bad. Still i expect him to be depth long term as we draft more mids.

Not too sure that's what Dimma would have said to him ...

So in other words it's not coming from anywhere credible like you tried to make it sound in your first post. Cheers.

You absolute clown!!! If I have read it on a piece of toilet paper or heard it from a bum on the street it doesn't ****ing matter! The point is its been said and this topic is Drafts and Trading Kane Lucas!

THEREFORE ITS EXTREMELY RELEVANT.

So in other words stick your fist up yaself. Because thats where all your content comes from. I never said anything about its credibility.

He names Richmond as club of choice and then you will either take 2nd rounder/Connors.

This is where your argument falls down RFC.

There is no way that we'd take your second rounder or Connors for Lucas.
Call Sin a clown, but you started the circus.

The rumour gained momentum due to apparently Ox talking on the radio that we've been in talks with Carlton about a trade. Then a poster on another Richmond forum said we're interested in Lucas. So naturally most put two and two together.

Most likely nothing will eventuate but neither do 90% of trades discussed prior to trade week.

Whatever pal, fact is most of those players you mentioned played against your mob about 10 weeks ago in a 100 + pt drubbing. Grigg makes bad decisions and is a suspect kick, and fact is that he left a team that is in the finals mix now, for a team that he was guaranteed to play every week. Why did he do so? Well it depends on who you ask I reckon.

Back to the thread, Lucas would be a required player, if he wants to leave then I would suggest it is the go home factor, so Freo or the Eagles would be his required destinations if my mail is correct. But should he get traded to a Melbourne club (eg Richmond) then in no way would Connors on his own be a reasonable trade.

Go Blues!

Clearly his most glaring weakness, is and still is that he turns the ball over mainly by foot and not a great decision maker, yes he gets the ball but certainly does not hurt the opposition, will not progress until he improves this area.

Sure, he has an awkward kicking action but that doesn't mean he doesn't hit the target..... I think if you check the stat's more often then not he hits the target, sure there were the odd shank and the pie floater but he still more often then not hit his target.

And I think you'll find that Hardwick used Grigg in 3 positions this year, first as a Midfielder then in the backline to learn a few defensive aspects to the game and then for a large part of the year Hardwick used him as a tagger, in which he did a mighty fine job of doing shutting down most opponents he played on whilst racking up the possessions himself.

He's the best in the AFL of hitting a target with floaters :D

Would not be shocked if Lucas wanted to join Richmond if he wanted more games but why would dainel Connors join us he had attitude problems and that last thing we need people with attitude problems

You blokes need to stop and think before posting rubbish.

Lucas will be a very good player for the Carlton football club ..so i can see why you are making up stories hoping people will believe you .

If there was a thread titled Buddy Franklin in Drafts and Trading you would probably post it there. However that one is far more inconceivable than Lucas to Richmond as he has been kept in VFL most of this season.

Surely he isn't too impressed certain players were selected above him particularly after a strong showing in rnd 24.

I think you need to watch some more football.

Grigg was very good in the early part of the year, then went back to defence to learn a few things to improve his game, came back into his preferred position and his performances spiked, then Dimma sent him in to tag again to teach him some aspects.

He played the roles very well, hence a top 10 finish in the Best and Fairest.

It is very clear to me most of the Bigfooty Carlton posters here have never played the game at any level. Just a bunch of nerds sitting behind their computer thinking they know it all.

Dimma is a great developer of talent. He see's weaknesses (its okay to have them too, everyone does, including Judd) and tries to improve their weaknesses to make them a more rounded player. You could see Grigg's defensive improvement late in the season. Great coaching yet again. I can't wait to see him improve further next season and be a component of our improvement.

As for someone having a go at Bachar Houli, well obviously that person has not watched any football in his life. Some of the football Houli played for us was breath taking. Elite even. His kicking is a thing of beauty and he knows where to run and gets a lot of the ball. Workrate is fantastic. Just cause he never was given a chance at Essendon, doesn't make him a dud. The guy has all the tools to be a fantastic player. His Best and Fairest finish was well deserved, and if given the chance, would play the same way at any club in the league.

It's because of the improvement in our players, like these two, that I see reason for optimism at Punt Road. We are very young and improving.

Actually princess you started it off "the word is" and you still can't name anywhere that it came from. It does matter because if that's the kind of places you get your info from then you're an idiot for even repeating it.

Well said Bob. It seems some carlton posters are still a bit bitter that Grigg left. It was funny prior to him leaving carlton, most of the carlton posters were talking Grigg up. Once he left, he's a turnover merchant. No doubt, he has weaknesses like you said, at least he's working on them. May not be a star, but as long as he plays his role and keeps improving he was a good pickup for the price we paid.
As for Houli...some have no idea and are just trolling for the sake of it. A psd pick and has shown plenty.

As for Lucas, who really knows, too many rumours about too many players. We can all dream a bit. But we probably won't know until the end of Trade Week. I think some journo's just float ideas and the masses pick it up.

I agree, but you're nitpicking. Everyone starts repeats rumours they've read on BF by saying "The word is..." You just didn't like it because it involved us paying unders for a Carlton player.

For what it's worth, this seems to be based around one or two posters with reasonable track records on another Richmond forum, claiming that Lucas to Richmond is "a lock," that he's angry at Carlton for playing him injured, and that Connors is "very much in Ratten's plans." Meanwhile others have Connors for Maric as "a lock," Lucas to Freo as "a lock."

So yeah. That's where it comes from. Completely unsubstantiated, but worth reading if you like that kind of thing.

:D hehe, come on mate- he did ok to avoid the scrapheap, but a breathtaking thing of beauty? :D

Houli's footskills are on par with Suckling, Davis IMO.

It wasn't one sentence Doro.
"Some of the football Houli played for us was breathtaking. Elite even..."
"His kicking was a thing of beauty..."

Come on get it right, don't misquote.

At Richmond if a player can regularly spot up another team mate and hit on the chest from 50 m it is breathtaking thing of beauty. :D
(It used to even be to get within 5 metres of a team mate once)
So our footskills are improving.
