Kane Lucas

While I'm not writing Lucas off just yet I'm still yet to see why most Carlton fans are talking about him like his the 2nd coming of Judd. Even if you see more in Lucas than gumbleton, a big kpf who can take a grab will get us closer to 17 than a hbf/wingman who plays outside but has good skills will.

I would seriously contemplate offering Lucas (with a swap of picks) for gumbleton.
Both first round draft picks who have problems getting their body right. If essendon get Lucas right would be a win for them. If we get gumby right would be a massive win for us.
Thoughts?

Good one :D:thumbsu:

Lucas is going to be a huge part of our midfield. He moves smoothly, is calm under pressure and is very athletic. Also makes good decisions and has neat disposal. He is perfect for our current side!

Lucas will be an intregal part of our midfield in the coming years, will replace scotland/simmo on the wing and provide us with that run and carry style for many years.

Id be all for gettin gumbleton but definately not in a trade for lucas, if gumby can get over his injuries he can be a decent player, however like bower i dont think his body can sustain the rigors of afl football

Did you see him last year? In the games he played, he showed so much poise, skill and read the play. Yes, injured this year and couldn't get on the park. Reminds me of a young Jimmy bartel to be honest.

Not sure if Lucas is going anywhere. I got worried by one of his answers on tac stars or whatever that show is, but we'll see. I'm guessing we would receive a first rounder for him, but firmly believe with a full preseason under his belt will make our best 22.

If Kane where to leave Carlton it would be only three clubs he would go to.

Wce and Freo are obvious with Kane having a preference for WCE being a massive fan as a junior.

The other club which hasn't been mentioned is Geelong, Kane's best friend is Mitch Duncan and those two where in seperable before being drafted, even though Mitch played for east perth and Kane for east freo.

Mitch Duncan's dad consider's Kane like another son.

Highly doubt he will leave though.

sounds alot about how people, me included, bang on about Masten and Swift.

I remembered seeing Kane interviewed just after being Drafted and when asked who he supported as a kid he said he didnt really support a team, just enjoyed watching good footy. I remembered it as it stood out from the norm. Certainly didnt pump up any WCE support.

Koby Stevens and a draft pick (3rd round or maybe our 3rd round compensation pick that we have) for Lucas?

Stevens a Victorian, possibly a bit more "inside" and had a bit more "grunt" than Lucas but possibly not as skillful.

Stick Koby where it hurts.

Lucas was simply injured this season and only recovered towards the end of the 2011 season. Any Carlton fan who talks of trading this guy doesnt know football. We need exactly his type on our list and he was recruited because he not only was best available but filled a huge need.

Barring injuries or extreme bad luck will be on a wing for the Blues round 1 next year.

Why Kobe when we could rotate Robinson, Curnow, and ellard through the middle.

Mclean for Kobe and we'll throw in a bitchslap!

Your hostility shows that you already have something lodged where it hurts.

Curnow and Ellard. Pffft! Meh. McLean? Hahahaha.

How diplomatic of him. He's not the first to say the like when reality hits that he's having to play at somewhere other than the club he supported prior to being on an AFL list.

IIRC, Kane didn't want to leave WA, and asked WC to pick him.

Harker, without going into a club bashing on here, I hold true to my statement.
In regards to actual trades;
Judd trade involved a KP forward = never should have been included and should have told Worsfold to go forth & multiply. When a young kid doesn't want to go and shows so much committment towards the club, you need to show the same back. What we did was embarrassing. Don't forget the club receiving a player walking out is apparently holding upper hand in trade!
Jacobs & Grigg trade comes to mind now.....Jacobs = not enough compensation no matter how good or bad our drafting might be with the pick. Adelaide treated us with disrespect. Grigg = well joke!. McLean trade is obviously another and there are others that luckily didn't go through like the Fevola trade - pre: Hendo/pick11.
Now as for us not being smart enough with the players we want to trade ... true again!

Anything we did to get Judd was not embarrassing.
We made the right business decision for the club that will hold up through time.
Jacobs: Don't worry about that. Let's pick it up in a year or two. Will be a massive win for us, albeit a little lucky that no one else picked up McCarthy.
Grigg? Please SB. I saw what I saw of Grigg and you what you saw. Did not fit in to the path we're on. Happy to see him go.
Fev? We did O.K. didn't we?

So it was Mclean you wanted to talk about? ;)

Lucas? Still not signed yet to the best of my knowledge, but then again neither has Waite.

IIRC both were Trinity boys who are churning out a nice footy factory out in the city.

FWIW, Lucas from what I have seen of him (which is rather limited) plays a similar role to Rosa. Very good player who isn't outstanding in anything(although Lucas does have elite endurance I think).

With Gaff on the other wing, not sure if Lucas is a desperate need as such.

If Koby Stevens and a 3rd rounder are acceptable for Lucas, why wasn't Stevens getting a game this year?

I would only trade Lucas if he demanded one or if a club was willing to give a ready made, quality KPP.

WC have an over-abundance of inside mids.

It's shocking that a 2nd year player can't get into a top 4 side's midfield.

No club is going to give a quality, ready-made KPP for a 2nd year, unproven midfielder.

GWS gave $6 million for a 2nd year, unproven midfielder ..........

That obvious was it.

Anywho I think a swap for Stevens would be fair but I can't see either club wanting to get rid of young players who have obvious talent who will both fill a hole down the track.

The hard part is convincing the players that they have a role to play and that gametime will come.
