Gasper was sacked/retired because Wallace wasnt going to promise him a game in the seniors because he felt the list needed to develop younger KPPs at the club. Clangers in fact were never raised at any stage of the press conference or were referred to at any stage by Gasper, Wallace or the Richmond football club as a reason for Gasper ending his career.

But keep it up unwoken...if this is you awake...I am certain I much prefer you when you are sound alseep. Whilst you probably dribble slobber in your sleep too its nothing compared with the rubbish and slurry that pours out of your mouth awake as you just turn real life into football fiction one post after the other.

Thinking outside the box can be good sometimes. Do you really believe that (non key position) players can only play in one position? Onballers, if they are good enough, can play anywhere (non-key). If you don't understand that, then maybe you shouldn't have bothered commenting on my football resume.

Prismall will win a B&F one day. The guy is a gun, and will prove how good he is in the next couple of years. I am certain that he can tear a team apart on the wing, flanks, or on the ball. I will come back in a year or two and be happy for you to rip me apart if i am wrong


Do you believe that Gibbs will always play back pocket for Carlton? What about guys like Hinkley becoming brilliant defenders? Brennen plays forward and back. C Cornes plays anywhere. Waite plays forward and back.

I wrote here last year about how Geelong were wasting G Ablett in the forward line just because he could kick a goal, and that he should be put in a position where he can set them up (nobody else was (setting them up)).

Would you have told me then that I had no cred because i suggested that Ablett should be an on baller? Because he played a couple of games on the flank or in the pocket, is that where he should have stayed?

Gaspar was an All Australian. Richmond have a very young side. They let him go with some dignity, which was good. Do you really believe that story> There was an uproar about his kicking errors in the weeks leading up to his sacking. Do you think the Richmond players believed that story? You know what happened to them that weekend...

The argument doesn't really hold up though. All 3 of the players you mentioned have spent a considerable amount of time learning the trade before moving to the position permanently. Ablett has has successful stints in the midfeild for years, Brennan has been shifted back and forth his entire career as had Hinkley. They didn't just all of a sudden snap there finger and excel in a new position.

Prismall is a player who has shown to be a creative goal scoring midfielder but there has been some big question marks about his accountability. What evidence is there to suggest he could make it as a HBF? Now is not the time to be experimenting in my opinion.

Midfielders do play in different positions...this has nothing to do with describing them and their strengths in a football oriented sense. Suggesting Tenace and Prismall are similar players or as DanA suggested interchangeable remains a stupid thing to say. Sides can have up to half a side full of midfielders playing in various roles...this is about Tenace and Prismall though and you simply got it wrong. Accept the fact.

I agree with you prismall is a great future prospect....this still has nothing to do with the argument he comes in to play a role like Tenace in the side.

As for rehashing the Gasper debate. If you can quote me one source from Richmond that suggests a guy AA had his career ended because of one weekend of clangers lets see it....otherwise shut up and stop talking absolute made up dribble.

It's good to see many different view points being put forward. Some people will clearly disagree with mine...

I am glad tenace has supporters, but am actually shocked.

To set the scene, he was a top ten draft pick (number 7) in 2003.

I still have no idea if he is a left or right foot kick, as his disposal is so terrible on both sides. Any stats which show his effectiveness improving I would suggest could be misleading, as his team mates are much better this year, making him (superficially) look better.

I believe he is the worst player on the Geelong list. He could potentially be one of the worst players in the AFL. His disposal is horrendously shocking. I rate him along similar lines to the ex-cat David Clarke - recruited for athletic ability and clearly not good enough; or maybe Peter Street (interesting characteristics but just not good enough).

Giving him a game before Prismall is criminal in my opinion (has happened this year).

It is very easy to get obsessed about speed etc. Was anyone listening to Tim Lane earlier this year saying that Bartel will never be a top line AFL player because he is not quick enough??? How ridiculous was this statement? Believing that Tenace is a top line player simply because he 'has' pace is just as silly IMO.

If tenace wasn't a top draft pick (and a top 10), i think he would have been gone long ago. Somebody (recruiter or coach?) is being protected, as getting rid of him would prove how bad a choice it was to get him in the first place.

Doesn't deserve another game for Geelong. Shouldn't be taken as a trade by any club. If so, will end exactly as David Clarke did.

That is the garbage that We_are_Geelong is referring too. Tenace is in our best 20-25 players without doubt and would easilt play in every other AFL side with the exception being WC. No one is saying he doesn't have deficiencies but to label him the worst player at Geelong is just bullshit.

I agree that now is not the time for experimenting, and was not directly asking for Prismall to 'replace' Tenace, but pointing out players on the Geelong list that are not in the team who i rate very highly. There are some players in the twos who really deserve a game, and IMO, tenace is not one of them. It's just the opportunity cost.

The original point was never about Prismall. The reason why i initially mentioned him is because i think he has fantastic vision and disposal. This highlights what i believe to be Tenace's main problem.

I took the previous comment re the quality of his draft, and all things considered, of the 'top' picks that year, there are not too many that have really succeeded. That was a fair point.

My point regarding the fact that the player has been at a league club for four years and still has average disposal is the one which worries me the most, and so my opinion will not change until it improves.

'You' are not Geelong, weagl. You may feel as big as Geelong sometimes, but that doesn't allow you to use We in your title. Only royalty are allowed to do that. I might suggest you use 'I am as big as Geelong' to avoid confusion, if you really feel that huge.

weagle, you left yourself as open as the Carlton backline with some of your posts. Probably the only thing that catempire has dissected lately is a meat pie, which he has probably done 10 times already today.

I am appalled at the culture in this forum. Have you guys ever read Lord of the Flies? No weagle, I am not talking about the mummy fly that bred all the ones that hover around your stench. You clearly can read. Maybe you should try it one day. Even if you do though, i doubt you will understand why i mentioned it.

I have spent the better part of a day, one that I will never get back sadly, attempting to justify my original post, which admittedly was a little silly. I was happy to concede that, but feel that i have legitimate concerns regarding the issue.

All i have got back in return is a series of personal attacks. Very few of the posts actually even attempted to address the real issue. If you wanted to attack the premise of my argument, that would have been fantastic. Unfortunately, one of the more on-topic responses (above) ended by calling my argument bullshit. I disagree, you didn't necessarily address my issue, but that's fine - at least you were on topic, and stated what you believe.


I think some people in this forum feel proud because there is a little part of the world where they think they are important. There is nothing wrong with that. What there is something wrong with is when somebody new appears in their little area, and that they feel the need to assert their 'superiority' by (trying to) demean that person.

I really hope that you guys don't treat people like this in your day to day lives. If you don't, then what is it that gives you the right to do it here? I attempted on a number of occasions to back down (simply to avoid confrontation), and give you an 'easy' victory. It is possible to be graceful in victory you know? But no, you all just had to stick the boot in again, didn't you? I said i would give you a cheap shot, not that I was a victim.

I think that some of you guys need to have a think about how this forum operates.

How about a welcoming culture? Hey man, I am a Geelong fan. This could be a fantastic year for the club we support. We all want to see our team do well. If you disagree with a post, why not react like DanA did, and actually point out what your issue is, rather than continually attack a person who is asking you to back off? Smug backhanders are generally better if they have wit to back them up weagl.

How about being kind or considerate to new people? Or maybe just telling them that they have gone too far, and giving a decent argument in response?

If one person flames another, is it really ok to jump in with your own?
