Tenace out for Hunt, so some people get there 'wish'.

Now Hunt gets his chance, you would hope he takes it with both hands or Hunt will have to put up with threads like this one ;).

Haha!
And if he doesn't then ppl will be calling for Tenace to come back in for him!
:p

Exactly mate. At the moment Hunt and Tenace are both on the 'fringe' of the side shall we say so it will be some time before we get a real chance to see what relevance there was to any of this discussion! Probably by September I suspect.

I've got no problem with Hunt being promoted, but will he get the same sort of scrutiny Tenace has? From time to time Hunt has been guilty of the odd clanger or two so we'll see what happens. Hopefully he's at his best tomorrow.

It'll take more than a few outstanding performances in the reserves for Tenace to get back on the radar I'm afraid, regardless of how Hunt goes.

Tenace showed too many deficiencies last week and has plenty to work on.

He will be from me, I was one that called for his dropping originally. His claim to fame is his overrated disposal, he better not cough up the ball as he did earlier in the year. :(

Hunt's kicking effeciency last year was 88% which makes him one of the elite in the AFL for that category. Tenace's was 73% which is well below average.

You show such accuracy in your trolling.

Instead of attempting to preempt Hunt's failure and take the "I told you so" highground when he doesn't have a perfect game this week, why don't you cut the guy some slack!

Hunt's form this year has been good and he has not put in any performances this year that warrants this comment.

I was joking.

You could hardly call his form this year "good".
It obviously wasn't good enough early on or else he wouldnt've gotten dropped.
She was hardly trolling, simply stating she'll be watching his performances with a keen eye... Stop being so serious chief... :p

She is a he ( Paul Sarah, No13, 128games,204gls )
Simply stating my opinion that his disposal is overrated, certainly hardly ever used to it's maximum efficientcy.

Yes, how could we expect any less than 100%, 88% efficiency must be terrible compared to the rest of the league.. :)

No need to repeat yourself I read it the first time.
Stats,stats... Blaa.. blaa...blaa,
I've seen this player break into the clear, stop like a frightened rabbit and be forced to shoot out piddly handball or 15-20 meter kicks that land at the foot of the other players (which would still be considered effective). I don't like him as a player,he's no good under pressure and that is my opinion. That is not trolling.

Yeah, and I've read posts from people on bigfooty where they've made a statement, been proven wrong and dribbled crap to try and dig their way out of a hole. :D

If and when I am proven wrong I have no problem eating HUMBLE PIE. I have done so earlier in the year with Ling.
I would like nothing more than Hunt being a strong, long kicking, line breaking HB. We have a shortage of quality small/medium defenders. There is no doubt that the ingredients are there,It's the strength of mind that concerns me. ;)

Yes I agree with you about the state of mind concern.. This is his biggest hurdle..

In the coach’s words, Hunt was sent back to the VFL to “work on some things”.

I doubt it was his kicking specifically, although he could use this weapon more dangerously.

I would suggest it would have more to do with the little things – his presence at contests and 1%ers. When I saw him in the VFL a few weeks back, I could see him making a concerted effort in these areas so I hope he has done what the coaching staff have asked of him.

I agree.
Good call...

Yep, you did that exactly. So one player that has similar capabilities to Tenace is ... Shannon Byrnes ... and we all know where he is ... so if they both play the same way, both have pace, but both have poor disposal ... shouldn't that mean that Tenace shouldn't be in the firsts? For the same reasons that Byrnes aren't? For having a lot of chances and not doing enough?

Yeah, you'd think so, personally don't see a lot of difference between them to be truthful.

One can see what the club was/are attempting to do though and they apparently thought Tenace was the better of the two options; guess it's all academic now with Tenace's omission, although I'm wondering if it's a "horses for courses" decision, Geelong and Collingwood are the number one and two teams at winning the contested footy, which suggests it's going to be a war of attrition tomorrow, that plus the predicted conditions would suggest that a strong body such as Hunt would be better value.

Wouldn't stun me if they reverted back next week in perfect conditions against a fast running side like Footscray, if so they could probably do worse then give Byrnes a chance to see how he handles the same role that Tenace has been playing.

Good post. I dont agree that Byrnes is a running half back flanker in the making though (please dont ask me why!) but someone else who said Djerrkura would be is right...but thats down the track.

I agree that the conditions and the probable contested style of the game have contributed to Hunt being picked. I think the main reason is Collingwood have such good small forwards we needed a proper backman in to curtail them and defend basically.

Now that Hunt is back he should be given at least a few weeks to show his worth. Tenace has probably been given a similar list of things to work on as Hunt was given 6 weeks away.

The concept that without Hunt even playing a minute of football yet that this proves someone right or wrong in this discussion sounds very familiar...like immature I mean...get a life or stop taking on line life so seriously as someone has already hinted to you this morning. Lighten up. We all have an opinion and get fired up...this sounds incredibly ironic and hypocritical perhaps coming from me...but really I dont take anything that gets said on here personally. If it was face to face that might be different...but in reality I am glad to have people to argue or chat with about the game.

It wont be till September that Geelong shows its hand proper and until then we can talk as much cr@p about it as we like but the proof of the pudding will be on the footy field and not because any one of us said so...as if I need to spell that out but it seems that I do...;)

When I first saw Djerrkura he reminded me of Wirrapanda when he first started.
I'm very surprised that the club have not experimented with him as a running back.He has been a bit unfortunate having copped some injuries and therefore been unable to string alot of games together.
There is a glaring whole in the makeup of the side, and that is the small/medium defender that can run and link and I have no doubt that in the next few years Djerrkura will be that man.

For sure...and thats what they have been trying to fix.
