I was just wondering if anyone knew how these young roos that we have drafted over the last few years are going ect ect

Daniel Motlop(looks the goods)
Ashley Watson(very skinny)
Rod Crowe(apparently arch 2nd)
Dylan Smith(looks like he is ok)
Daniel Harris(Gun u/18 played some good games but where now???)
Hugh Foot(apparent development player)
David Hale(very high pick last year, was he worth it???)
Daniel Pratt(never seen him except i know from QLD as is Hale but there no nick Riewoltd)

A few of them i know but really when are some of these guys going to fill the holes in our team.

Who do we need ie. I think Key poisition FOrwards/Backs, to trade or draft
Who do we give the flick ie Shane Clayton, Winnie(can he ever get better), like to know what you all think

How are ya mate? im good :)
I have been keeping a very close eye on the development of the younger brigade at North Melbourne, and mate let me tell you there isnt really anything exciting to look forward to next year for the fact that Pagan did make a lot of bad choices come draft day.

Daniel Motlop: will be given more game time next year as opposed to this year when osteotis pubis set him back during the pre season and 1st 3- 4 weeks of the homw and away season, needs to be playing more often with older brother Shannon like the krakouers to build a solid reputation.
Daniel Harris: well everyone keeps saying that he looked the goods after last years 1st 2 rounds of the season but thefact of the matter is that he tired out and basically he kicks the ball 30 metres long, and 70 metres high (needs to improve fitness, pace, and agility if he is to take over a spot in the classy midfield.
Dylan smith: well he is much the same as Harris, bein that he is too short, and to small build wise!! he is another player who just wont crack it in the middle unless he is given signifigant oppurtunities to impress there and win a lot of the ball, he also has a useless kicking style.
Hugh Foott: well there isnt really much to tell about this young man, just that he will obviously take time to become some sort of a player, but we will allow him that time considering he wasnt the best player taken in the draft afterall he was taken at about pick number 88 in the draft, so give him a few years and then we will see what eventuates.
David Hale: This bloke reminds me of paul salmon and josh fraser put together, and in answer to your question was he worth being drafted number 7 in the draft? well you cant really determine that until he gets a few games under his belt . . . people keep saying that north have already got enough ruckman well No we dont: Burton will be finished in 2-3 years.... Porter will be like 28 then, Petrie is developing into a key forward at the moment but will be moved into the ruck at somestage over the next few years, and then there`s Hale, gee i saw this kid dominate some reserves games and was very unlucky not to get a senior birth on more than 1 occasion, i think we have something special on the horizon with this big monster.
Ashley Watson: This kid had huge wraps as a junior coming through the ranks, i know someone who played against him and he said that he was really effective with his disposal and in my opinion he reminds me a bit of Leigh Harding the way he moves, expect to see him given 6 or more games next season.
Rod Crowe: Well Rod has been dubbed the next Glen archer... Hmmmmmmm i dont know about that but i only hope that he can stand up like alot of the other young draftees so that our defence doesnt get to lost if Micky decides to leave, because then it would free up the likes of Archer, Colbert, Teague. Crowe needs to improve on his pace off the mark if he is to become a regular key defender.
Daniel Pratt: Pratty has got great endurance, and leg speed, and is the perfect size to become a good utility eg: Mark Roberts, but once again hasnt played a senior game yet so we cant really judge him off reserves games. Expect Laidley to give him the challenge of playing on a few big names in the 2003 wizard cup to see if he can cope with the pressures of AFL football.

Now in answer to your other question as to who we should get rid of..... im thinkin something along the lines of: these are all together: traded, delisted, retired =
David Bourke, Jason McCartney, Staurt Cochrane, Adam Lange, Shannon Watt, Brady Rawlings, Joe Mclaren, Wayne Carey, John Blakey.
I know people bag Shane Clayton but in my opinion he is a very good reader of the ball and has the ability to creat the space that we really need eg: Like carracella does at Essendon...... Clayton has served this club well and has played in a premiersip and is moving closer to playing 100 games with north, and he gets at least 15-18 possesions per game + 1 goal, thats a pretty good result. Now if people start saying that clayton is weak and whatever else then they neednt look any further than Shannon Motlop, he is as weak as water also and yet they dont put him in the GET RID OF BRACKET!!
strange, very strange.

skarks_69, do you ever get writers cramp?

I agree with that

On his debut the banner should say
Hale The New King

I reckon Hale was well worth it.. as far as I know he was the only guy to be drafted from QLD in the 01 draft.. and he had huge wraps on him.. neway he kicked 5 goals in his VFL debut.. if he can do that in his snr debut and continue on.. whos complaining?

Go Roos

thanks sharks, just the indepth response i was looking for.
I agree with most of what you have said also. I think that our policy in that draft two years ago left a lot to be deisred but good too see thet they will be given a chance cause knowing/watching a few of them i know they are quite good and can play.

Have to disagree with you there tashi.
Hale is not the new king if you are referring to carey as the king.
Hale will be the next Hale.
Correct me if I am wrong but was Carey ever referred to as the next Blight or Shimma Or Greig?
lets keep our feet on the ground:cool:

No.. I was not referring to Hale as the new Carey King.. I hate Carey (and have done since the preseason) and would never refer to ne1 as the new Carey..

:)

Geez hate to put pressure on the bloke.

In his debut game having Hale the new king. poor bloke would probably injur himself and never play again.

I think he should be alllowed to mature naturally, after all it takes longer for the taller blokes to do so.

Expect maybe a handful of games from the #31 next season.

I don't agree at all i think there is a lot to get excited about next year. Last year we picked up two young physically immature kid's with heap's of talent Hale and Watson, they were never going to play senior football last season. With the one or two first round draft pick's we pick up for Carey, next season it's like we're going to have four or five first round draft pick's. Together with a new coach with fire in the belly to invigorate the older player's, mate if that doesn't get you excited God only know's what would.
