Kanye West tour

Yeah my mates that went last night said it was amazing and made their trip over there more than worth it.

Which, when you consider that they're all tigers supporters and went over specifically for the Port Adelaide game, must mean it was quite spectacular. Wednesday night come at me

Surprised there's a thread for this on here.. thought this forum was full of 50 year olds

Heard that Pusha came out and did runaway with Kanye in adelaide :( didn't do that in Perth

Don't care really, was ****ing amazing. Was standing about 2m away from the GOAT (and pusha pointed at me! no one around me knew any songs lol)

I would love some more MBDTF in the set tomorrow night, but in terms of the three songs I'd love most to be added to the setlist, they'd be:

1. Flashing Lights
2. Crack Music
3. Lost in the World

just a few notes on Kanye while I’m awake and still remembering:

– ranted about organisers and promoters. rant was peppered with a bunch of variations of “**** you, **** you, **** you” in autotune. dude seemed in a good mood so he didn’t have a lot to complain about other than the fact he’s been making albums for a decade and he likes it. nothing big, really

– two screens

– he is obsessed with circle pits. played Blood On The Leaves twice in the regular set to do it, and maybe… twice times in the encore? five? he’s like a little kid with them. did fellows In Paris twice and a half, nearly three times – “nah I think y’all got that, ‘nother circle pit! make a circle!” he actually sounded giddy when he said it

– douches took off their shirts in the middle of the pit. no, you’re not impressing anyone and girls don’t think it’s cool

– so many circles suck. so tiring. no one wants to accidentally hit a girl in the head with a stray elbow

– basically a sick show, the final five set of songs is so good… it makes you realise how many big pop songs he’s churned out. I maintain it’s still a massive feat for a black rapper to have songs that big, in the white pop-culture cannon that extends from trendy 20-year olds (so many white t-shirts!) to housewives in Wyoming and mums and dads in Australia… the way he did and has done it so much is a testament

– his ego, gall… entertaining

– that walk

– really diverse crowd. it’s nice how rap does that more than the boney domain of indie rock. still, though, probably the most obvious age demographic I might ever see at a show (unless I go see Odd Future). 19-22 almost exclusively

– great show, Melbs with the W, GOAT. KTT

– great fun, really

– why do all shows, at all venues with different genres and crowds and demographics and perfumes and perspirations end up smelling the same at the end?

– similarly, what’s better than feeling crook after a show, walking into that fresh air, and walking home talking about the show? maybe the show itself and when you start jumping before the bit you’re jumping to comes on…

Man what a sick show. Definitely up there with my favourite gigs ever. Second half of the show was probably better just because it got everyone singing (was mostly old hits after halfway). His 'rant', if you could call it that, was a little bit funny and a little bit stupid. He would have said "don't **** with me" about 50 times in a strange autotune melody and was preaching love and respect. He did seem very happy tonight, it was cool.

I would have been about 10 metres from the end of the stage maybe? It was actually a great view, could get there at a relatively civil time and still have a pretty awesome spot to watch from. Those circle pits... well... there's always one w***er (as Silent Alarm mentioned) who loves to get their kit off and dance around like a fool. And by the third time in a row that Ye asked for a 'bigger circle' during the fellows In Paris encore, it was perhaps a little tedious.

But overall the show was awesome. Pusha T was superb, much better than I expected, played all his hits as well as his verse from So Appalled which was a big surprise as I didn't think he'd play a Kanye song at a Kanye show (even though there was no way Ye was going to be playing it). He then rejoined Kanye later on for his verse on Runaway.

In terms of crowd highlights from the floor, probably Stronger and Touch the Sky got everyone up and about the most, as well as the opener Black Skinhead. Oh and Bound 2.

I thought he only played blood on the leaves 2 or 3 times total.

He restarted it at least three times during the encore and maybe once earlier during the regular set, counts as maybe two or three on the setlist but it sure as hell felt like he played it five times... which was great because I couldn't get enough of it.

I was little disappointed in the lack of material from Yeezus, would have loved I Am a God or Hold My Liquor over something like Run This Town, but all in all it was a really strong, fast-movinig setlist with a heavy emphasis on hits, so there was never a loll moment. The screens were also pretty impressive and minimalist although for some reason they were almost always resorted to negative colours for crowd and stage shots, made for some underwhelming images, at least from where I was... I had shit, shit seats.

If I felt like he was prone to changing his setlist, and I had the expenditure, I would go again tonight, but overall I feel I go on living happily with what I saw last night; well worth it.

"This is rap music... make a circle" - will be my lasting impression from the night.

Anything different in the set compared to last night? How was his rant?

Not too sure not really sure what was played last night. Played run this town and got blood on the leaves about three times at the end before fellows in Paris about 4 times.

As you guys said as soon as he made the circles flogs had their shirts off ready to go but it was still highly enjoyable.

Wasn't much of a rant from what I could hear a lot of love, respect and reflection on his career. Still went for 10 minutes or so.

Odd highlight of the night was seeing four ****wits say "now that's a huge bitch" to some tall girl... Not realising it was Liz Cambage who turned and dared them all to say it to her face. Naturally they all backed down and were eventually booted out to the crowds delight.

She was leading the charge with those circles too.

Apparantley he didn't play On Sight or Heartless.

Interesting about Heartless, that'd mean no representation of 808s in the set (a criminally underrated album). It was actually a really good singalong on Tuesday night, one of the highlights
