Both beautiful to watch weren't they?

This guy is doing so well. And he plays it fair too. When he hit Swallow he was the first to commiserate with him....

I am fast becoming a fan of Karmichael Hunt.

Agree he pulled out of the Swallow one, nothing in it, North sooking about this is equal to Carlton sooking about Lonergan. Re-watching that Monfries hit, it is textbook. Im glad Hunt is playing AFL, need more competitive animals like this rather than robot like athletes that have been introduced to the game.

Agree with this, Hunt is playing the game like it's meant to be played physical not touch footy which is the direction the AFL seem to be taking.

He will never be a star but he will be a hell of a handy player. Every team would love someone who is hard and hits hard and fair. As GC develop he is just what they need. Gives the other mids a little more room to move and will inspire a bit of hardness in them as well.

Living on the GC I get to see him week in week out. I love to watch him play. getting better all the time. And I feeel alot safer with the ball in his hands than Brennan, He is out of control.

I would not be so sure of that, has still only played 20 games. He was one of the best readers of the play and smartest players in rugby league. He has a very high ceiling in this regard.

Give him another year in AFL and I think he will be a substantially better player than he is now.

In a couple of years, fans will be asking who they have on their team who can fill the Karmichael Hunt role.

When he gets it right, he changes the rules - for some of the game, he can ensure the the sub rule for one team isnt 3+1, it's 2+1, or 3+0.

He may also be the solution to midfield congestion - those short-area hits are ideal for a clogged midfield against a player pursuing the ball carrier. With more space between players, the victim can read-and-react much more effectively.

Anyway I think it was another good game by Hunt tonight. The commentators are over the top about him though. Can't contain themselves every time he gets near the ball.

Agree. He's been playing VFL/AFL for three years now, he played as a junior and if he wasn't showing signs of grasping what it's all about by now, it would be cause for serious concern. I hate it how the commentators can't just refer to him by his surname (or in exceptional circumstance, their nickname), like they would with anyone else and I hate how Dermott Brereton has to refer to him being a former rugby/league player sixty times a game when he's commentating. He plays AFL now, judge him on that.

Calm down and go search Youtube for Byron Pickett. Hunt would probably try and line him up, come off second best and never try it again.

Hunt's had a couple of good hits but he has nothing on one of the most underrated players of the past twenty years. You want to talk about fear, Archer said he tried to avoid Choppy in the warm up.

You know the commentators will have calmed down when they stop referring to him by his full name.

I'm fairly sure that's a directive to avoid the dreaded K-unt like Ray Warren dropped in SoO.

Oh, Im not saying that Hunt is the only player to have played Enforcer. Im just saying he's the one the kids these days will think of :)

The one thing I liked (on top of the many things he did that I liked) last night was when it was his turn to go and put his body on the line, there was no hesitation.

He copped a big hit to the head at one stage, and really, I have seen many stay down from much less. He got up, shook it off, and kept playing.

Loving Karmichael in the AFL. He is bringing a different sort of toughness, and I'm loving watching him play.

That hit would have had many other players stretchered off in a neck brace. He is legitimately as tough as they come, and plays the ball not the man. He copped a mid-air full body hit to the head and chest in a practice game against the Lions last year, and after a couple of seconds on the ground with many thinking him dead, got up, shook his head and continued on. Simon Black likened it to a car crash. We heard the thud from 80 metres away.

Good man, that Karmichael. Need more like him.

The very same commentators and media personalities that called him a waste of time and would be out of the game soon are the same ones giving glowing reports everytime he goes near a contest. That's what annoys me, anyone with a brain held their judgement and now are saying he has become an ok player. It's like most "experts" only can think in extremes. He is either the worst player to ever play or a god and the greatest player ever.

He didn't really. He played a few games for his school which in Brisbane is substantially below what they've got in Victoria and that was about it.

Well that's the worst post I've ever read on BF!

Or maybe the best. ;)

Certainly looked the part last night. Was very impressed.

He has been great over the past month! He's seriously becoming like my favourite non Crow. :D I love his commitment, his commitment to getting into supreme shape, and his dedication to improve as a player, and you can see the passion he plays with, it's fantastic.

Very impressed. Getting better each week. Good for him. Nothing in the hit either.

And from the MRP

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/134421/default.aspx

"Contact between the Gold Coast Suns' Karmichael Hunt and North Melbourne's Andrew Swallow from the third quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. The ball is bounced in the middle of the ground and player Swallow is bending to collect the ball as he is tackled by the Suns' Josh Caddy. Player Hunt is coming to the contest from the side and tries to avoid making contact with the pair of players as they go to the ground. It was the view of the panel that the contact was caused by circumstances outside the control of player Hunt. No further action was taken."

I am really impressed with how he has come on..
I always hoped he would make it (and Izzy too of course) and he really looks like he's loving it out there, which is great to see! He's a really smart, driven person and the Suns are so much better with him in their team!

Funny you should say that. Watching the replay of the last minute of Saturdays game, I wonder every time what would have happened if Brennan took that mark in the forward 50 and had to line up after the siren!

I'm glad it was K! Probably from watching hom at training, and just his natural composure, he would have been in my top 3 players I'd want to take that shot after the siren, behind Gazza and Swallow
