any bloke who shows a bit in a grand final, green was pretty good in the first quarter if i remember correctly already has it over all but 5or6 blokes on our list who were rubbish in the 03 grand final

get blokes that want to play footy and can offer us something, back pocket for green if he is quick enough to play on matera'a, milnes, yze etc sounds good

But Pieman we already have enough medium defenders we need a very talented small defender or a med. who has the creative flash out of defence rather than just being a spoiler..

Swan H Shaw O'Brien R Shaw (when he recovers) Johnson are sufficent. Plus Maxwell and Clement can play on shorter opponents. Plus Rusling Rowe Iaccobucci and even possibly Egan are possibilities to play the small defender role in the future. Plus Holland, and the veterans Licuria Burns and Buckley as small defence options too. And Chad Morrison - hes not the worst player to ever pull on a pair of boots. Plenty of choice from within, we dont need a 25 year old, we may as well draft more kids for this type of role.

Hmmm, I remember Ryan O'Keefe slicing and dicing StKilda and then having a fairly quiet grand final, who was he playing on, wasn't it Kasey Green?
Counter argument would be why wasn't he retained if he was so good?

Fact is, I dun want to see it on principle alone. MM has to ween off his addiction for washed up WCE players!

And he's hardly old man river at 26 and who are our small defenders at the moment,Ben Johnson wants to play up the ground so that leaves Lockyer, Swan and Heath Shaw with Maxwell and Clement able to play on small forwards and Lonie and Rhyce Shaw more suited to half back or wing. Every time we come up against a dangerous midget Jimmy gets the job and the opposition are happy to see him on the last line and out of the action. Green could do that job and leave Clement to patrol half back where we can continue to use his drive.

Just on Green's job on O'Keefe in the GF; I thought Green was very good. He came in for his first AFL match in a long while and had an immediate effect. O'Keefe was concussed in the first quarter..Green still played with enthusiam, had good skills without being brilliant and was defensive enough.
