Kato lets rip at Clarke

The recent Australian selectors had to make some serious decisions on players for the future of the Australian cricket team. They basically decided that the team was too top heavy with mature players and one had to go, and that was Simon Katich.
Katich and his management have recently thrown a few punches verbally towards Michael Clarke and Cricket Australia for not following up his non selection. Katich claims there was not much communication after his departure. Do people get a call from their past employers when they are retrenched or sacked? He clearly hasn't worked it out. Players of today can be a little precious at times. They want everything and nine times out of 10, they get it.

Maybe the selectors got it right. In Katich's last seven innings, he averaged only 29. I averaged over 85 from my last seven hits and he calls himself poorly treated? Maybe Katich should talk to guys like Tom Moody, Jamie Siddons and Jamie Cox about how they were treated. Then he might think he has been treated better than he first thought.

Let me tell you from experience it is awful being dropped. I was dropped seven times from the ODI team from 1986 to '94. I was ranked the No. 1 player in the world by the ICC for four years during that time. I never got any feedback and never wanted it. I realised that no matter what you say, it won't change their opinion. So why waste the energy? When your captain and coach don't want you, then it's time to go. Test cricket was taken away from me and I didn't just want to play ODI cricket so I retired.
57 innings before those seve he'd averaged 54.4, not to shabby, but 7 innings when not fully fit changes all that?

Hussey went 3 years and over 30 tests averaging 35. Pontings averaged 38 with only two centuries over his past 23 tests. You can see exactly why Katich was pissed off at the time of his dropping, he'd been our best bat and they dropped him first chance they got.

Yea, what an absolutely shit article by Deano.

When somebody picks a number out of their arse to give a stat, and it's not a number of any significance, then it's pretty obvious they're avoiding the real stats to support their dubious article.

Deano was my absolute favourite player as a kid - when I grew up, I realised the reason he was constantly in and out of the side was because he was a huge, huge pain in the arse.

Do people get a call from their past employers when they are retrenched or sacked?

And that's just plain stupid; comparing 'real life' jobs to elite sporting jobs is a waste of time, the comparison is useless.

Again, we should've dropped senior players ages ago; North should've never been in the side, Hussey should've been dropped before the Ashes (I know, I know, thank christ he wasn't), and we should've dropped Ponting down the order a long time ago.

Cummins is the beneficiary of Hilditch and his idiot mates trying desperately to leave a legacy which proves they haven't completed screwed up and wasted the last ~4 years - Katich is the casualty, he was dropped to prove the same thing; and hey, they had the balls to drop one of the worlds best batsmen because he's old - they must be ruthless and switched on.

Could just go to the Pub with a mate after we got our arses handed to us in the most important Test we play?

Symonds made a couple of massive blunders, but if you think the last ones weren't a result of the way he was treated by Cricket Australia and some of his mates, you're crazy.

Or is it his fault he was racially villified and then completely hung out to dry?

The way Symonds was treated by CA so as not to upset the BCCI was an absolute disgrace, was no surprise that he went off the rails that quick in the end.

He's the second highest run scorer in the World for the last two years. Concentrating on making runs won't make a skerret of difference. The part nobody seems to understand is that this isnt a form issue, therefore it has to be a personal issue, and if the Australian Captain, can't put the team ahead of himself, and personality clashes to the side, then who can. If this kind of prima donna behaviour doesn't call his captaincy into question, then Im not sure what does. Personality clashes have always existed in The Australian Cricket Team, but they have always been dealt with and kept in house because the leaders of the day, ie: Border, Taylor, Waugh, Ponting etc, were men who put their own agendas second to the benefit of the team. I repeat Katich is the second highest run scorer in the world fo the past two summers..............ahead of some very illustrious names I might add. Form should always be the pre requisite to picking your best team, and I dont think this is happening in Aussie Cricket these days. Might give a little insight into our dramatic fall from grace in world standings................dont ya think.

To the first bolded part, perhaps he should have pulled out a sleeping bag and slept in the change rooms overnight to show his true commitment to the team? Try making your Clarke hate a little less obvious.

To the second bolded part, Katich brought this up again and sooked about not being in the team....but, Clarke is the prima donna because...?

We just got thrashed in a home Ashes series.
Heads were always going to roll.

The fact that we had three 36 year olds in our top 4, meant that at least one of them was going to go. Hussey has scored runs at the right time, so Katich became the guy in the firing line.

Ponting survived due to seniority.

In any other work place in the country, if you grabbed a colleague by the throat, you wouldn't have a job the next day.

.

MMMMM. So scoring runs is not the only reason a player should be picked or not picked ? Being a pain in the arse by say...... grabbing a team mate by the throat for example.

How long do the selectors have to keep Clarke (due to the stupid 'anointing' thing from a few years back) before they can drop him for someone actually capable of being captain?

Yes we all know how he prizes his public image above the team, nothing wrong with that I guess, but not the sort of thing you look for in a captain. I like your allusion to his apology for not walking instead of worrying about chucking his wicket away at a crucial point in the game, MWNN, very clever. :thumbsu:
