The guy on the left right behind KB has been at the club for years - i would suggest maybe 20 - and probably as a volunteer or getting almost nothing for what he does.

Where do you get off bagging someone who devotes their time to the club and why do you bag them - because of how they do their job ? No because of how they look.

Pathetic.
Spot on, PJ

That's Rolan Weekes. Helluva good bloke. Goes with the club everywhere, runs water at training and every game.

For nothing.

Smart bloke, too.

Tip your hat the next time you see him - he's more passionate than any of us

Yeah fair point, was waiting to be corrected, just didn't know who they were and thought they looked really out of of place in an elite sporting environment....and you gotta say, if his only role was museum currator then it would be pretty weird to have the bloke on board on an interstate trip regardless of how he fronts up.

Never actually bagged either of them for how they looked beyong saying they're a bit goofy looking (nothing wrong with that). I look as scozza as the next bloke a lot of the time, and can scrub alright as well I guess every now and then.. Its just these two looked more at place at a Slayer concert in the 80s than in a modern footy club room and looked really bored in the vid. Sheesh, nothing personel against them as people.....

Yeah we absolutely need volunteers and I definitely tip my hat to anyone who's devoted 20 years to the club for nix, didn't know this still existed in this day and age. Will definitely buy Roland a beer if I see him at the cricketers/royal at any stage...

So ease up, just a bit of fun, sorry if anyone took offense at this. :thumbsu:

freezer's obviously some kind of hom..er... I mean metrosexual.
Nah my missus really would like me to spend more time in the gym, in buying clothes, etc.... Too lazy and spend most of my spare cash in the pub unfortunately.

Ha, regardless, who cares if I was gay? Same thing as bagging someone for the way they look isn't it....

..or you asking me for a date Mario?!

Well done Freezer - it says something about you that you could come back with this.

Many others would have gotten angry or just ignored.

All good, tbh am pretty jealous of Roland, would love to spend a footy day in his shoes seeing the inner workings of the club, and would have a been unbelievable seeing the boys belt out the song last saturday live! Good on him.

He's certainly given more for the club by the sound of things than KB has over the last 20 years.

My take on it is that he has buried the hatchet and so should we. Watching some of those you tube highlights made me really stoked to have him back in the fold.

I can remember in about 1977 or 78, when I started barracking for the Tigers and I wanted 29 on my jumper. my nana said 'no, he wont be playing much longer, pick someone else!'. Ended up with Barry Rowlings 2 instead...
that would be No 22 partner, fairly popular choice of the time...I had No 2 Robbie Wiley, No 11 Bruce Monteath before that, No 17 Alan Edwards and before that Bones Richardson...wanted No 21 Neil Balme, my old man said NO Way:rolleyes:

Yeah he's really jumped on the bandwagon....what with us flying towards the flag and all....
Missed my point Mario, truth is we are a funny lot at Richmond, so desperate for success that we will cling to anything that remotely tasted some kind of winning feeling from our past, no matter how much shit they give us we will always welcome them back and treat them like gods.

Shame you cant bump old threads anymore, I know a thread from a few years back that would make a few on this board look like hypocrites. :thumbsu:

Sure he is back, thats great, but FFS we would be no better off if he was or not. All it does is make some of us feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

:thumbsu:THE forward line that day contained something like Roach, Cloke, Jess, Bartlett, Rowlings and Wiley .... how the f*** we stuffed it all up has me beat.
Cloke doing his knee in 81 was the end of that season, brief recovery in 82 as runners up then by 83 Bartlett too old, Cloke and Raines off to the Pies etc etc
The club historian is a guy called Bill Meaklin or something. Maybe that's him?
Good get - It's Bill Meaklim and Bill would be well into his 60s so neither are him. Someone else mentioned Roland Weekes as one, not sure of the other. Bill used to be the head statistician. 20 odd years ago I was on the stats team with Bill. Different era, there were heaps of volunteers doing game day jobs back then, not just stats but trainers, dressing room door etc. For interstate games just Bill and maybe one other would go along and do stats. Obviously more professional environment now, but i'd like to think there is still opportunity for committed fans to volunteer and be involved in some capacity on game day.
