yeah ash hobbs did have a good year but jimmy cullum had a better on i reckon

I think we would have nominated Hobbsy, but he has been a regular senior player for Euroa in the GVFL since he was 15 years old. So he doesn't really qualify as a rookie to senior footy...

Who's going to win this weekend?

My tips:

Qualifying Final:
1sts = Undera vs Lancaster 24pts
2nds = Undera vs Stanhope 37pts
3rds = Lancaster vs Avenel 45pts

Elimination Final:
1sts = Stanhope vs Murchison 12pts
2nds Tallygaroopna vs Lancaster 25pts
3rds = Rushworth vs Stanhope 20pts

Qualifying Final:
1sts = Undera vs Lancaster 10pts
2nds = Undera vs Stanhope 20pts

Stanhope by 50? Will be closer than that, considering Murch won during the year.

Qualifying Final:
1sts = Undera vs Lancaster 20pts - Too strong over the ball for Lancy, LaPorta in form
2nds = Undera vs Stanhope 6pts - Gringo the deciding factor
3rds = Lancaster vs Avenel 10pts - Avenel have some bigger bodies, should suit finals footy.

Elimination Final:
1sts = Stanhope vs Murchison 14pts - Bias, win during the year means we are capable
2nds Tallygaroopna vs Lancaster 25pts - Tally beat them easily last week..may finally end the Rusty show?
3rds = Rushworth vs Stanhope 10pts - Our thirds played them last week and they flogged us, got some really good/big kids playing for them

Bit of an upset Lancy winning?

Pity Murch didn't put up more of an effort, but then again they probably didn't deserve to be there:D

I thought Lancy was an upset yes, good on them finding form at the right end of the year. Makes for an interesting few weeks ahead..Nagambie still the team to beat but the gap between 2,3,4 has narrowed. Stanhope aren't without a chance either.

Now, were you at the game yesterday? I thought we had the run of it for the majority of 1/4's 2 and 3 (but failed to put it on the scoreboard) so i think we put up an effort. Stanhope just ran a bit harder in both directions and capatalyzed when needed, a sign of a team with a lot of finals experience vs a team with very little. And, as for not deserving to be there? How can you say that seriously? We played as many games as you guys, including Nagambie, Undera and Rushy twice, finished above the majority of sides on the ladder after a full season...where did we not deserve it? I'm not sure your mob would've done much better y'day, Stanhope played pretty well when it counted. It doesn't really matter anyway, the facts of the matter are that we beat you during the year and whether we deserved it or not, we played finals footy, you didn't.
Stop your shit stirring and get on with working out how you're going to make sure we "don't deserve" to play finals in 2010 ahead of you guys...

Well said Crocket!

What were your thoughts of yesterdays game? Who were your better players for both teams and who are the dangers for stanhope for the rest of the finals?

Watching it yesterday i thought it was a typical finals footy match with both sides playing hard football and putting on a good display to us spectators. As you mentioned Stanhope capitalised on there oppurtunities more often then what Murch did and in the end Stanhope were able to get on top and run away with it. Nothing against Murch however they played a great game and the elimination final between the two clubs didnt dissapoint me thats for sure. I made comment around a month or two ago on stanhopes players aged 20 and under and from what i saw a few of them were playing yesterday(and done quite well), its great to see these kids getting finals experience under their belt.

It should be an interesting weekend of finals footy coming up but im tipping Nagambie and Undera to get the points

Cocket - No, I wasn't at the game yesterday, we had our B&F count as we didn't make finals.
No, I wasn't serious about deserving to be there, and you are right I was shit stirring, but you have lightened up my Monday morning.
And finally, rest assured we will be getting on over the next few months to ensure that we will be playing finals in 2010.

I thought Pappin was a stand out all day, pretty mobile for a bigger bloke. Matt Evans showed his experience, Sheers carved us up until he went off and Ryan Patten (#1?) was good too. Freeman and Corrigan tried hard all day esp Corrigan carrying a hammy.
If you were a non-biased supporter i reckon you'd be happy you paid your admission fee. The Undera - Stanhope game this week should be a cracker.

Yeah agree on all of this crocket, I thought considering corrigan couldnt run he was very good, also mick tuan was great down back for you guys.

Hellow gents.
Im thinking of going to the game at Rushy on Fathers Day. Would this be a worth while effort, Should it be a good game? Not sure on the standard i Know back in interleauge days we beat you guys easily. Not that a one off game is a gauge of the standard of top sides in a perticular leauge.

Very similar standard to where you have been playing CS. If the weather is fine it should be a good contest between two teams desperate to stay alive in the finals. The smaller size ground at Rushy can tend to make some games a bit scrappy at times though.

Big game Saturday for a spot in the GF, who will win and why? My tip is Nagambie because they have been the form side all year but I had a look at the wombats on the weekend and they are playing good footy. I don't think that there will be much in it.

Good win by Lancaster on the weekend, most probably thought that Undera would get the points after convincing wins against the Wombats during the Home & Away season. I watched the Nagambie vs Undera game 3 weeks ago, Undera came to play that day & in comparison to the weekend it was as though they lacked some intensity.

In my opinion Nagambie will get the chocolates against Lancaster this weekend. Should be a good contest but Nagambie will be too strong, particularly up forward.

Nagambie would have to be red hot favourites,... and have even had a run on the hallowed Mooroopna turf just in case! :eek:

Can Undera bounce back?

Managed to get to Gig on Sunday to watch the game but couldnt tell which players were them was just wondering who the 20 and under players were and what no. they are, that are running around for Stanhope and getting there first crack at finals football for the first time?

:thumbsu: Good to see Stanhope, having some talented kids coming threw the ranks. Hope to see them at the big stage in Mooroopna :thumbsu:

Yes, maybe getting ahead of themselves.

Nagambie might be like their jumper cousins in the AFL -

OUT IN STRAIGHT SETS!

(And Nick don't worry about the email reply)
