Yeah can't seem to get them over the line, Grant and Schmidt haven't said no but getting a bit late, would've liked it sorted out by now. Still got the feelers out though, maybe a VCFL rep in their late 20's might fit the bill, his home GV club might have something to say about that one though!

How did you pull up today Hank? Which GV club?

Great win by Rushy yesterday over VT.. I wasn't at the match but apparently the back 6 for Rushy played exceptionally well. I was surprised to see that Joe Mama picked the tigers, particularly that the match was played at VT, so he must be an astute judge..

Pretty sure that puts Rushy third on the ladder, showing how even the comp is given we've lost 3 games (albeit all by pretty small margins).

How long until Lamaro will be back? You'd think, especially given his pre-season form, he'll make them a 5 goal better side, but it appears with Lancy's big win over Murch that they're going to take some reeling in.
Yeah your backmen were able to get a lot of run our of the defensive 50 yesterday and set up a lot of drive with quick passages of play on the rebound.
Felt like both teams had the ball just as much as each other. Good kicking is good footy and Rushy unlike us were able to make the most of their opportunities kicking 12.5.77 and us on the other end 6.14.50, not too mention there were a few kicks at goal that went out on the full and our foot skills right across the field just weren't up to the level that we need them to be. Everybody has injuries throughout the season so we can't use that as an excuse. Other than the last 10mins of the 2nd quarter where we had a bit of a lapse, the game was even-steven on the scoreboard.
Tav we're all looking forward to when Lamaro and Boppa Keen come back in to the side and they should definitely add a few goals to the end result for us each week no doubt. The fight for finals footy and a top 3 spot is alive from 2nd on the ladder to probably 8th.

By all accounts the VT half time spray left ears burning well outside the confines of the changerooms. Apparently more of a directionless rant than a 'fire in the belly' speech.

It was a well deserved spray though, we got done by 4 goals in the 2nd quarter and the final result was 28pts

Has the league decided which round the heritage jumpers will be worn? Assuming they don't have a bye will ardmona and merrigum wear theirs again?

Tips this week:

TALLYGAROOPNA vs. Ardmona - Tally by 150 points, Arho to kick 15 against the struggling Bushcats.
Longwood vs. LANCASTER - One of those games where Lancaster's midfield will run rampant, Lancaster by 190 points.
Murchison vs. VIOLET TOWN - Should be a good game, one that was hard to call. The loser will likely drop out of the five, I'm tipping the Towners by 8 points.
RUSHWORTH vs. Merrigum - Rushworth should benefit from a percentage boost which should give them a little bit of space in third place. Tigers by 200 or more points.
STANHOPE vs. Girgarre - Yet another hiding, Stanhope by 180 points.
UNDERA vs. Nagambie - Undera to get a relatively comfortable win against last years premiers by 40 points.

Tallygaroopna to defeat Ardmona by 100+ points, Tally are more than just one very good forward (and if they were to have this sort of form in September, they would not only make it, but surprise some teams as well), they're an even club in all grades this year, and they should demolish Ardy, especially after beating Undera by 6 goals.

Lancaster to defeat Longwood by 100+ points, if a side can have the likes of Ashley Jones & Adrian Meka in the 2nds, then they're going to take some beating, a very easy game for the Wombats here.

Violet Town to defeat Murchison by 48 points, Murchison had a terrible run of injuries last week, and with no ruckman, few forwards, few talls and an undermanned midfield, the Lions will sharpen their teeth on the bare bones of the Murchison 1st XVIII, which is a pity because a full strength Murchison side would've taken some beating for the Towners.

Rushworth to defeat Merrigum by 100+ points, The only danger for Rushy here is making sure that no-one gets injured.

Stanhope to defeat Girgarre by 89 points, Gig are no where near the worst side in the KDFL, and although they will get beaten, it won't be the absolute blowout most predict.

Undera to defeat Nagambie by 38 points, after last weeks effort, I can't see Undera allowing Nagambie to get the jump on them here, the Lions to win easily.

Avenel have the bye.

Good luck to all teams this week.

I just had a hunch that Rushy would win, you're a good side, and it will take some time for everything to click (that to will happen to Violet Town), but we haven't seen the best from either side yet.

Murchison had a horrible day last week, last minute omissions, no bench for 1/2 of the game, 17 players for the last 20 minutes, it was a bad day at the office to say the least, but Lancaster are a superb team, and should go all the way.

Mind if I put this one in..
It’s from the Redlegs report in the Euroa Gazette last week.

Girgarre is just a few discretionary jobs north of the dairy factory business at Stanhope. Both west of Shepp.
Apples are under threat from NZed and China .. for cripes sake!

I have been there and have experienced the “57 varieties” of corporate shafting myself in this north-eastern region from my Uncle at Wahgunyah!! Over the last 15 years.

Food for thought .. of how much district footy can pay to players; for Clubs and their town to survive in the very near future!!

Cheers

Thanks to the Euroa Gaz..:thumbsu::)

The sheepish Redlegs grazed on a bit of Girgarre grass out on the ground for a half-hour after the final siren sounded an important 8 point loss for the Longwood Football Club.
Some Gig supporters suggested tomato and beetroot sandwiches be brought out from the canteen, after the local town’s 146 reasons of a final siren this week. No smart asked veggie sangers mind you, just a humble smile for a win on the footy field to Girgarre and a comment on the 57 varieties of corporate shafting which continues to decimate country regions. Maybe this also could be a comment on the money corporate decisions on the fate of local footy towns .. perhaps?
For the blue and white stripes the win was a fillip the small town needed after the longest week.
For the Redlegs at the end, it was case of sitting on the oval’s grasses on their ..erm .. buttocks! And trying to frigger out what flaming hell went flippn’ wrong again ..

Rushworth 99pts - playing well

Stanhope 77pts - fine tuning for next week

Nagambie 1pt - close game

Dunno if that is a back-handed smack in the mouth compliment, Joe Mama.
As opposition players used to say to me when I beat them at half-back in sixties. They’d say well done. Then give me a back-hander in the gob when the play went down the other end!! At least it shut me up for a little while ..eh? Ain’t 40 year old reputations great .. no-one is around to deny it.
Now .. I’m hoping you were wearing your helmet from your SAFrican safari when you called my comments “pithy”! The SAFrican safari pith helmet I’m referring to..
Or do you go to the dunny for a leak with a lithp!!;)
Cheers Cobber!
Go the Hoppers tomorra and the Trip Away Raffle for the winning margin between Longwood and Lancaster may be corrupted at Redlegs Stadium with punters requesting the numbers start over 100!
Tell Hank .. I told you so .. gambling is making local footy pithy this week!!!

Thats a pity you have a few injuries

But it also a fact of life not an excuse

Maybe he was pointing out the FACT that they have a few out and not making an EXCUSE. Whatever way its taken its still nice to know where sides are at with injuries and players to come back in.
Same with you guys and most sides, all got 4 or 5 out most weeks, but some sides haven't and its nice to be informed of where sides are at and where they could be if they ever get their best side on the park.

Not at all, J.C, I like what you post, you've got an interesting way of looking at things, and I dig that :).

Just had a quick look at the ladder and didn't realise Stanhope were 3 games clear in 2nd. Big game this week Daryl, how are you blokes looking...?

Fair to say your main strength is through the midfield, they perhaps can rotate more through but I think your top-end players might have them covered (if fit..). You'll obviously need the forwards to stand up this week, do you think you'll tag a few of their big names players or go head-to-head..?

Lowey hasn't tagged anyone yet, and I cant see B. Gray, B. Lowe or J. Young tagging anyone as our starting onballers. In saying that as much as everyone says the game will be won and lost in the midfield, I think both midfields are very even and there forward line is miles ahead of ours at this stage!. We will be fronting up to win the game but I won't be concerned if we get beat by 10+ goals either which if there forwards get on top could be easily the case.

As for the gap from 2nd to 3rd and 2nd to 6th for that matter, it is actually only 2 games. That can soon be changed over the next month as we haven't played Lancaster, Violet Town and Tally as yet, so we realise we could soon find ourselves back with the pack if we don't keep winning.

Any match report on Tally/Ardy this week, rumours of some sort of incident involving spectators and players.

Have heard from a well known source that there was an incident with a ardmona 2,s player jumping the fence in the main game and launching a few haymakers!! Also heard that the coach has a trip to the tribunal friday night from another incident and will likely get some time with a bad record so got to feel for the players out there who are trying to go in the right direction but some things never change in some areas!!!!
