doesnt matter what happened before the photos.. spectators shouldnt get involved. simple as that!

Jayco is spot with this Earl, we as a club should know better after what AJ did at Undera that day same shit... But it's also easy to sit back and say all this. It would of been a lil diff in the heat of the moment when you see two blokes drag a player from inside the boundary over to the fence and dump him on the otherside!
On another note don't think I have ever seen a player dive so blatantly for cheap free kicks like a certain coach did on Sat:thumbsdown:

Big call saying he will definitely get off?

One week for yourself? I don't think the umpire would have been impressed sending the victim off a few times after the incident due to the blood rule.

Would hope that the Towners would not put in such an insipid performance again

Looks like we will never know as sleethy took the safe option of the week. As for the spectator incident, lets just say VT would be hoping an investigation didn't take place.

Sleeth luvs the hustle and bustle, always has. I'm sure he took it knowing he was a goner Hank. Didn't have eyes on the ball and jump ed up with his back to it and collected Hayden's face with a clenched fist in mid air while Hayden took the mark... Can't see how he would've got off.

Can't believe Sleeth took the week. The report was made by the goal umpire from a long way away. The officiating umpire awarded a free kick and a 50m penalty; no blood, no distress, end of story, unless of course, an eye witness account from someone else was going to be given. Hank, however, could be in big trouble; high, unnecessary and blood. Even if the bloke was running toward in a menacing fashion, he'll probably say it was all bluff! Good luck...Perry might have the number of an experienced advocate.

Full points to Longwood on their hosting of the Elimination Finals. Great venue, ground top notch and the parking attendants could give lessons to the VRC on Cup Day. Even managed to negate the wind with Murch and Rushy scoring more goals against it!

still think they need to fence the area infront of changeroom... crowd a little close to the 4th quarter blue for my liking

Fair point but it was their first go and probably biggest crowd. Boundary realignment or mesh bunting might help. The BOSS was close to the action, think she got a couple in sticking up for Love Nuts!:D

A correction plea..
I might sometimes be controversial but just a note to say NOT “Originally Posted by John Carrot “! Maybe Sparra can assist?
I might have to change my pseudonym to the big guy from “Hogan’s Heroes”?
I wasn’t there .. I saw nussing .. I know nussing!!

G’day Woody

This is another of my “banging on a bass drum” points.

About the lack of fencing from the end of the steel rail near the fire drum to the resumption of the steel fence after the main building.

For the last few years I’ve banged away on the suggestion that we should erect a “soft” temp canvas/cloth mesh fence in front of the Redlegs Stadium members stand with sponsors ads on canvas facing the crowd.

Soft posts that collapse if players make impact. A barrier which is psychological to the supporters ( only the dipsticks will expose themselves by jumping that barrier..) and also have the Redlegs players give a bit more back to the Club as part of the pre-match setting up as they do now!

And prime advertising space for sponsors to contribute to facing the crowd!

The feedback preventing this idea for the footy club, I have been told, is to do with the “good old” OH&S issues ..
ain’t that life in the lucky country?

Que? ..for phwarksake!!
Cheers

The wonders of pen pushing eh , anyway at the risk of repeating what Woody said, I think that Longwood did a great job with the Elimination Final, plenty of parking, heaps of room for the kids to run around in, the ground coming up a treat, very good facilities, a good Netball set-up, fantastic raffle prizes (side of lamb, 6 bottles of red, and something else that was good) plenty of food stalls (the Bacon & Egg Rolls were excellent, as well as the cakes and free tea and coffee at 1/2 time:thumbsu:), and plenty of volunteers, you've set the bar pretty high, lets see if Merrigum & Avenel can better it.

As far as that gap in the fence (Murch & Violet Town have the same thing), it was just bad luck that the bit of argy-bargy happened there, but a temporary fence would've worked for that area, especially with the kids wanting to sit down right on the boundary line.

I was trying to look for you John but I couldn't find you, anyway you guys did a great job and everyone I spoke too said the same thing.

Well, that's the press for you, Although I was at the game, I only saw the aftermath, but a few people that I was with said that this happened, but regardless you can't touch the players like that.

Despite that, it was a great effort from you guys and it just goes to show how vital finals experience is when you have it in spades.

Violet Town looked very ordinary, and after how Rushy performed Sunday, they would hope that they have another off day, because they will be hard to beat if Sunday is any indication.

Also didn't see you Joey as I wussn't there .. on the sick bed.
But your statement of argy-bargy happening in that area that we are talking about is prevalent at all games in country footy.
When a blue happens in the outer no one gives a stuff. But if there is push and shove in front of a vocal crowd .. it escalates!
The more we can separate the vocal barrackers .. (erm .. ******** ferals?) from the action on the field the better.
Bytheway, mine is no comment on the sub-judice photos in the Shepp News .. that is another kettle of fish.
Cheers

p.s. Apart from the “know nussing” character I mentioned previously .. and my need to know of that character’s name .. my Pommie grandmother told me of the phrase of “another kettle of fish”. I have no idea what that latter phrase means? Help on both counts bloggers!!

Can you elaborate a bit on this Mainland

J.C ask the OHS people what happens if you put nothing up and someone ends up on the concrete with a smashed in head,lm surprised the liability sharks havent made you put one up

Quite suprised that Sleeth took a week, looked to be nothing other than a good bump on Hollywood Lamaro, who took a dive then got up to take his kick like nothing had happened!

Probably the safest option, who knows what the tribunal would have handed out if he contested it.

Should be some cracking games of football this weekend!
