Can someone from Avenel confirm or deny that the approved (june 2nd) clearence from the K.D.F.L to the Shepp Swans for a Fraser Canobie ? Could it be that the son of a swans legend is gunna try his luck in the G.V? Whats the connection with Shepp, trade school, apprenticship ?

Along winded chat from our favorite leggers boy J.C
Nothing long winded from me Jobby .. all my smarts are fall .. in fact I read that Camels in the NT are being shot because they burp methane, together with our local dairy farmers in strife with the greenies for methane emissions (.. from the cows!), while the farmers are not being shot and their cows making 99% fat free milk!! Phwarth’!
To shorten long winded footy, all players should put a match up their parsed buttock before they ask for their next pay packet!!
Cheers

He was at training last night. We had the bye that weekend. Pretty sure he went up there on a match permit to play. Iv noticed he has been playing 3rds only the last few weeks, where as early on he was having a run in the seniors.

So lets see how we are going boys with a few b&f's leaders.

Stanhope -Ty Guiney & Brenton Gray
Merrigum - Graeme Giles
Nagambie - Michael Shiels

Surely we can get a few more boys
I'm a bit impatient...

Stanhope -Ty Guiney & Brenton Gray
Merrigum - Graeme Giles
Nagambie - Michael Shiels
Avenel - Gerard Liddell leading, followed by Nick Goodwin
Rushy - Nathan Gage and Daniel Lambden... with Tommy Clarke not far behind

If you go by number of times in the best you could assume these guys are a chance

Gig - Jeremy Hitchcock & Russell Myers
VT - Chris McKay & Tim Ross
JC's Mob - David Cini & Jesse Robertson
Murch - Nicholas Airs & Mathew Hodgetts
Undera - Daniel Breen & Luke O'Brien
Ardy - Dwayne Mansfield & Brent Ralph
Tally - Dylan Kerr & Brent Arho (Matt Toohey is named a lot but I think he might be injured??)
Lanccy - Steve Thompson & Shane Gemmill

Hank and Jobby ..
I'm not privy to committee decisions of the Longwood Redlegs

So glad to hear that JC coz I was in the company of a guy last Satdy night over a beer who seemed mighty surprised when quizzed why he wanted to join Longwood prior to clearances closing.

"OMG! WTF R U talkin’ ‘bout" I hear you say, let's hope Longwood aint up to some old BDFL type shenanigans ;)

Possibly the upset of the year, Nagambie getting over Stanhope today.

Considering they're regarded as probably the fittest side, it's suprising that Nagambie kicked 8 goals to 1 in the last quarter. Also, Brenton Gray was Stanhope's best, so the sainters obviously didn't shut him out.

Curious to see your thoughts, Hank.. It also opens up a window for third and gives Nagambie a more realistic chance of finals action.

Gig and the gum must have played a cracker, too, with the roos getting over the line by less than a goal. No doubt Scotty would've celebrated with a few cold beam cans, though admittedly that's been his general mode of recovery after a win, loss or draw for a number of years..

Doona old Cobra!
No sheneni .. shenang .. ah .. phwarking around from this me time on a sund'y morning!! Tis the way it goes with nearly 300 point deficit after crying in my soda water over the last two matches!!
But I have been asking, "OMG! WTF R U talkin’ ‘bout" I hear you say, let's hope Longwood aint up to some old BDFL type shenanigans.
But the response has been "OMG! WTF R U talkin’ ‘bout"!
Sure your not talking about our neighbour, Euroa?
Cheers mate .. snuggle into your doona .. I'm watching bombers on the pay replay (.. as all unemployed GHOB's should do but I'm flicking to the weather channel and they say it's - minus something?
Before I go for hot water bottle .. I've just been promoted from a GHOB ... not a jihab for phwraking sake .. from a GHOB .. Grey Haired Old Buzzard to a WHOB! A White Haired Old Bastard!
Go hard for ten Doona.

Didnt see the match Tav, spoke to Lowey after the game and wasn't happy with the efforts even in the 1st half, said we got the ascendency in the 3rd 1/4 and then laid down in the last. Certainly not the upset of the year, we were extremely worried about the game all week, Lowey was even quoted in the paper as saying that, Sammy Saracino said he wouldnt be at all surprised with a Nagambie win in his piece in the footballer.
Even Nagambie in 8th could not only play finals but snatch 3rd(they do play Lancy & VT on the run home though!), only 2 games seperate 2nd to 8th and the sides with a game break VT, Stanhope & Undera all have atleast 3 games that could go either way.
* I have gone out on a limb and factored in Lancy beating VT today
VT - Tally, Nagambie, Undera, Rushworth
Stanhope - Undera, Rushworth, Murchison
Undera - Stanhope, Lancaster, VT, Tally

So if two of the above sides lose 2 or more games on the way home, any team down to Nagambie that wins all their games on the way home could grab 3rd spot. (Even though this is the case I can't see anyone out of the 3 mentioned filling a Top 3 or even Top 4 spot)
The Undera v Stanhope game this weekend is huge especially for Undera, as they also play Lancy & VT on the run home, they are the only side of the 3 mentioned above who have Lancy so you would have to pencil in a loss for them there.
It might just all come down to the last round where Rushy take on VT at Home and Undera have Tally at Home.

My Top 5
Lancaster
Violet Town
Stanhope
Undera
Rushworth

Love ya work JC :thumbsu: I stand corrected my mail is obviously well off the mark . . . . oh and sadly my days of going hard for 10 and well behind me ;)

Whilst on the Magpies I was chatting to a one time Euroa player yesty who said his former coach when up there (Gleeson) is coming back, is that true???

Was a write up in yesterdays Shepp News that said he had put his hat in the ring to do the job again, Rowe is keen to go on and they said they would be making a decision this week on the way they are going to go. Has been mentioned on the GV site that Rowe had signed for two years but by the article that is not the case. They have also already signed a 3rds coach which is a good sign.

You know better than me how footy works mate - where there's smoke there's fire perhaps

mmm, did say in the article that if Gleeson was appointed Rowe may walk, so if he only had the job for 1 year you'd think he'd have no reason to walk

On another note, our Full Back Ryan Logan suffered a broken jaw yesterday, massive loss for us and may be career ending for him, LaPorta will breath a sigh of relief for next week.

On Euroa if there not willing to spend 100k and run the club for 12 months of the year they will always be in this situation

I'm listening to the radio call of the Lancaster vs. Violet Town game (it sounds like it's blowing a gale over at Violet Town), and I thought I would publish the run home for the 8 teams that are still in finals contention (It's really 7, because Lancy have all but sealed their place) for the next 7 rounds.

There you go Tav, Nagambie's win wasn't even the upset of the round, I know it was 1 v 3 (now 1 & 2) but not many other than the Violet Town boys gave them a chance, you'd have to say VT have now sealed 2nd spot and the last double chance spot is well and truly up for grabs.

Yeh, interesting you say that Hank, I was having a quick look at the ladder and Lancaster's % was over 400! While Rushy has the next highest at 190 odd.. Not many teams in any league at this stage of the year have a % like that, showing how far ahead they are (or were......?) So you're probably right, 3 beating 1 was a bigger upset than 8 beating 2.

Would love to hear a report of the match from anyone who went and had a look - no doubt after he's had a few frothies Bodzy will give us a run down, but considering he's a teacher and on holidays we may have to wait until Tues or Wed..

Just taking a stab in the dark that Lamaro might have had a big influence on the result (just guessing, coz no idea if he played, or not), but I just thought if VT played Lancy in the big one, he may have been capable of winning the game himself, similar to what Damien Yze did in 02 (when Lancy went through undefeated and he jagged 10 in the GF..)

Maggies went ok against the roos, too Daryl..

Lamaro played and kicked 3, wasn't named in the best, not that that means anything. Yes Pies travelling ok.
