Girgarre had the bye .. lucky buggras!! Remaining 6 KD Footy seniors games had an aggregate 654 point winning margin .. an average of 109 points per "contest"!! WTF! John CarrotWho from Undera rushed a behind?![]()
The Ovens and King League went one better than that JC: today margins were 100,61,254,20,185,96 = 716 at an ave of 119. They have one game tomorrow which should be a close one but ave will still be over 102! There are a lot of clubs struggling in Country Vic atm....Might be time to bring in the points system for players into all VCFL leagues not just a handful and like what the WACFL is considering. what big name players will be putting there hand up for our interleauge this year!! Violet town and lancy players would figure in the coaches plans wouldnt they or does burnett try and look away from his club to avoid any favourtism calls!! A good player is a good player shouldnt matter what club they are at thats my thoughtsShit guys, very quiet at the moment for such a massive start to the year, l see their are a few injuries to some of the key players from some of the highly fancied flag contenders. Looks like Barnett, Terry Durwood and Shadbolt will miss a portion of the year, are their any more? Certainly dosen't help Burnetts job with these players out..

Well from what I hear there will be 1 BIG name player not representing your league this year? Has left the league to go back to his home club????
Rubbish. Yes, Bathman was selected in the Reserves in round 1 and then decided to go back to the East. Only other problems are the dozen blokes missing out on a 2s game due to numbers (League medallist even had a rest to give others a run) and an old bloke snoozing on the way home on the Mystery Bus trip. Very impressed with playing group and coaching panel.![]()
By the looks of things THE PREZ had his hand on the pulse while l think grasskat may of had his hand on something else.. A bloke told me way before the year started that it was all going to end in tears so for Murch l hope this is not the case as they were a pretty good outfit when they played us in rd one.Do you still believe this grasskat![]()

Might be more about just having a game rather than development and maintaining number.
Fairly sure those that fall away wouldn't play at all if not given the opportunity to play school football. I do remember back in my day our school football side had a number of players that never played the game outside of school but played for the fun of it. Maybe if developing was not so important to so many and playing the game because its a fun game to play you wouldn't lose so many players???
A day is a long time on BigFooty!
Perhaps refrain from mentioning peoples names on here until you are factually correct in future then champHang on a minute lads. My comments have been my point of view only. I decided to join Murch FC this season due to the fact that I live and work nearby and was very impressed with the feeling at the club. I was/am totally unaware of the issues you have mentioned and continue to look forward to a great season.
You don't see the need to develop youth or maintain player numbers ?
The fun theory goes out the door when young kids often tell you that they don't play football beyond school / junior comps , as they haven't made major league squads and to play within district clubs is seen taboo and failure !
Communities having a kids walking the streets at the age of 17 rather than playing football ,because they have gone through a system where making major league is the only reasonable option beyond junior comps , isn't good for communities or football .![]()

You wouldn't be a school teacher by any chance would youSorry to butt in but, if they hadn't played outside a school environment how would they know it wasn't fun?? For years I have witnessed that for every group of boys transitioning from Under 17's footy to senior grade footy there is an element of the group that will "say" they don't want to play anymore, be it school/work/only played for fun with mates or other excuses, when the truth is they are lacking the confidence for the step up (you will never hear them say that you have to know the kids pretty well). If they aren't in the club environment much higher chance they won't continue to play as they won't have the support network of players/coaches to get them going again. So with more players only playing school/junior comps it will have a negative impact on player numbers especially if they don't get the chance from a young age to experience the social benefits of a club atmosphere.
Developing players to the best of that players own ability is the best thing any club/league can do for a player in fact more likely the kid would have more fun as his skills and therefore confidence improves, and no this should not be responsibility of schools they have enough responsibility and workload so why give them more?? should be the domain of clubs and therefore club football should always be given a priority over school/other junior comps. Not saying there isn't a place for these comps but club football should be the priority and work around it from there somehow.
