Twelve weeks with another four suspended is a significant penalty and may set an unintended or perhaps even unworkable precedent. Contrast this with the Newman suspension, also from a king hit (two weeks), which was behind the play and left the player unable to take his kick and having to leave the ground groggy and under the blood rule. Admittedly the damage was not as severe but surely the intent is the issue. As an aside, the tribunal cannot take into account a club's perceived culture, it can only judge on the facts before it at the time and this penalty now leaves all players open to a similar result.

Very little Wombat action on here, plenty of chirp last year - fair weather support? With the season now over time to look toward hard runners like Brandon Nankivell for a regular senior berth before the vultures swoop.

Lancy, Stanhope & tally all had their seasons ended yesterday, with murch reversing their fortunes of earlier in the yr to win a close one & Rushy having a solid victory over nagaz.

Avenel got the job done against lancy, has it been a while since they've beaten them..?

The tigers, avenel & murch are fighting it out for the remaining 2 finals spots & ironically all play one of the top 3 sides this week, with Rushy playing undera, murch v nagaz & avenel up against VT. if any can cause an upset they'll probably book themselves in for September action.

Handy little inclusion for VT coming into the finals. Jake Williams. Can fricken play
What position did Jake Williams play on the weekend? watched the Murch vs Tally game, great contest and a massive result for Murch.
Another big weekend of games coming up, I don't know the form of all sides as well as some on this forums so anyone brave enough to tip me the winners?

Murch to beat nagambie by 20 points, Rushy & undera to draw and VT to continue on their merry way over the swans by 68.

BYE Stanhope look in danger of missing finals in all 3 footy grades this year, when was the last time this happened..?

Yeh they were devasted after the games especially the supporter/committee group. the coach and a couple of players didn't seem too concerned

Apparently this will be the first year since 1998 Stanhope's senior side haven't made the finals according to Central Vic Footy. So they are probably due for a rest in September.
This could be the first time that l can remember VT having all 3 footy sides in the September action.Things starting to really hot up for the final couple of spots, the good thing is sides like Avenel have their destiny in their own hands so here is my prediction as how things will finish at the end of the home and away season.

VT
Undera
Nagambie
Rushworth
Avenel
Murchison
Lancaster
Tally
Stanhope
Merrigum
Girgarre
Longwood
Ardmona

Great to see that finals contenders & where they sit on the ladder will likely be decided in the final round.

With the exception of VT who look likely to go through undefeated, I can't recall a season as competitive as this one.

Speaking of September action, have finals venues been announced?

1st Semi- Nagambie
2nd Semi- Murchison
Prelim- Tally
GF- Mooroopna

Are the changerooms and facilities up to scratch to be having a final of such significance at this venue?

Probably a question for the league delegates instead of bigfooty followers.. In my mind every club deserves the opportunity to host a final & the surface of the ground is surely the most important consideration & there's no questions it'll be in immaculate condition..

Every final would be of 'such significance'. Murch ground has the best surface in the comp and is a great size for testing endurance. History suggests that no venue should be any more of a problem than any other for VT.

Our ground apart from a small patch of mud on the turf wickets is in beautiful knick, and our facilities are on a par with what Undera have at present.

We were hoping to get the money to get our Netball Courts upgraded and a new Toilet Block on site (as Murchison is in the arse end of local state and federal politics this will prove most difficult as to do this would be well out of our reach if we did it on own own, even with donated goods and volunteer labour).

As a result, Murchison was supposed to be out of the running for finals until something happened in regards to the courts, but a lot of the KDFL clubs haven't paid thier fees in full yet but Murchison did so we got a final even though we don't know if the grants to upgrade our decrepid toilet blocks and Netball Courts will be successful.

I heard that Rushworths is getting a new Bar, Canteen, Umpire's Room & Secretaries Office (which will double up as a room for the Cricket Club I believe), hopefully by 2013, which is great news for you guys (that's the benefit of having Tennis at the same venue as Cricket, Netball and Football, but try telling some people that at Murchison:rolleyes:), I hope that we catch a break and get a helping hand with this just like Tallygaroopna, Dookie, Lancaster, etc. has because at the moment having a great ground with s##t facilities is like having a crystal chandelier located in a haunted house.

Rushy kicked themselves out of it today, having five more scoring shots against undera but returning a wasteful 8.17 in a ten point loss. VT absolutely smoked the swans with whelan kicking 11 (but not named in the best..). Merrigum claimed another big scalp knocking off Stanhope & giving themselves plenty of enthusiasm going into 2013 & looking at it, if nagambie beat murch tomorrow lancy are still a chance to finish top 5..?

Still, the chasm VT are putting on the rest of the league is hinting at a comfortable premiership victory this year.

Hoppers had a good hit out against the Lakers yesterday with a good 4 qtr performance. Final 3 games leave our finals destiny in our own hands, Undera, Ardmona and Rushworth.

I'd be more concerned with the ground surface/dimensions and based on that it's probably the best place to have the game. Very good ground.
