Merrigum - have recruited what they needed and not just for the sake of getting names. A lot of boys that were fringe GVFL players and local to the district have added run and height and this might just tire out Nagambie. Could also be interesting as I believe a few Nagambie boys are expected to make an appearance at a local wedding on Saturday and there is nothing like a distraction to throw one off one's game.
Rushworth - Lanclustre would surely have preferred Stanhope as it is one all against the Tigers and their latest hit off was a loss.
Avenel - only because Ardy didn't seem to know how to win in the first final. Having said that, quite a few Ardy boys have an affiliation with the Mooroopna ground.

The classic reply to players getting too serious has always been, "Mate we're playing KDFL Seconds." This might be the reality check that some of these tools need. Watched a VAFA final on the weekend with a female central umpire, she gave no quarter and would have put many a GVFUA umpire to shame in the handling of players and the interpretation of the rules and they play pretty fast and physical football. An added bonus was that the other central bounced EVERY centre ball up and nailed them all! You won't see that from too many of our local professionals.

No such thing as a local professional umpire!There is not to many good umpires because there are not enough ex players taking it up and all the really good decision making umpires are doing senior games so I reckon we need to accept it.

Fair enough, I meant to put professional in inverted commas. Still, they are paid and do receive travel allowance and free entry - not too many Seconds and even Senior players get the same deal.
 
Hope Bulldogs win the big one, with Major Sponsor gone down, and cash hard to come by, might be a bit harder to sustain and keep Well paid players, especially when, they can demand all money's paid out in the last 6 months returned. Hope this is not the case for The gum, and also hope the get the big one Saturday

Despite what the Ex-Major sponsor may have people believe, they certainly weren't the making of the Football Club. Just a piece of a larger puzzle, just like any clubs Sponsor Program. There is already a new Major to take that place, so we are ok. Don't let the egos fool you, football clubs are run by many and take many to be successful..
