Can confirm Wittnall approached Nagambie to coach asking for 20k as coach only. Also heard Avenel coach on way out with Brad Gleeson on radar from euroa to bring a crew to Avenel

One can only wonder what he would have asked to coach a struggling team. When do these blokes actually wake up to themselves and give something back to the game?

20k ?? Driving up from Melb 2-3 nights for training plus game day, would imagine he could entice some extra sponsors , I'd say it's about right . I know coaches down here command similar figures and no travel involved but then again I no bugger all about your comp and what payment level you guys are at !

Jeepeers he would want to have the gift of the gab. If you were going to shell out those sort of peas you would want a playing coach as well for on field leadership IMO. So much for talk being cheap !!

Wow musnt be a high paying league.
He just come from a league where an ex afl player is on approx 50 to coach. Not playing.
Anyway ill take my client else where then...

I know plenty of people who stump up for nothing so the next generation of Witnalls have a game from which to launch their career. If there's better money in town then stay there.

What do you expect a country club to fork out? Where do you expect the revenue to come from? Do you know how much a club has to find to run football and netball before anyone gets a look in? Obviously looking for a challenge sniffing around the clubs at the top end of the ladder.

Clubs could easily get a good playing coach for that figure, but the reality is, at the moment there are players in the league getting more than that just for playing.
If Whitnall was all in and was going to work 10-20hrs a week for 40 weeks of the year (and take every training session, unlike the Lee set up), plus either make 500 phone calls pissing in blokes pockets, or already have the players required for recruiting onboard, then 20G starts to look not so outrageous, compared to the player who is getting his $1000+ a week and might get to training here and there.
In saying all that, when clubs have and are still winning flags with quality non-playing coaches who are doing it for next to nothing, big Red is going to have to get a gig closer to home!

I would expect a coach earning that much money to be very involved in raising cash for the club. Ensuring that the culture of the club is healthy enough that the payment to the coach would be an investment rather than paying a blokes wage.

Been very impressed with our current coach in that regard.

Had a dream last night Russ and rigney had a swans jumper on .... Was it just a dream or can I read the future :(:(:(

Funny that Stop It, I had the same dream last night, only that in my dream I saw Gleeso, Russ Lee & the Arkitect having a meeting at the Avenel Roadhouse. That wasn't the best bit though, they cracked up with staff because they were forced to pay.

Should be good, especially if they organise a big top, clowns and dancing horses. Oh, and Justin Murphy as ringmaster.

Any coach worth their salt would do

Well Russ will get a good look at his new team this week. Common knowledge he is shopping himself around already. Speaks volumes of his character and commitment given his current club is coming into finals.

Well I had a dream that the Arkitect was running around with you next year Tayg.... If we all keep having these dreams we have to eventually get 1 scenario right? :D:D

Boys we at Avenel only have a million bucks to spend so we wouldn't be able to fit them in with what they want a game.
