Both played finals last season, Lancy have been strong in the 3rds for many years and won the comp in 2013. Merrigum only got a 3rds side going again in 2011, and spent two years not winning a game, so to turn that around and win a final last year is a great effort.
Someone from within would have to answer the 2nd part of the question, but you'd hope a few young locals will get blooded throughout the season, and hopefully there will be some smart Coaches/Clubs who don't allow the 3rds kids to double up and play two games in the one day, for one, to look after their bodies, and two, to give them the best preparation to be able to perform playing senior football.

Or better yet why don't you spill the beans on who you are so we can see how you went in finals last year?? Come on don't hide behind your username all your life....

To answer the second part. At the Gum I'd expect Jason Christou to play senior footy again, played Seniors as a top age 3rds players before getting injured on the eve of finals last year.
Dylan Fitzgerald won a 3rds league medal and has played some Senior Footy, he's coming into his first year out of thirds. Nathan Cronyn and Tommy Coyne would be chances to get blooded during the season.
Heard yesterday that Paul Arandt from Avenel isn't playing this year? Don't think he is going anywhere else, from what I heard just isn't playing at all??

Heard that the gum played waaia recently in a praccy game what was the outcome and who played well fill us in smooth Ps and don't worry about that peanut!!
Hey swoop, why don't u steal normos thunder and let us all in on the name. Stanhope over the years have had some gun forwards that have helped them achieve success. It seems a sound strategy. Would be interested in hank rating them. Exel, james, Pearce, Edwards, I've probably left a few out but that group come to mind.

Swoop. Played Dookie and Waaia. Played against Congupna today. Beat Dookie and Waaia by about 8 goals each. Beat Congupna by a couple of goals not sure of exact scores.

You sure are pumping the praccy games out dids with some good early form and for clarkys form that does not surprise me I stated last season he is the best hb in the comp in my opinion!!Swoop. I recently asked how the game went between the gum and Waaia . I was told from a Waaia person that it was 12 minute quarters and Waaia had no more than 5 senior players play and lost by 2 goals . On asking about Clarkey they said they didn't even notice him despite knowing him personally .Swoop. Played Dookie and Waaia. Played against Congupna today. "Lol" it was 20 min quarters, who has ever played 12 minutes (except basketball). "5 senior players" pfft ... I bet he claimed they lost by 2! I think your mates claims are a bit ridiculous.. Why would you have a practice match with 5 Senior players... The versions certainly do alter.
I get it, your a PDFL man and you can't believe it, KDFL sides can certainly beat your sides.
We haven't played anywhere near full strength. No one does in practice matches.
We still win though..

You could easily only have 5 senior players if some are playing cricket finals and Injuries/ work. So didak what was your thoughts on today's game? Talking to a merrigum lad who thought they played average against dookie and waaia and any more praccy games on the horizon? I've been told rumba are playing 5 praccy games which is unusually large number in my opinion.
