wouldn't they have been contacted first to see if
interested
available ?
surley we don't play players who don't want to be there
You would think that would be the case, but the way the rule was told to me, was that everyone had to make themselves available to be selected or their club would be fined and/or a suspension to the player. Murray League has a suspension system also, but you have the option to decline selection in the first instance, but if you make yourself available and then pull out, you get weeks.

Bats have spent far to much money for there own good this year and will choke just like the towners did the other year.

Laker's have way to much depth in there local talent the same as stanny and gum. And can only improve before the big dance.
What did the Towners choke from?
Please explain?

Welcome back Sparra. I dare say that it would be the out in straight sets result from 2011. Still VT did stump up the next year so heaven help us all in 2016 if Lanclustre do the same this year.
Ah thanks for explaining that woody.
So one of three will choke this year and can't wait to see which one.
Probably a bad year to go all out with the johnny wouldn't you think.
And I think the Towners are going to get as much satisfaction out of finishing hopefully 4th or 5th as we did in 2012

If they have been made to, I'm sure there might be a few players come down with gastro or food poisoning. Easiest way to get a certificate from the Doc.

By the looks of the squad the old 5 from each club selection criteria has been scrapped.. 9 from Nagambie and 6 each from merrigum and lancy... which is how it should always have been in my opinion. The best players play. Not the 'better pick one from each club' old criteria. None from rushy or longwood would suggest that too.
Spot on. The numbers are with the stronger clubs as 33 out of a possible 44 come from Nagambie/Lancy/Merrigum/Stanhope and Murch. My point being in reference to Coad was that the 5 that have been selected from Stanhope are all worthy selections who would handle themselves accordingly if picked to represent our league. If you were to fit Coad in, someone either from Stanhopes group misses or another member of the squad goes. Not sure I would do either.
Anyone care to have a stab at a best 22 from the squad of 44?

B: G. Connally, J. Hutton, D. Clarke
HB: T. Durward, D. Gillespie, A. Haysom
C: J. Jones, L. Wellington, D. Price
HF: A. Young, M. Forys, T. Stevens
FF: C. McKay, P. Rattray, J. Pell
R: T. Ewart, R. Lee S. Thomson
INT: M. Bradbury, M. Morgan, C. Kilmartin, T. Hepburn

Not going to be perfect as I'm not 100% where each player lines up at local clubs.

Perry from Lancaster would surly be in before a few of these

Nice work. Might have killa at chf putting forys to a pocket and mckay or young to the interchange. .. might be a bit top heavy though And surely geoff connallys too old and slow to be in the starting 18 haha

Wouldn't know this Perry bloke from a bar of soap. Not even sure which area of the ground he plays. Haven't seen him play so doesn't get a guernsey in my side ahead of those I have watched and rate. You'd obviously know more about him and his credentials compared to others I have selected.
As I said, not going to be perfect as I'm not 100% sure where each bloke plays at club level, along with the fact there are names there I haven't seen kick the Sherrin so I'm unwilling to put them in on that basis.

At the end of the day the side I put together matters little as the selectors will go with who they believe is best suited to help us climb back up the rankings and not what I think. Just an activity for a bit of discussion.

Don't think I'd have Kilmartin over Fonz in a key position role and certainly wouldn't put Young to the bench in order to start Killer either. Could just be biased.

PS-Boss Baldwin believes his a real shot at Rushy's twos B n F. Getting kicks at will he reckons.

He always has... Even after a dozen Carlton lights on a Friday night too

I would swap Chris McKay for his team mate Sam Poole. Other than that I think it's very close!

Can anyone fill us in on numbers at training last night? did the Melbourne players make the trip up?

Qwerty my mail is that 18 of the 44 players named trained. No one from Melbourne in attendance.

Correct. Bugger all there training with a couple on the sidelines watching. Not a good start
This will be a challenge. There are certainly some spots where several players will be competing, surely the blokes who train will have to be top pick. Did the penalties apply to players who don't train without an exceptional reason? The list was impressive and the KDFL at its best isn't bad footy, it needs to be showcased and the curtain raiser to the GV game is a great gig.

With my past experiences with interleague footy (different league and a lot of years ago), training was not that important. A couple of Sunday morning get to know sessions and train together Thursday nite before game.
After all it is only an ego trip for all those involved, although I must add quite enjoyable ego trips all those years ago

If interleague is just an ego trip, as you say sparra... it would have been right up your alley then
