It's already been mentioned a few times, but Ararats at Broadway in Nedlands across the road from UWA is THE BEST. So much meat and salad. I get chicken and cheese plus garlic sauce (duh). The service is really great too. The place is always packed but you don't end up waiting that long.

Gonna get one tomorrow for lunch :D

Never heard of it! It's a bit out of the way but I might check it out for lunch tomorrow.

Have recently, probably the last two months organised a kebab night every week with the boys. Greatest idea ever. I definitely recommend to get a group together and go out for Kebabs once a week. :thumbsu:

Anyone found any decent kebab places recently?
Do you have 14 beers beforehand?

Good shout on the garlic above too. You'd have to be crazy to get anything other than garlic – that's what makes the kebab! One of the best feelings is ripping off that warm silver foil at the top and smelling the garlic... oh man...

Does anyone know any kebab places right in the city? I know there's one down near the City Library off Swanston, but it's not on my way home. I always feel like a kebab after being in the city but have to settle for a pie or something instead. Surely there's a kebab joint on King Street or close enough by?

Also, best kebabs are those ones down the Cappuccino Strip in Freo as mentioned before. Pretty sure you get chips too for about $12 all up? In Melbs, they seem to operate in tandem – always across from one another, like the competition helps. There's one on Lygon right near the RMIT buildings and up near the IGA liquor/Totos pizza (which is also pretty tops after a few). Both of them do a great kebab. My favourite though is this place on Smith Street down near the Gertrude Street intersection. There's a place called Fitzroy Kebabs right next to Yah Yahs that does $10-rys, but there's the place that advertises $6 doners literally across the street. Underrated and so cheap. There's a woman who works there sometimes and when you've been on the beers all night, her eyes seem even more piercing. Honestly not one for eyes but these things are piercing... amazing.

Yep there's at least 2 on King Street. One is really good, about 2 blocks towards Flinders Street coming from La Trobe Street.

DivideandMultiply is spot on about Half Moon in Coburg- they're the best falafels you will have.

Melbourne Kebab Station around the corner from that does the best chicken shish kebabs I've had, too.

The one in East Perth...next door to the Carlton Hotel. Have been known to travel many a mile for their Chicken with the lot, no tomato, fried onions with garlic and satay sauce.

Shit yeah

Ankara next to the Inglewood hotel for the win for me.

Don't eat out the front though cos you'll get egged but. Happened to me twice now

Across the road from the Paddo goes alright too if you can avoid punching on with bogan UFC khunts

This is a picture of the best kebab I have ever eaten

It's from a place called Mustafa's in Berlin. 10/10

Haha, can't believe that. I was waiting till I got to the end of the thread then was going to post the best one I have ever had was in Berlin! Was about 6 years ago, but I haven't had anything that compares to it since. Words can't describe how good it was. Had all of the usual trimmings, but also had some lemon juice which took it to the next level! Wouldn't have a clue what the place was called though. Had 2 the first time, then 2 and a half the next day. Unbelievably good.

Yeah kebabs in Berlin are seriously next level. So much so I looked up which was the best kebab in the city and found out about that Mustafa's place. I had to line up for 45 minutes but it was well worth the wait.

It had... garlic sauce, curry mayo, chilli dip, lettuce, tomato, red cabbage, onion, fried zucchini, fried capsicum, chips, chicken + fetta cheese on top with a squeeze of lemon juice to finish it off.

Was flavour city. I haven't been able to take the kebabs in Melbourne seriously ever since.

That looks so good.

I can't imagine eating a kebab that's not wrapped though?! Wouldn't it all fall out the back?

It's similar to eating a burger. Those doner kebabs are in pockets of Turkish bread. You can get the wrapped version called a durum but I prefer the bread.

On the weekend a friend on mine got mayo on his lamb kebab, disowned him almost instantly. Unforgivable act.

I was going to mention Mustafa's in Berlin but it would seem I have been usurped. When I was there two years ago it cost about 3.50Euro. Which is nothing really. The only thing you have to do is line up for anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour. That's how popular it is.

Another good one in Berlin is The Baghdad Cafe. Reportedly it is where David Bowie used to get his kebabs in the 70's when recording an album just down the street.

Was having a chat to a group of mates a while ago while we were waiting in line for a kebab at some ungodly hour of the morning after a night out, and I found out that only I and one other mate get Pineapple. The other six or so thought it was a weird and gross thing to have on a kebab. Agree or disagree?
