Was having a chat to a group of mates a while ago while we were waiting in line for a kebab at some ungodly hour of the morning after a night out, and I found out that only I and one other mate get Pineapple. The other six or so thought it was a weird and gross thing to have on a kebab. Agree or disagree?

You sicken me.

Never tried it but it sounds alright. I only ever get a kebab from one place in Freo and they don't do pineapple I don't think.

There's a place called Fitzroy Kebabs right next to Yah Yahs that does $10-rys, but there's the place that advertises $6 doners literally across the street. Underrated and so cheap. There's a woman who works there sometimes and when you've been on the beers all night, her eyes seem even more piercing. Honestly not one for eyes but these things are piercing... amazing.

You WA blokes must be easily pleased - that $6 place is possibly the worst kebab place in Melbourne (Halal Kebabs in Flinders Lane ties with it). Jumbo Kebabs and Haci's Kebabs taste like fine dining compared to the aforementioned dumps.

Won't lie, had one today sober and it was pretty grim. Really grim actually.

Could probably count on one hand the amount of time I've eaten a kerbab without drinking.

Had one last year from a place at Hamersley shopping center that was pretty good, for some reason though the sillies close the joint up at about 9pm though so it's always been shut when I've tried to go there on the way back from the footy.

I used to eat them sober all the time at uni. Back in the day (starting 2002) you used to be able to get a kebab for about $5 which definitely appeals to a student. Chip roll after first lecture at 10-10.30, kebab and jug at lunch time. All for about $15. That was #winning before winning needed a hashtag.

Good kebabs are a fine meal, have had plenty here and plenty in Europe. When you are sober the kebab ordering experience is different. You choose your meat type, sauce, salads etc. to get the right balance of healthiness/flavour/heaviness you feel like at the time. When you are pickled you invariably end up with as much grease, fat and garlic sauce as you can order. And it does the job of soaking up the alcomohol perfectly.

Pineapple is totally incongruous to the texture of a kebab. Things like tomato and onion (even though onion is the only thing I can rarely eat) are a nice complement to one another; they're a salad. Those salads are timeless and staples because they're tried and tasted and work well. How many great salads have pineapple in them? Pineapple just sticks out – nothing else has that texture or flavour.

It works on pizza because it offsets the meat and sauce and if you have something like olives, they're usually pretty complementary to the meats. They're like one part. Just like one part of the kebab is the meat and sauce and the other is the salad – you're bringing in a third part. Stick to two.

What the **** is this pineapple nonsense? It's a travesty on pizza but on a kebab? Please think of the children.

Will be hitting up the city numerous times as of next week. Where should I go to fulfill my desire for a drunken kebab?
I don't know anyone who gets a kebab when they get on the piss in the city. It's always old faithful Swanston Street McDonalds. Which I always feel bad about even drunk because I detest those ****ing arseholes.

Yeah I haven't stumbled across any places other than the common fast food joints really.

Surely there's something near Southern Cross.

Turkish Place in Bay St, Brighton is always a solid feed. 4.5/10.

Sip N Bite in Ormond can provide a 24/7 late night hunger craving but god it's standard. 2/5. Can't complain though, most of it's client base are people looking for late night munchies.

Jimmy Grants... eugh. Can't believe this place gets the wraps that it does. Salty as anything, hard stringy meat and the cheese takes away flavour. 1.5/5.

Solid though it gets 45%?
