I'm in !!!

Caff must stay!

He is a great third marking option up forward who can take a grab and kick goals in big games.

If Macaffer does not have a chronic condition, better that he stays because he offers flexibility and is a proven finals performer.

Signed.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

But in the end, Caff is in an unfortunate situation where to stay at the club, he has to accept a lot less then GWS or the Suns would pay him.

Basically the balls in his court, the club has made an offer, and it's the best offer they could make under the circumstances.

I hope he stays, but at the same time I'm realistic.

I feel exactly the same way.

Not really bothered to be honest.

I'd prefer to keep him but if he goes I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. He is a structure player who couldn't get it together in 2010 due to injury and lack of match fitness. Without him in the team we finished on top and won more matches than ever before.

Would he have made the difference in the Granny? I doubt it.

Keep the Caff

Agree with the sentiment above: One year deal on relatively low wage with performance incentives, and give him the chance to earn higher by getting regular first 22 action next season.

lol why would Caff sign a one year deal for peanuts? I'm certain a club out there would at least give him a 2 year deal.

Offer him a 2 year deal with bonus incentives and renegotiation in the second year if he meets them. That is the least we can do IMO.

We managed to strike some sort of fear into the club when Dids was in trouble a few years ago.

Not a bad idea to tell them what we think regarding this situation.

Will leave a very bad taste in my mouth if Caff is not there next season and beyond.

I seriously doubt that the club under the current regime(the eddie years) has ever made a list managment decision to keep supporters happy. The second they start doing this is the second that the club nosedives into the class of the likes of Richmond.

With respect there is not a single person on this entire site who would know anywhere near as much about list managment as hine and co

It's not about making the supporters happy.

I'm certain everyone still feels he has plenty to offer and contribute to our list, hence why there is a call to retain him.

Most supporters just feel it would be the wrong decision to let him go.

I won't support the club any less but just sayin'.

We would feel it would be the wrong decision to let him go for sure, but we don't really know what money the club has available.

Sure McCafe would get more at another club. But he could join a long list at Collingwood (not including Tooves I guess lulz) who would be in that boat.

Dawes, Cloke, Pendlebury (so far), Thomas, Swan each could have got far more on the open market.

Macaffer is a good player who should be rewarded on 2010 form with a decent contract. The issue is that you can't pay everyone what you want, and often something's got to give. Maybe he ends up being our "Brent Prismall".

Just wondering, has Prismall played in a flag for Essendon?
Or top 10 in their B&F?
Or even getting a game regularly this year (before knee injury)?

But at least he probably owns the house he sleeps in at night. (And may not have made the Geelong team in the last 3 years anyway)

All things for Macaffer to mull over.

The difference with Macaffer is that he is to stay at Collingwood he isn't just accepting less that he could get on the open market, he is being forced to accept less than his previous contract! All the others that have signed this year have got pay rises despite the cap squeeze!

There just has to be more to that than what we know, yeah he's the unlucky one out of contract coming off an injury ridden season but that still doesn't explain pulling a contract from a required premiership player and not moving heaven and earth to keep him. There's something else in the equation aside from cap space.

The contract is on the table for him to sign, it's just a shit contract.

I do not get why people think there is some off field conspiracy with Caff, he is just a victim of being the last one to get his contract organised and Collingwood not squeezing the other players hard enough to leave sufficient cap space to at least match his previous deal.

If partying was the reason then there would be a lot of contracts being pulled before they got to Caff.

Has anyone actually had it confirmed that Caff has been offered less money or is it just a BF thing?
It's a BF thing. Nobody knows what he was paid or what is being offered to him. I'm guessing the proposed offer was similar to his last and he thinks he should get more because he's now a better player and shown his importance to the side.

Yes I think that's correct (nobody really knows Caff contract situation). All quiet, so assume his manager is testing the waters to see if he can get Caff a better deal with another club thru the draft. If nothing better on offer then I guess he will accept CFC terms.
Clubs list lodgement one - 31st Oct 2011 So Caff must inform/sign before this date, expect a decision by early next week, so the club can sort out who to delist if Caff re-signs. Hurry up Caff...sign the contract.

I can tell you that Caff got offered less than his current deal. Second hand knowledge (mutual friend of Caff) but still a reliable source. He was right about the groin problems and the stress fracture during the year.

Didn't Caff rejoin full training late Aug/Sep & was part of the final squad of 31 training during the finals? Hence is is over his injuries?

I don't think standingroom was commenting on his current injury situation rather that his mate has been correct about other rumours regarding Macaffer in the past.
