I get that you think lobby groups run the political conversation - they dont elect Governments.

As for climate change I made a living reducing carbon footprints in the 90s.
They provide funds for election campaigns and they advertise to target voters eg mining tax.
Plus they are backed up by the Murdoch media monopoly where they advertise.

Whats a battery ?
A dams a battery,hydrogen is a battery, molten salt is a battery.
Building turbines in permanently windy locations and varied locations interconnected need fewer storage solutions(batteries).

molten salt limitation is in the 600s of degrees and to be effective it needs to be in the 700s
hydrogen has no clear pathway at this stage be it the anodes or the ability to transport and competes with the demands of fresh water

these will become real options in the future but we can't adopt future technologies today

You seem to want detailed plans of how we move to 100% renewables, likewise I could ask you how we're to make this planet inhabitable when we see days like the one we've just had in BC every summer. Doing nothing, as Australia is at the moment is criminally negligent.

so if doing nothing is criminally negligent........is wasting billions to achieve the same outcome grossly negligent?

Is this a subtle nod to the fact the ALP is a union coalition that is heavily lobbied by them to promote conditions for their member's interests?

That the standard for whether lobby groups or other groups of power being acceptable to be involved in government is entirely down to whether their objectives are agreed with or not?

But I agree with you that power and money having a direct line to politicians is anti-democratic and makes our elections a rubber stamp for an oligarchy deciding what's best for us. Deciding what issues we will pretend to be fighting over at the election while they've secured their policy in the background without fanfare.

Yes

I couldn't help but have a dig at @Aristotle Pickett for not appreciating Labor's and the Green's foundations are lobby groups

It just highlights how blinkered the poor lad is

Here's a good one for all you coal lovers. This shows how Keith Pitt is totally amoral and a climate vandal.

'Australia ranks last for climate action among UN member countries
Nation scores just 10 out of 100 on tackling fossil fuel emissions in new report on sustainable development goals

A UN-backed report has ranked Australia last on climate action

Australia has been ranked last for climate action out of nearly 200 countries in a report assessing progress towards global sustainable development goals.

The Sustainable Development Report 2021, first reported by Renew Economy, scored Australia last out of 193 United Nations member countries for action taken to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

Keith Pitt refuses to answer basic questions on (the coal lobby's own propaganda network) Sky News.
Yahoo News Australia
Minister refuses to answer 'basic' question in bizarre interview
A federal government minister has appeared in a bizarre interview where he refused to answer a “basic” question.

Keith Pitt, the Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, was speaking with Sky News’s Tom Connell on Monday about energy when he was asked about wind farms.

Mr Pitt appeared on Sky News to discuss the government’s decision to recently veto a $280 million loan for a North Queensland wind farm.
Minister for Resources Keith Pitt's interview has been compared to a sketch from Clarke and Dawe.

Australia received the lowest score awarded, just 10 out of 100, for the ‘climate action’ goal,

A goal for virtue seekers.
What a ridiculous response. You can't just ignore this fact and pretend it's not happening. Worst in the world , did you hear worst in the world. You've got no credibility ignoring this.

This thread is about Keith Pitt being a lobby group for coal within government.
You can't just come on the thread and make things up and talk nonsense.

who needs excuses when there is are reasons.

Please name one jurisdiction on the planet that has a renewable strategy that has delivered 15-70g CO2 per kwh, without relying upon hydro or nuclear? Further those with clean energy who achieved it in the 1980s (at 14-70) have increased their CO2 output per kwh on the introduction of renewables.

So why do you advocate following failed power generation models, in a climate emergency, when the only solution is clear and obvious?

If the climate emergency is not an emergency, when does it become an emergency? How long do we give renewables a chance to be effective in reducing CO2?

Further electricity is 18% of the problem with 32% being transport and 50% being heat. If renewables are at 30% of 18% and ineffective at that level, then how do we move from 6% to 100% and be effective? Again the answer is clear!
How dare you raise common sense questions. The little Prince's do not like to hear this. They think the world is like Star Trek, where everything will be solved in the last 5 minutes.

Common sense?? Lol. Ever heard of the climate emergency or is climate change just a natural occurrence?
Those pesky wind farms are an eyesore, coal mines are much more attractive plus they make bushfires worse.
If you call yourself Australian, you should be trying to protect our unique environment and save our threatened species instead of lobbying for more destruction.

Wind farms are an abomination. The cost to manufacture them (in China or Germany) then transport them here, erect them and then have to replace them in 20 years and they cannot be recycled. Plus the wildlife they obliterate each year. They should install a few of these monstrosities in Fitzroy and Brunswick and force the cafe latte set to have to experience what it is like to live near one of these monstrosities. Nuclear energy is not an option and will never happen in Australia.

No it is not a serious topic, it is a joke. If the world is in such a dire mess, then why don't the world powers pool their respective military budgets to the research of saving the planet? OUR Governments spend over 2 trillion dollars a year on defence, building ships, planes, satellites, nuclear bombs, hypersonic missiles and all of the black budget projects we know nothing about. They have developed miles and miles of underground tunnels with sophisticated maglev technology to protect themselves and their advisers. If you believe the many many scientists and retired military personnel that have worked on various projects, the US Govt has developed clean energy and use it to power a lot of their military systems, but refuse to share it for national security purposes.

If our idiotic Governments dedicated no military budgets for the next ten years, we would eradicate most diseases on the planet, eliminate famine and hunger and develop transport systems that would be clean and efficient.

Should Australia and Australians sacrifice their economy and way of life so as to appease a couple of greenies in Europe? No! They can go and f*ck themselves.

They started two world wars and released billions of tons of Co2 and killed over 75 million people. As a consequence, two nuclear bombs were unleashed which killed over 300,000 people and another million over the course of the following 50 years. Then we had the cold war, Korean war, Vietnam war, Iraq X 2, Afghanistan X 2 if you count the Soviets, and now we are face to face with China threatening war.

But hey, let's give up everything we have and sacrifice everything so our idiotic global military can continue to piss trillions up against the wall playing their war games....AND we say nothing...nothing at all...

I agree . That's why countries like China will ve able to get stuff done.
Our conservative politicians would never let it happen

I agreed with you ! Why am I am in cuckoo land?
My point being in a democracy you need both parties to be in agreement, whereas other countries can make unilateral decisions.
China is creating enemies so as to try and keep their country united. They have so many different groups trying to get independence. if they have to start a war to save their country they will.

They have no incentive to start a war imo
China are biding their time. The person most afraid of China is Putin..The Chinese have been agitating that Vladivostok belongs to China...
Chinese workers have been pushing into Russian territory for the past decade...China would love to get their hands on the Russian oil and minerals.
You could kiss goodbye any reduction in Co2 if this happened.
