What I cant understand is, how can they all continue bleating about Port being assisted by the SANFL to the tune of $16.25m - an average of $950k p/a since our AFL start, while at the same time they have "sponsored" the Crows to the tune of $1.3mill p/a, and are under contract to do so for the next 30 years!!!

Which of the two clubs is the bigger leach on the SANFL coffers?

If the Crows hadnt been sponsored to the tune of $1.3mill all these years, and had to pay for their ground maintenance themselves, they would have had to be bailed out by the SANFL as much, if not more, than Port!!

The other issue of course is, $16.25m sounds like a lot in isolation, but as a bulwark against the appalling stadium deal the SANFL themselves levied (no private investors with a finite period to make bank, a la Etihad) it works out to a cushion of $246k/home game for 2009-2014 inclusive.

Or roughly what we'd have taken home on average if we weren't being gouged blind over that period, ignoring revenues generated for the SANFL and denied Port in all the years prior to that.

Rubbish ... The timing has nothing to with where that dickhead is at ... KT has waited as he clearly says, because of the timing involving him and Fagen "drawing the line in the sand" next week. Speaking out prior to this would, or could, have compromised things.

I have it on good authority that KT, having worked his backside off to 'break even' in 2014, has taken this SANFL taxation-without-representation gambit very personally and, in his own words, has been 'stewing' in private for quite some time. Penberthy put him past boiling point.
