So it sounds like the announcement Kochie is talking about is definitely related to China.
Didn't I make the direct link in my Season Launch post? If not I was meant to - the big announcement next month or so to set up the future is China related.

Wait i thought we were discovering that Sunday? Is the "2 30" video and kochie announcement not tied into one another?

Nope. Two different surprises.
I believe the vid is just a new vid with some of the players speaking (that will probably pull at the heart strings) and will be played every game.

The announcement is off field stuff i assume...something big, to do with China (I think)

Nope they are separate. I went back and re read my post in the Season Launch thread and they were two separate points and they were seperated by several other things inbetween so if you read that post I didnt mix them together.

Great letter as usual, just not so sure about this paragraph:

"We have spoken of ‘winning the right way’, where winning with humility and integrity - all the while upholding the highest standards of personal behaviour - would be honoured in this era of heightened social responsibility and accountability."

A bit too Primusesque and reminiscent of the vanillarisation we were lamenting last year for mine. Fair enough have tough standards for player behaviour (we got Krak's punishment right imo), but winning should be about toughness and ruthlessness, not humility.

I think when Keith speaks about humility, he's talking about the team not becoming cocky or arrogant. Disrespecting the opponent leads to debacles like the Brisbane game last year.

Look, far be it for me to defend Primus but I'm going to defend Primus. The whole humble thing has been blown way out of proportion. When Primus said that he wasn't talking about being meek and surrendering (despite it happening that way). We'd just come out of the Mark Williams era where it had become common practice to trash talk during pre-game press conferences and such, from coach and certain players. A lot of that shit would come back and bite us. Primus's "humble" statement was about reigning that nonsense in and just knuckling down and doing the job with a minimum of fuss, giving the opponent no ammunition. KT is talking about humility in the same way, and he's right on the money.

From the 5aa interview when the fixture came out - stupid asked was he angry and KT said -

"I dont get angry Rowie, I get focused."
Time for the whole Port Adelaide family to stop getting angry and start getting focused. As I said in the Koch thread, he went on, several times, post game about everyone at the club working hard to fix our issues. I want them to get focused and work smart first, and then hard. No point working hard but dumb.

It also leads to dynasties. Walking the walk absolves all.

I had a brief chat to KT at the post game function. I congratulated him on the China stuff and talked about that for no more than 2 minutes. I didn't talk footy because I could see he was upset. He wasn't his normal chirpy self. He only raised a half smile when I said g'day, usually its a big welcoming grin. Apart from the time when we lost J-Mac, its the the most non-KT, I have personally seen him in the flesh. Even when he hosted the members info night after Primus and Duncanson were gone, he was the usual KT. Obviously not so on TV at the presser after the sacking, but that wasnt live in the flesh for me.

He knows we're minutes to midnight and all that will entail.

Not surprised he looks flat..Our club is copping it hard from the media from every direction..our team's poor performance, the unfounded Boak rumours, the supporters abusing players, Koch being assassinated for a comment, supporters leaving at 3/4 time (ugh..how disrespectful on ANZAC day :( ) plus the China strategy being knocked from pillar to post..and then there's the $NAFL wanting their pound of flesh. Hang in there KT, it sure must be tough going but we are proud of our club. We'll get there. We love you and we need you mate.
