OK. So, I'm the first to admit that KT has been magnificent for the club. Off-field and On-field (before 2015) he has put in a great performance. Transition to AO spotless. China plans excellent.

Assuming that he is not a prime candidate for the AFL jobs recently available (I suspect that he might be) - he has some serious work to do on the football department, and I'm sure that he knows it.

The last letter to the CEO was basically a last-ditch appeal to supporters, as is the GDV re-opening. KT is a bloody good business man; he knows a sub-standard product.

If he sticks around (and I'm honestly not sure that he will), I would expect some MAJOR changes in the off-season. Not a reshuffle. We have the cash, it's time to use it - or else his whole period as CEO is in danger of being whittled away by a team that nobody wants to watch.
Where would he go? He is a perfect CEO for us but he is a million miles away from an AFL role. Melbourne is a big market for east coast executives and a guy spending his career in Adelaide in radio is not going anywhere.
I think he was "consulting" if you know what I mean before joining Port via support from Whicker

We didn't need to go to China to get sponsorship dollars. It was an ego thing for Kochie.

Not true. We were struggling big time to get sponsors. Crows have this market sewn up. We were up against it from the time we joined the AFL.

No. We did not need to go to China to get that sponsorship.
We could have gotten that sponsorship without wasting our time going to China and arguing about whose home game it is.
Because the Chinese are very very eager to invest in Australia and buy up everything they can. Sponsoring sporting clubs in the big leagues in Australia is good public relations and builds their brand images in Australia.

Going to China for premiership points was all about Kochies ego.

No It was what Mr Gui wanted.

KT doesn't express the depth he once use to in his communications with the members.

The concern I have is that KT believes in our list as being top four. Does he believe in the whole list or the first 22 players? We have a handful of good players but we don't have a team of good players. The other concern is whether his position on Ken remains the same. Hinkley can't build a team with skill and Thomas can't recognise it.

It wouldn't surprise me greatly if another offer came along that KT pulled the pin on the Port job.
As for him not getting a job in Melbourne, if Trigg can get one, I'm sure KT could as well.

That's it isn't it. Pretty much strangle hold on the market by default.

The bit that shits me is having the gall to hang shit on us at every chance because we don't have the same market share. silver spooners

Next month KT will have been at Port for 6 years. The first 4 years involved massive off field restructuring to get rid of the shackles to make us a better footy club. We have become a better one on and off the field but we have plateaued since 2015 re our on field stuff.

I reckon there is a pact by Koch, Kevin Osborn, KT and Ken to stick around to the end of 2018 to finish off the job they decided to start in 2012 together as a group and KT and Kevin started 12 months earlier. Burgo was also in that pact but he got an offer too good to refuse.

7 years as CEO in public companies is a good run unless you effectively own it like Murdoch. I'm not sure how long KT wants to stay but it's only the big financially sound clubs who seem to let CEO's stick around for a decade or more and usually a flag is involved.

1. Bucky had over 12 years, 4 seasons at the Magpies 8 at the Power, finished after the flag in 2004
2. Brian Cook 9 seasons (1990-98) at West Coast,2 flags first in 3rd season, and 19 so far at the Cats for 3 flags - took 9 seasons to get first flag at Geelong
3. Trevor Nisbett 19 and counting at West Coast, 8th season was a flag season
4. Gary Pert 11 seasons at Collingwood 4th season was a flag walked away the other week
5. Trigg 13 seasons at the crows no flag. Sanders was there for 11 seasons took 7 seasons for first flag
6. Andrew Ireland 12 seasons at Brisbane and they won a flag in last season - 2001
7. Myles Baron-Bayes 6 seasons at the Swans and won flag in his second, but Kelvin Templeton had been there 7 seasons before that.
8. Andrew Ireland 8 seasons at the Swans and counting and won a flag in the third season
9. Ian Robson was appointed late 2004 at Hawthorn and left at of 2009 season after falling out with Kennett and got a flag in 4th season of 5 at Hawks
10. Stuart Fox had success at Hawks left at end of 2016 after 7 seasons and 3 flags went to run the MCG.

The other clubs tend to turn them over after 4 or 5 seasons but there are exceptions
* Campbell Rose Doggies 2002-2010 seasons
* Ben Gale at Richmond has been there since 2009
* Dave Matthews has been at GWS since before they entered the AFL
* Steve Rosch has been at Freo since mid 2008
* Peter Jackson was at Essendon 1996 to 2009 with a flag in 2000 but they have had 3 CEO's since then.

yep

I always say it takes 7 years to build a business. 5 years is quick and 10 years is still an impressive effort.

I still can't believe those posters who thought Gus was in our best side, just goes to show that nobody is an expert on Big Footy.

What's really interesting is just how far off he was. Nowhere near it. Shocking conditions but not the cause. And if the so called experts on here couldn't pick it, well with all due respect who cares, they weren't the reason he got picked anyway. Sad. Thank you and bye, Gus. Cue the arguments about not confusing the role with the player... on some other thread.

So angry, read reviews, but only action is come watch us beat up a bottom 8 side decimated by injuries and suspensions. So enthused now after that motivational email, everything's in hand

I don't think that was meant to be a traditional motivational email.

Short and sharp, yes kids there's blood and brains on the walls internally, chin up and turn up please because that's all you can do for your club, the "good news" medium time frame misdirection about hitting 60k which doesn't "prove" we're heading in the right direction, it means a bunch of people half a season ago thought we were, and the "old news" long time frame misdirection - oh look! - here comes a premiership anniversary celebration!!

Don't mind it in the main, but I still see what he did there.

What is KT going to do at this point in time other than block and tackle for the group and hope they get through the "trough of embarrassment" to a better place? Pre-announce a post season footy department review as though we already expect to bomb out of the finals just as embarrassingly?

I'll bet he's really looking forward to facing the punters at Italian Night.

Eternal legend status for anyone who can make him an offer he can't refuse. Test post your offers here, kids... ;)

KT just stepped off a flight from Melbourne

hmmmm.......

Did he walk into one of the food shops and ask for some crackers for the fig jam he just bought? ;)
