The irony of the early contract extension for Ken is that if they had waited a year when we were 11-4, how would the result have been different?

He would probably have a longer contract with no conditions.

He also may have run off to the GC looking for that security, then we wouldn't be talking about sacking him. We are are down on membership and attendances and if he stays, it will get much worse before it gets better. He will need to win at least 8 out of the first 11 to gain members support back and not lose any more.

From 7.27 after the discussion about co-captaincy and KT said we are reviewing it at the end of the year, KT then says;

we can't manage, we know that, but a lot of things we can.

So that's really what's behind all this thinking. So when we are
celebrating our 150th, its a celebration of everything that we are.
The old and the new. Past and future. And we're all comfortable
with how we're moving forward. That's really where my mind's at.


I'm not sure this says that KT fully understands what is pi**ing us off. He is trying, but he has backed in someone who isn't getting results, so he is trying to understand how we can explain what and why he is trying to do, and if we don't improve like he thinks we should and we should expect.

Somewhere later on in the talk he says he isn't resigning and is going to be around for awhile.

That makes it sound like next time he is going to do a Facebook poll...

Obviously DK thought he was a superstar but looking at those wins more closely, there was a lot of room for improvement.

This is like giving a broker your life savings to invest and he passes that on to his team to invest for you, after 7 years you find out that almost all of your cash is gone.
Your broker goes on to explain that they made a few mistakes along the way and he takes responsibility for that and maintains to keep faith in him and the team and we will try to be better. Mean time, he implores you to keep investing and you keep him employed along with the team.

Kt is an excellent ceo, not in brain cunningham league, but not far off. The one thing the club didnt well and that was the co captains. Kt should have been ontop of it and disallowed ken and the coaches to impliment it. Coaches are going to try everything to win, they dont care about culture or port traditions, its all about wining, which is what we all want. But kt allowing the co captains to be passed is a black stain on his excellent record. Port has one captain and he wears no 1. You can have as many other leaders as you want.

Im sure kt will rectify this next year, our 150 years celebration call for only one captain. End of story

Yes, I think KT's heart is in the right place but someone has misread the situation and KT is left carrying the can. Like you I would be sorry to see KT go. I cannot say the same for those who showed no affinity for Port Adelaide and what makes us tick.

Besides, seeing you attended, I didn't here any body ask KT why Ken can't structure his forward line consistently, why Lycett was was dropped while in very good form and what did Sutcliffe do at the Magpies to warrant selection.

It should not have been up to KT alone, we have this guy running the show who tells us all about Port Adelaide and how he followed them as a kid yet he and his fellow Board Members did nothing. Now the damage is done KT is taking the flak while a bag of wind tell us, 'we know we have to do better.' In a way I do not even hold Hinkley entirely responsible as he is a 'blow in' from Victoria with no idea about what it was like to be part of the glory years and what made them so. Nah I disagree with this. I think everyone at the club is hell bent on winning, its just not happening. The club has made a couple of mistakes, it happens, and those responsible will likely pay with their jobs in time.

Power Plus was making the point that we come on here but don't have the courage to say it to KT's face.
This was my last sentence in my response - What do you think KT would say if you said Ken is the problem and why did you give him a contract extension ?
In other words he would not answer, or he would defend his coach as you would expect.

Fair point but we were 11-4 in the first week of July and was effectively contracted for another three months.

I don't recall any other club recruiting a new head coach in the second half of 2018 so he was at no disadvantage if he wasn't offered a contract extension until mid-August by which time it would have been clear to Koch and the board that his superpowers had waned.

Since 1st November 2018, Wanganeen has replaced Fiachi, Darren Cahill filled the long standing vacant 10th directorship and recently Ross Haslam has resigned and been replaced by Andrew Day.

I have written several times that the board has to be transitioned out over 2, 3 or 4 years with 2 or 3 changes per year.

If Holly Ranson goes and studies in USA with her Fullbright scholarship, their academic year starts on first Tuesday of September after Labor Day holiday, she should resign and that would be 4 changes in 12 months. That's about as good as you are going to get.

Well it's a good start.
I think KT is one of the hardest working CEO's and genuinely wants Port to be relevant in the AFL and is taking the heat for a few people atm.
Ken will most likely have a better 2020 but i really do feel he has wasted away our premiership window, so my stance to replace him is firm.
