My comment re one of the sponsors is not from the first 3/4 years.
Then it does not appear to be a JMS that you are talking about as Renault, EnergyAustralia and Oak were all contracted by 2016 and I don’t regard Gupta as a commercial sponsor but a community partner and a very obvious one to have targeted.

As far as EnergyAustralia is concerned, KT made a terrific presentation to them in 2013.

Anything lower tier than a JMS is not relevant, in my opinion, due to far less revenue being involved.

Edit: Don’t forget, we had no Joint Major Sponsor at all in 2018, and the board made KT’s life a misery because of that for the entire season.

Edit edit: If indeed you are talking about lower tier sponsors the Club employs two general managers to secure and hold on to them ... three, if you count China. The lower tier sponsors and partners are not the CEO’s responsibility. At least, they shouldn’t be. However, I know that KT leaps in at lower levels when he should delegate fully and that has detracted from his performance as a CEO these last few years.

LR just on GFG, do you know how much this arrangement is worth? Dare I ask, is it worth anything?

This is what happens when appointed directors - not to mention an inexperienced appointed chairman slowly learning on the job, supposedly - are allowed to hang around too long, desperate for the undeserved ‘fame’ they associate with a 150th anniversary.
This is not all bad news. For once, it means that THEY KNOW. We are failing, and pretty much people are fuly aware of it inside the club. They are only lying to us; which is actually better than the alternative. We are not ruled by idiots. Moreover, this could be a sign that many will leave after next year. If so, I would consider it an anniversary gift!

All I read was begging people to stay, even though we will go in to next season with the same shit that pissed you all off last season, and the season before that. But here, have a scarf with 150 on it.

Was I the only one that cringed each time KT used the term "Maggies" in his email?

Felt a little... not quite right.

To be fair, he (and Jonas) work and live Port Adelaide every day all day.
I reckon they have earned the right to be considered Port people, especially compared to some of our fans who only watch games on TV 😂😂.

People are understandably pi**ed off. I'm no supporter of KT, but as it stands right now, I'm not so sure what else KT could say to the fans.

Unless it's 'Ken Hinkley has been sacked', nothing. Don't know why he bothers trying.

Based on common sense, and subject to correction or corroboration from anyone who really does know, I’d say the bottom line would be $1,000,000 per annum to start with.

The crux of the partnership, making it a genuine partnership, are the payment terms and whether they have been complied with in 2019.

There should have been an advance payment of $300k upwards, by my reckoning. Was it paid? Has anything been paid so far? One more probe from the floor for Koch at the AGM.

Gui paid his $1,000,000 in advance and in full for 2016, his first year.

Gupta has an international reputation for superbly engineering cash flow to his advantage. He oils the loudest squeaky wheel first, leaves the others in obscurity (serves them right).

When dealing with operators like Gupta it’s essential to keep your cards on the table all the time, ensuring he knows they are there and that you mean business. Does that sound like our CEO these days?

My guess is that the CEO would be leaving the “Money, please, Mr. Gupta!” to Koch ... and Koch would be leaving it to the CEO with no dialogue between them.

I’d be delighted to be surprised.

A report to Club members from the CEO on how the key partnerships and sponsorships are proceeding would be nice.

“Yes, Alice, there is a Santa Claus.”

Thanks for the reply. It’s done little to ease my concerns though haha.

I do wonder what the split is with regards to winning premierships (i.e. money for football) and making our community proud (i.e. money for programs).

The scarf thing and the “we’ve increased the value of the membership packs!” angle is just more evidence the club is lost.

It’s the ****ing coach, stupid.

Yep
About a month ago while on his way to the AS centre one of the cheersquad called out "onya Keith", he paused and then came over to us.
Smiles all round he told us how "brutal" it was when he played against us in the old days at Alberton "I mean it was really brutal".
Lapped up by most it was guffaws all round, it was only yours truly who was thinking carn KT, your over egging it a bit here.........moite.
The whole episode, all 2 minutes of it, had all the hallmarks of some dignitary's feigned affection slash interest visiting a disability centre.
More patronising than condescending there came one of those nano seconds in life when Keith swept up in his own charisma laughingly turned
to me and my cold blank stare.

Yep.

Just ask yourself this question.

How much extra would you happily pay if it meant returning the #1.

I'd pay 20 without even blinking, probably 50.

Yeah, as I read his latest e mail KT is saying, as promised we are engaging with you by freezing memberships for 2020, giving you a 150 year commemorative scarf and a pen that actually works as part of the new improved Membership Pack. No mention of any organisational changes.

Pure tokenism, chuck 'em a few scraps to shut them up.

Agree

You have to keep a tight leash and contractual control with these types.

They are amazing in what they achieve but have little understanding of the impact they have to those they deal with.

You need “hooks and barbs” to keep them honest. This is a commercial term for every time they move or change direction, they feel a hook or barb.

There are two problems,

One- the 149 year tradition is broken and cannot be repaired.

Two- the dickheads responsible for breaking with tradition cannot see where they went wrong.

I do not think money will fix either of those problems and I cannot be bought.

Unless it's 'Ken Hinkley has been sacked', nothing. Don't know why he bothers trying.
There are others (not as wanted, but still would offer hope they've learnt something (anything)).
  1. Co-Captains was a mistake, we'll scrap it prior to membership renewals, so you know we aren't repeating the adding of insult to injury of hiding a shit sandwich until too late.
  2. We've parted ways with Michael Voss.
  3. We've parted ways with Nathan Bassett.
  4. We've parted ways with Chad Cornes.
  5. We won't stop fighting until we have an on-going guarantee from the AFL to wear Prison Bars at least twice every year from 2021 onwards, without having to seek permission every single time
  6. We're undertaking a rebuild and this will involve letting some older fan favourites like Ebert and Broadbent go, not just the low hanging easy fruit like Ryder and S. Gray.
  7. Our development of key forwards has been lacking, we'll be playing 2 KPF's every game, realising these are the positions you most have to weather early underwhelming performances to get the gains later on.

Hence my supporters trust/member co. idea.

Lets see what they do with that.
