Yeah, you wouldn't want to keep blowing prelims...
This discussion is about whether we should be envious of Ken Hinkley. So far it's 8 years and no grand finals, let alone premierships. If it stretched into a 9th season with 0/3 prelims converted into GF's that would be an even worse conversion rate than old Scotty boy. I hope he does it, but Hinkley is yet to prove much yet.

I am not envious of Kenny. Things we pot Scott for like being stubborn and doing silly things in finals Kenny also does.
His teams play decent to watch footy though, so maybe a little bit envious.

Scott is the right current coach for the cats but I think a guy like Hinkley might fit if the group suddenly got dramatically younger. Mark Williams also worth considering in that scenario

Just catempire and I having a bit of fun. Kenny from Camperdown can coach, but he did have a very good list with no injuries to key players and his team was playing on their dunghill in front of their crowd.

He'd be perfect in the Mark Williams role for us. CS sucks the passion out of footy, Kenny injects it back in. Then you just need a 3rd guy to come up with the tactics to win finals....
CS seems to me the most passionate coach going around. Gets lambasted for it. Surely the players love it.

With Knights gone, Enright to Collingwood and Scarlo considering leaving as well would not surprise me if Williams came as senior support plus a host of other new ideas/coaches. Personally I think Chris stays now if they’re all leaving. Unless he thinks also I’m off to Carlton.

They’re v.similar. Both teams didn’t take things seriously. Both had no pressure.

Not reflected in how we play.

Literally from 2012 till now we never have 1st qtr intensity. The 1st time I noticed it was the ‘12 EF against Freo. A final and we took it lightly followed up with more of the same the next year on our own dung hill. Both teams are like that. Something deeply flawed at both clubs.

Scarlett "considering leaving"?

Link??

Enright to Collingwood ?
Mentions here he's fielding calls from both the saints and Collingwood. Not sure how Collingwood can afford him under the soft cap having just signed Leppa and Bolton.

"McClure said that current assistants Corey Enright and Matthew Scarlett were no certainty to be at Kardinia Park next year, with the former being chased by several opposition clubs.

“Matthew Knights is leaving to join West Coast and Corey Enright is being hunted by a couple of clubs,” he said.

“(Enright) could be at the Pies and he’s being hunted by the Saints as well. I don’t think there’s any guarantee that Matthew Scarlett continues to be an assistant coach there next year either."

Hopefully Enright and Scarlett follow Knights out the door.

Gotta laugh at one of the Geelong supporter pages on FB - it's gone into meltdown at the idea of Enright & Scarlett moving on

Some are holding out that it's only "speculation" and until there's an official announcement from the club they don't want to hear about it - they may be surprised because there's not too many times direct speculation in the media where there's not something to it

Others are going on about the club falling apart because of a change in medical staff, Wells & Selwood stuff (like seriously, once Wells was back the only way for Troy to progress/promotion with his recruitment career was to move to a new club) & now we may be losing a few assistants

Kinda like people don't see this stuff happening at other clubs every year and that we've maybe been too stable for too long without new ideas coming in

And I don't get the complaining about the medical staff moving on when those same folks complain about injuries to players...

A lot of people are scared by change......but without it there's no progress.

Would I be the only one in here that would probably be comfortable with trading out Chris for Ken?

He is a pickle in the coaches box yeah but he is all process, process, process with the players. Doesn't believe in getting up for finals, milestone games etc and it is reflected in how often we just completely damp squib them while the other team is red hot and all over us from the get go.
