Would I be the only one in here that would probably be comfortable with trading out Chris for Ken?

Before their PF against the Dogs, you would probably have had plenty of mates. After that complete debacle, there would have to be fewer still in that camp.

Our performance against the Dees was atrocious. But how Port managed to be as abysmal as they were (given all the mitigating factors in their favour, going into that game) is absolutely staggering.

Ken runs Port in an opposite but equal style as the Cats, he plays an attractively attacking but front running system that doesn't stand up in finals.
We play a dour and slow system that doesn't stand up in finals.

will be getting the sack at some point, just a matter of time when his performing so poorly at 0-5.

would you want to bring ken back home to geelong as an assistant coach under Scott? do people rate his ability to continue to contribute to the game, or is he finished entirely??

Why would he want to go backwards after coaching for so long, he's made millions coaching Port he will probably do a Clarko and take time off and then come back to coach a shit team in a couple of years when they need some experience, hopefully not Geelong

why would ken get a second senior coaching gig? not successful enough over his period for that. his finished in terms of that avenue

The only club that might roll the dice on him would be Gold Coast if they can't get Clarkson after they sack Dew. The Suns will be under pressure to appoint someone with senior coaching experience so they'll be his only potential avenue to another gig.

They won't go near Hinkley. His personality is as bland as the 90yr old man next door to me.
They will want an experienced coach with some kind of aura about them. They get the next one wrong and they could fold.

GC was gill’s love child that he was never going to shut down. Now that there will be a new CEO, it is a genuine threat of having the plug pulled on it… I would actually go a different direction and move the GC suns to Tasmania and continue things off down there instead of folding up shop. Think it has the climate to actually take off down in tassie

This is why coaches get replaced after 10 years. Players need a fresh voice.
Geelong were at a similar crossroads but we went hit the draft and went for a superstar player in Dangerfield. Port have already got the likes of Aliir, Ladhams, Finlayson etc, but now they need a Dangerfield and a Cameron to really reinvigorate the best 22.

De Goey be a good get. Not sure there's any top 5 key forwards they could snatch though.

Ken’s done well with that club. 2 Prelims in a row. Last years prelim was a debacle, but is that on him? Reckon both years they finished where their list is in the pecking order.
Maybe Clarkson, Ross Lyon or Chris Scott could negate their deficiencies better and take that club a step further.
They should back him for the season though.

Last year’s prelim performance by Port is probably the worst finals performance I’ve ever seen. Far worse than any of our shockers (including 2012 v Freo, 2016 v Swans).

Port had a fit list and were playing at home after a week off for winning the QF.

Bulldogs had Bont in doubt all week, they lost Keath and Weightman to injury/concussion from their SF team, they were playing in their third state in three weeks (TAS, QLD, SA).

For Port to fail to turn up and the game to be effectively over after 15 minutes was beyond belief.

Hinkley and the players can share the blame, but I honestly can’t ever recall a worse performance given the stakes and the advantages Port had going into the game.

Those two COVID seasons will go down as their wasted flag chances, after winning the minor premiership in 20 and finishing 2nd in 21. Both times they could have met Victorian teams in the GF at neutral venues which will likely never happen again.

Should have deleted this thread when I had mod powers… 😑

So true.
They, supporters, media had that win banked.
Living here listening/reading media in the lead up I couldn't help thinking how they were setting themselves up for a fail. Nobody knows how the club itself handled the build up. The easy win against us certainly helped pump up their tyres, but we were putrid.
The after effects should be a classic case for a collective sports psychology study.
We cannot underrate how those lost opportunities have scarred coach, club, players and fans. Kenny looks beat.
