he was the reason my dad became a fully fledged geelong fan... and in turn i became one, too.

Both Adelaide coaches are Carji winners ;)

Oh, and agree with sentiments of this thread

Sure is. Stoked when he finally got a senior coaching position. Sando and McCartney also great men to come out of our club.

Don't you just love the way the club has built this culture and the way we are contributing to the broader football community, right across the board from coaching to admin to development...makes me think we deserve another flag...

BTW, the catalyst for this thread was the way he's carried himself over the past few weeks topped off by the interview on 360 tonight...impressive.

from what ive seen and heard from kenny, he has a very smart footy brain and hes a good bloke. Will be a great coach no doubt

Damn impressive individual is Ken.
I understand why we look outside of our club for coaches, just look at Bucks, Hird and Voss. They seem to ruin everything. I wonder though how we would have gone if he coached us?? C Scott is a very good appointment regardless.

Listening to Ken and Koch I would want to play for Port if I was in the draft. I have heard them speak over the year and I think they are a club going places. Very inspiring! Also having a captain like Boak who re-committed with belief in his teammates to succeed and I think Ken will enjoy plenty of success!

Now lets smash them in the final!

I'd like to see Ken come back, but not while the 2001-06 guys are still around. There'd be too much history and sentimentality for mine.

That's a good point, it's OK to get one of your ex-players as coach, but not until all his contemporary players are gone. And he needs to have been working elsewhere in the meantime.

.. shame there's not more footage of his playing career on youtube and the like, he was a class player, one of my all-time favourites to watch ..

He was definitely a classy player, one thing he used to do though, and it did my head in all the time. He would run past for a hb on his left foot and he had the worst left foot going around, lol.

Ling will be our next coach after his learning year or two
Sj as strategist

I wish Kenny from Camperdown all the success in the world. Just not today - or anytime against the Hoops...

As much as I want to pound Port tomorrow night, Hinkley is a class act and I wish him some success, but just not against us...
Totally agree. Would love him to coach Geelong. I said the same about Sanderson last year but not so sure about Sando now.

His learning year in the media. Ling has no interesting coaching.
Geelong, in a few years. I know you meant "interest in coaching"!

Ling has a burgeoning media career that will only get better when Ch7 compare him with the likes of Tom Harley and Luke Darcy. He'd look at what has happened to Voss, Hird, and to a lesser extent, Buckley, and ask "is it worth it?"

Great interview on 360 :) Not to sound arrogant but there is something poetic that after derailing the club in the 07 Granny it has been Geelong people (Mackie and Kenny) that have helped get the club up and firing again.
