Article in the Herald Sun suggests that Grundy may als o be a part of this list. Who to leave out for these inclusions?
At least 5 names from the 2007 EF wont be playing (for us) in this game.
They are Adam Schneider, Sean Dempster, Nick Malceski, Peter Everitt and Nic Fosdike. Crouch probably won't play. Richards and Ablett are question marks at this stage (Ablett didn't play against the Pies). Barlow played in that game, so he's not an "inclusion" as such. Kennelly and Buchanan didn't, so they'll need to be squeezed in as well as Mattner. Is it possible Bevan or Mathews could be squeezed out? Maybe.

Here's how I see the changes:
Out: Schneider, Dempster, Malceski, Everitt, Fosdike, Crouch, Richards
In: Mattner, Kennelly, Bird, Jack, Moore, Buchanan, Grundy

i understand buchanan, ablett and kennelly have all indicated they're right to play
the big doubt is richards, i guess, and i'm starting to think grundy will have his spot as a tall defender
if LRT rucks, we have to get another tall into defence
although i still hold out hope LRT is centrehalf back and jesse white is jolly's back-up
but if moore, jack and bird play, as longmire said, it'd be a stretch to think white would also be in

I'd say White's chances this week are somewhere between nil and zilch.

He played in the reserves game last weekend, and the only other "probables/possibles" for senior footy this weekend who also played were Kennelly and Richards (and I didn't even realise til afterwards that Richards had played until I was told he'd been playing for the Rams team). Both those two had played no, or almost no, footy up to that point.

Also has to be said that White was strangely muted on Saturday. I don't recall him even touching the ball once and he certainly went nowhere near the ruck. Again I was later told that he got a knock to his knee early in the game (I didn't see it) so maybe that slowed him down. But it was the kind of game I'd have expected him to approach with gusto and physically dominate, so it was a bit disappointing that he didn't.

liz, I read on a site somewhere that Leo and Davis were given permission to play in the rams match

If they played they were either injured in the first 5 minutes (I was a tiny bit late) or they were wearing disguise and playing for the RAMS (I'd recognise the way they played even if they were in disguise but I wasn't playing much attention to the RAMS team, other than noticing Ranga (who was going head to head with O'Dwyer for most of the game) and, I think, Bruest due to his helmet.

Here's the list:

Sydney Swans
Leo Barry, Ryan Brabazon, Daniel Currie, Nick Davis, Peter Faulks, Tadhg Kennelly, Brett Meredith, Ted Richards, Patrick Veszpremi, Jesse White
Saw Faulks, Brabazon, Meredith, Kennelly, White and Veszpremi. Didn't notice Ted but was later told he played for the Rams. Also playing were O'Dwyer, Smith, Murphy, Bruce, Terlich and Beckmans. Orreal was there watching (as were, at least, Malceski, Everitt and Thornton) but he didn't take part.

what, they played on the weekend?
anyone know how currie went?

Surely you are aware they played? How else do you think people saw Kennelly injure his shoulder?

Currie looked pretty decent. He's a good size for his age and height, won most centre bounces he competed (probably as should be expected given he had a height and age advantage) but also tapped purposefully. He will play senior football and lots of it, injuries permitting. I won't be in the least bit surprised if he's ready to start making a contribution next year once Spida's retired (or if Spida's retired). And I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that he might be thrown into the breach this year, if he's needed.

They weren't all together. Malceski was sitting on his own well back from the goals, with a dog. Everitt was with a couple of other players, I think, but I just can't remember who they were. And Thornton I saw after the game.

Everitt's just said on FSN that he's aiming to be back for the Loins game (round 3).

That's good to hear considering it was his first hit out for 8 or so months and hopefully the groin/osteitis problems that restricted him for close to all of the pre season are behind him.
His tapwork is generally quite damaging and to advantage but his athleticism, skills and clean hands around the ground is what makes him a very good player I reckon.
Obviously I've only played and watched him at TAC/School level but I'd be very surpirised if he didn't hold his own against men and force his way into the seniors if his body/groins hold up.

Also I understand Veszpremi played his first game for the year on the weekend and from what I've read played quite well..
Can anyone plz confirm that he held his own?
He did more than "hold his own". It was a very scrappy game but about 50% of the sheer class that was on display was down to Vezspremi.
(The rest I'll give to O'Dwyer, Smith and Murphy, with maybe a smidgeon to Currie. Most of the rest were eminently forgettable!)

Don't worry :)

In all fairness, the thread strayed off Kennelly's shoulder in the first two posts, but just to keep it on track, I'll put up a question that's been bugging me for a while.

Mattner/Kennelly/Malceski.

What's the best combination, using only two of the three?

Well my eyes must have deceived me or the swans have super natural medicos.
From what I saw Kennelly had dislocated the shoulder, but he has been named so I must have been wrong.
Easily done, great that hes OK.
Good Luck
