Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

Rats.

Not sure who will come in. could bring in another mid and keep Masten and Shuey forward a lot.

If a small forward was tearing it up I'd be ok with them coming in.

Lynch, Darling, Cox and NN is still definitely tall enough. Maybe Stevens to come onto a flank? Sheppard to play a bit of half forward?

I'd have Lycett ahead of McInnes.

Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

terrible news for josh :(

can't over-state his importance to this team, even when he's not kicking bags. hopefully we can avoid dropping off too many games until he gets back.

darling will always give 100%, draw a quality opponent, apply forward pressure, create a contest and bring the ball to the deck so in some ways he can 'replace' kennedy.

mcinnes looked a lot more 'ready to go' than i expected during pre-season but i don't get to see him at wafl every week. he's impressed me more than lycett at this stage.

imho brown has never looked comfortable in the forward line.

i reckon the x-factor is lynch. the best solution for us would be for him to rediscover some of his better form around the ground and on the scoreboard.

Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

This would surely mean that Cox will be playing basically as a permanent full forward.
With Cox, Lynch, Darling and Hill we probably have enough marking power to get by, but having Lycett as a sub to come on if we need another forward or ruck option could be an idea.

Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

This is how Our Foward Line Should look:

Cox, Lynch, Hill.
Masten, Darling, Hams

All those are current foward line players. I know Masten would like to be in the midfield but he is looking dangerous and he will just have to play up thier some more.

We are actually covering this pretty well seeing we are missing Nikoski, Lecras and Kennedy.

Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

He's been playing in the backline at Perth. I'd have McGovern as a more likely prospect up forward.

McGovern is out for 8 weeks with a torn Tendon in the shoulder , which is a crying shame also

Against the stronger VIC / SYD clubs we are going to struggle without Kennedy but opportunity allows players to step up but we have an escuse should we lose

Was really disappointed as everyone with the news but after time to think about it I guess it would be good to see new players given opportunities, McInnes or Newman or Weedon in the coming weeks, we still have a good key position structor and Midfield is fine.
Not sure if we can beat top 4 teams with so many outs but it's interesting times ahead, maybe a blessing in disguise I hope.

Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

Oh. Sh*t.

But we still got plenty of marking talls upfront with Cox, Lynch, Hill, Darling.

This could be Darling's time to announce himself in the AFL as one of the brightest sparks of the future.

Darling's done a damn good job of announcing himself already. :thumbsu:

Re: Kennedy Out for 6-8 weeks

Butler Glass Waters
Smith Mackenzie Hurn
Rosa Priddis Gaff
Hill Darling Masten
Hams Lynch Cox

NN Kerr SSelwood

A. Selwood McInnes Sheppard sub: Brennan

McInnes is a fair way off after seeing a few of his WAFL games, Lycett for mine but the rest of that list looks ok.

Do we need to replace him with a tall? We already have Lynch, Darling and Cox down there. Cox has been doing ok as a target and JK hasn't been much chop just lately anyway. Hill can take a mark too.

Cox and Lynch can help out Naitanui when he needs a rest. Maybe put Waters up in the forward line and Selwood back in the 21.

The only positive is that the injury was early in the season. If everything goes to plan he might only miss 8-9 weeks, so that's plenty of time for him to get a few games under his belt before finals.

If he did it in round 12 then that would have been season ending I reckon.

Why do people have this fascination with moving Beau into the forward line.
Because we already have Hurn, Butler, Smith and Selwood as regulars in the defence. Waters has proven he can take a mark and his pressure would be good on the HF. It also stops his dodgy kicking from hurting us.

Well, didn't Waters kick 4 goals in a preseason game playing HFF a few years ago? Not the worst idea that's been proposed, that's for sure.
