Coach Kenny Hinkley - should he stay or should he go (or will he be here until the end of time)?

Port fans overrating their list and their club. Rinse and repeat year after year.

The personal crap/abuse they post about him on their board is disgraceful. Just a pathetic supporter base who absolutely lives up to their bogan reputation. Wanting a coach sacked is one thing but the level of vitriol they expel is on another level. No coach or person should be subjected to that. He’s a football coach not a war criminal.

And they do drastically overrate their list. The comical belief they harbour that Hinkley is the only thing stopping them from being a dynasty side and living up to their ‘exist to win premierships’ creed is a good source of humour. As if that separates them from the 17 other sides.

In any case… 1 in 25 years in the big league. Just a small fish in a big pond with a feral fanbase.

Question for Port fans, can you see Port rising back to top 4 with a new coach, game plan, and the current youth you have plus an aggressive trade period over the next 2 years?
Stranger things have happened. The fact that we won more games than any other side over the last two years, and I'd argue that we did it largely on the backs of individual players, with very poor selection and gameday strategy, should mean we aren't that far off. The flipside though is that we do have players to replace: Boak, Gray, Amon (leaving), Dixon, Jonas, McKenzie, Fantasia are all looking like they are just about done.

Would I back in Clarko to have us as a threat next year? Yes, possibly. A Kingsley/Yze/Caracella type might take a few years to develop us in to a genuine threat.

At the end of the day though I cant see us winning a flag with Ken and that's all that matters. I just want us to take a risk to try to win again, rather than being so comfortable with stability and underperformance.

Has Ken ever been popular with Port fans?
Seems from day dot he just never seemed to gel with the fans.
He was a superstar and a legend in 2013 and 2014. Everyone was saying "Yes we Ken" and behind him 100%.

Its why in 2015 and 2016 most gave him a break - we had injury troubles, a paper thin list, and he had a track record of great performance in 2013 and 2014 - not all, but most fans didn't see him as the problem.

2017 was when it started to turn, and become clearer that those really responsible for the success in 2013 and 2014 (Burgess, Richo, Walsh) were gone and the poor gameplan and selection strategy started to be questioned. The five years after that were when people jumped off at different times (myself in 2019 for what its worth). After 10 years with no success its very unlikely a coach is still going to have strong levels of support.

Hinkley tried his hardest. That was unlucky and ports dire list fault. You can see they played for uncle Kenny best they could. They tried real hard. Just unlucky but really good comeback. Port board will be pleased.

You can see hinkley made moves in the last quarter but it was players fault. Proved the haters wrong was looking like wipeout.

Brave loss.

Trolls should be called out.

Last 7 seasons, 3 finals series, 2 wins.
Hes done his best, and I don”t begrudge him in the slightest. But Times up.
How much longer do you think we should be “brave” with Ken?
He needs to see out his contract at very least. Again 10 players are willing to walk if they suck him. Why not get give one last hurrah with his list.

6 points against top 4 is a Brave loss

Did you actually watch the game?

No forward structure
No clear ball movement
No ability to stop their run of goals
Another goalless quarter
Terrible skills
Constant turn overs
Missed shots on goal from poor positions
Slow as heck ball movement
Killed on the quick rebound
Poor defensive efforts

Rinse and repeat. It was not a ‘brave loss’. It’s a loss we have seen 100 times and will continue to happen until something changes.

He's a war criminal
If ken Hinkley is a war criminal, then is Ross Lyon one too?

Engimal v3 , is Denis Pagan a war criminal because under his coaching guided north to at least preliminary final every year from 1994-2000?

Is pagan a war criminal for constantly smashing Richmond during that same time period? LoL

Which 10 players are those?

We've given him literally longer to make a Grand Final than any other coach has had in the 125 year history of the league. Why waste another year? Any other club would have sacked him in 2016 or 2017.

* that, we have suffered enough
lol, he took a very s**t Port team and built them up into a competitive unit

Guess you would prefer to just be hopeless then
