B1 & B2 ?

It must really hurt you guys that 2006 will be remembered as the year we went past Geelong. You have held the edge over the past 10 years or so, so i can imagine the pain you must be feeling.

Kent Kingsley punt

RICHMOND has granted Geelong discard Kent Kingsley an opportunity to press for an AFL restart.

Kingsley was given no guarantees with the offer to join the Tigers' pre-season training.

The four-times Cats leading goalkicker and traded Fremantle key position player Graham Polak were the new boys when coach Terry Wallace brought the entire list together yesterday to officially start preparations for the 2007 season.

Kingsley's management contacted Richmond football director Greg Miller to find a summer training base for the 28-year-old former Cat.

"We'll have a look at him over this period of time. Give him an opportunity to train with the group," Wallace said yesterday.

"We haven't made any decisions at this stage. We've got four or five other guys from our affiliate club Coburg down as well.

"I'm not really big on bringing people in just for the sake of it. For their sake as well as ours, you've got to think they're some chance of being able to get there (be drafted).

"I had spoken to him prior to going away and I was comfortable bringing him in to see where he's at."

Kingsley and Polak are in a group, including Matthew Richardson, Darren Gaspar and Nathan Brown, which is a couple of weeks in fitness behind the younger players who have been working with assistant coach Brian Royal.

Polak finished near the back of the field in a time trial around the 3.8km Tan circuit surrounding the Botanical Gardens. And, while Wallace conceded he has considerable work to do on fitness, he's buoyed by the ex-Docker's intent to fully utilise his height and one-grab skills.

"My initial thoughts are that we will play him down back. But I think he can play either end which he has for most of his career," the coach said.
"I suppose we've been light on for tall backs and that has been pretty well documented over a long period of time.

"Had we not gone down that (trading) path, we would've certainly had to go to the table at draft time and get one. And sometimes it takes three or four years to develop them.

"So to get someone who's 22, who had done that first initial period of development, is a bonus. I think whatever he brings over the next 12 months, he's a long-term project.

"He still has a lot of work to do with his fitness base. But he has been here a week now and has shown real enthusiasm."

Left-footer Cameron Howat, who came off the rookie list to play five senior games late this season, was the runaway winner of the Tan lap before the players returned to Punt Road Oval for 45 minutes of ball drills.
"This year we had 14 players who ran under 14 minutes and last year we had four. You don't run around saying they've come back better than ever, but . . . we're reasonably pleased," Wallace said.

:p

only hurts an inch or two in, gets easier over time.

the tiges and cats should run away and play a two team comp on Mediocrasy Island - guaranteed second place at the very least!

Kent can play the swing-man, Pippen syle.

He's a sure thing to be picked up by Richmond.

All they need now is a nickname for the pair of them.

Any suggestions?

In the great tradition of celebrity nicknames, I came up with,

- Kenardson
- Mattsley
- Richking.

(Yes, I am at work, and yes, I am bored :o )

Apart from Graham when Wallace first arrived they have stuck by the youth policy and hopefully it continues again this year. If they had to choose between Kent and J.Cloke I would hope for Cloke purely in that he is younger and who knows a new enviroment just might be what he needs. Having said that my gut feel is that the Tigers may well do the same as last year and draft a kid like White who missed getting picked in the Draft and was thought to be a rookie player at best.

:) UNDER Wallace...two recycled players in two years. Graham:thumbsu: and this year P. Bowden:thumbsu: While I do not think we benefited in any way from the collection of duds recruited under Spud the Dud and those who went before him (see Houlihan, Blumfield, Morrison, Weller, Hudson, Nicholls, Fleming etc. etc.) Wallace seems to have picked his targets quite well!

Would hurt more if the draft was rubbish. I'm not sure it'll be remembered for the year you 'went past' Geelong. I don't know if anyone other than Bitchmoan supporters care to be honest. I guess it is important to have a goal though hey?

In light of Kent's Richoesque goal-kicking ability (nice try, Dice Man!), I'm curious as to whether he's ever been tried back in defence at all?

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha kent in def.... bwahahahaha ahhahahahaha sorry I thought this guy said try kent in hehehehehehehehe...

sigh

The guy suffers from the Benz if he runs up the ground too quick, he lacks the physical presence to be a defender.

As a fellow champion full forward I can vouch for the exceptional courage, speed, strength and courage required to play the hardest position on the ground.
Kent can play anywhere, anytime and will prove to be the difference between Richmond and the others.
And you can take that to the bank.
LD.

Oh yes the old "at least we get a better draft pick" consolation theory - shows just how much ground your team lost.

Yes, our team went backwards... badly backwards. in fact, we had a **** year, and Richmond beat us!!
All that does is prove that GFC is superior to RFC, because you consider 2006 to be a good year, yet you only pipped us by 2 points!
I get frustrated by GFC board and supporters accepting mediocrity, but Richmond is in a different realm entirely! You've made it to 9th... well done, now it's time to rebuild!:D

After 6 years on this site I think I've finally found the funniest thing I've ever read -click here :D

What - one person voices and opinion and everyone else shouts him down - sounds like typical Bigfooty posting to me.

If the tiges could get him for nicks, why not.He did have a few good seasons at geelong.Might surprise a few people if he can get his kicking boots happening. He is a strong overhead mark, and could add a few goals a game .Wallace seems to a have a good knack into getting the best out of average players, who may not play well at one club but have a resurgence at another.

yes, but if the roles were reversed (i.e. Cats finished 9th, Tigers 10th) we'd still be saying we had a crap year, and not gloating like you're trying to as if finishing 9th is something to be semi-proud of. Again, mediocrity!:thumbsd:
