Heard on the radio champion trainer fred kersley was kicked in the head by a horse today at track work. Not sure how serious it is, so any information in here would be good.

Here's hoping its not serious, get well soon Fred.

Oh no, echo that, have met the man a few times and he's a genuine gentleman. Hope he's ok.

Just heard this news aswell. I hope he is OK and makes a full recovery because it has been a terrible year for deaths of great Aussies.

Perth trainer Fred Kersley is in hospital after being kicked in the face by a horse at his stables this morning.

Kersley is in the Royal Perth Hospital awaiting surgery on a series of head injuries after the sudden and powerful blow.

The trainer of former champion racehorse Northerly was speaking to a track rider when the young horse lashed out with both hind legs - one understood to have to struck his head - the other in the chest area.

It is reported that Kersley has suffered a broken nose and jaw and he is to undergo surgery later today to have a metal place inserted in his face.

Kersley has been in the headlines over recent weeks as the trainer of the pin up Perth racehorose Marasco - who on Saturday scored a brilliant win in the Winterbottom Stakes.
