I thought it was the coach, but I don't think it matters a lot.

I think Myers will be alright.

Perhaps the recent drafting of Davey and Jetta (and Davey's 2007 was pretty good), swayed them?

Didnt want to start another thread but thought this is the most topical.

Listening to Matthew Lloyd on SEN make some interesting comments about EFC.

- Mentioned that EFC has an underdeveloped midfield and pointedly mentioned the club using first round draft picks on talls

- Did an exercise rating the list of the bottom 8 teams ( as it stands now ) and Essendon was in the bottom 5.

So it was 4th, you mean?

Not really surprising, considering there's Melbourne, North Melbourne, Adelaide. Adelaide still has one of the better lists, IMO, while Melbourne are jam-packed full of quality top-picks, and North have drafted pretty bloody well.

Hardly earth-shattering analysis from Lloyd, by the sounds of it.

Melbourne/Adelaide

Richmond/North

Essendon

WC/Brisbane/Power

Even though he had his flaws, Sheeds would have us in a better place now than what Knights and his crew have.

We would have Cyril and Cousins taking the load off a terrible midfield. I reckon he'd have worked with Lovett enough to get him to play 150 games of football with us.

There'd be no way he'd play Welsh in the midfield and I reckon he'd have made a number of astute decisions to reinvent himself.

I think we can safely say at this point in time it was a mistake to get rid of him. I wanted him gone after the Anzac day selection debacle but I'm happy to say I was wrong.

The club's in disarray because people like yourself have trouble letting go of the past and won't let it move forward. That's where the inner turmoil's coming from, just as Tim Watson said the other day.

The win/loss ratio? We were just as much of a joke, if not more, in 2005-2006 than we are this year. We made finals in 2009, and our side's improvement came from younger players - with the exception of David Hille -, as opposed to 2007 when a 34 year-old won our best & fairest, and most of our games were won on the back of Hird, Fletcher, Lloyd and Lucas.

Knights has taken our side and club forward from where Sheedy left it.

We just need somebody to take it further and back to where we belong.

So we've moved forward yet we need someone to take it further? Someone else? Why when the person we have is taking us to the right spot and is doing a better job than the predecessor?

Well said mate. I think people often forget Sheeds last 3 years, his list management, and 'sports science - recovery etc' was woeful. Fair to say Knights inherited an ordinary list.

Where we struggle is with players in the age bracket of 25 - 28, we don;t have many. Have a look at the players that always get Geelong and/or St Kilda up....

Sheeds did identify this, but reacted by drafting and trading for short term solutions - Murphy, Alvey, Cupido etc..

Without knowing the plan, obviously we've gone hard on KPP. Now, starting from last year we're focusing on midfielders with ^ draft picks.

I'm fairly confident Knighter has us on the right track. :thumbsu:

I said Knights took us beyond where Sheedy had left us.

Doesn't mean he's the right man to take us to our next premiership.

Yet another strawman tactic, kelvin.

Based on the collective opinions of the 16 AFL clubs, yes I'm pretty certain.

I suspect you not only believe yourself destined to win the the lotto, but that you will stumble across the winning ticket blowing down the street.

Haha, you're funny.
I didn't realise that the 16 clubs all shared one collective opinion on this matter, and that they've appointed you to speak on their behalf....you must be very important.
