no, wouldn't he be a unrestricted free agent.
Nope.
Really? I reckon Butcher is some sort of talent. Would love to pick him up.

John Butcher from Port would have to be some sort of option. Seems to be out of favour at Port.
Jack Watts?
north have tall forwards coming out of the ying-yang. surely one of them is up for grabs?
Petrie 30yo (31 in Oct) 197cm 101kg
Hansen 24yo (25 in Aug) 197cm 98kg
Tarrant 24yo (Apr) 196cm 97kg
Daw 22yo (Mar) 195cm 97kg
Black 22yo (23 in Nov) 192cm 88kg
Kennedy 21yo (22 in Oct) 192cm 89kg
Curran 19yo (20 in Sep) 195cm 96kg
Wood 19yo (20 in Sep) 192cm 84kg
I think the age of most of them is the pleasing sign, Petrie is the only one who will be retiring in the near future.
I am most excited about Tarrant, Black, Wood and Curran. Kennedy and Hansen will likely be pushed as KPD and Daw being a ruck/fwd utility.
Not sure how sustainable it is having that much depth but it is nice knowing Tarrant and Hansen can be out injured and we can give guys like Daw and Black games.

when's black's contract up? do you reckon he'll start to 'miss home' once your injured forwards are back and now that everyone is losing their collective shit over daw?Petrie 30yo (31 in Oct) 197cm 101kg

Yeah... Like you said Coleman medalists don't grow on trees. There is no way that Richmond won't re-sign Riewoldt. I don't know of any players that fit the bill that realistically we could get.I detest Jack Riewoldt, can't stand the sight of him, but there's no doubting that he can play and Coleman medallists don't grow on trees
He is out of contract at the end of the year, and if we are going to trade for someone why not pursue a trade for solid talent like Riewoldt not marginal players like Hansen?
Of course this is all highly unlikely, no doubt Richmond want to sign him and he wants to stay, but my point is if we are going to lose first round picks and quality players like Zac Clarke we may as well be trying for top players.
Buddy FA still looks the best though.

I honestly think going after Butcher would be a dream come true if we could get him but I can't think of any others.
I think the most likely scenario is that we trade for a pick upgrade and pick a highly rated junior.
Butcher was something like pick 7 at the draft. Dunno what's going on at the moment with him, but it's hard to believe Port would ever let him go for anything less than an emerging gun in a position that they are weak in.
I have no idea what positions they're weak in.
Yeah, I think we would be mad not to, I just don't see it happening. Would love for it to happen though.I think Butcher will go back to Victoria if he leaves Port. And he seems injury prone, Gumbleton like, and we all know what happened there
I seriously think there are many things pointing to us having a red hot go for Buddy. The history of doing the same with Cloke, the space we have freed on the cap, Bond's predilection to avoid trading etc.

Don't know about Butcher. If Port die hards don't rate him, can't see him being any more value to us than Kep.
well, i moved to melbourne 11 years ago and i don't blame him. the place is tops. north will have a problem in a year or two, though. petrie will probably get the arse in the short term but one of the other four nearest to him is going to looking over the fence soon.lol Daw is exciting but not sure the output matches the hype atm, his athletic feats are entertaining though.
Black extended to end of 2014 a year or so ago. He has always said that he loves it here in Melbourne so not sure about go home factor, then again, i doubt anyone is going to say anything different until they have purchased the flight ticket back home.
It is going to be interesting. Scott said during the week he wont be dropping Black this week even if Tarrant and Hansen are available so that is probably a good sign for Black.
