Watching the Foxtel cup, the kid Ben Brown playing for Werribee looks a player. 199cm, 98kg, can take a mark and kick straight. Looks young. Anyone know his story?

I watched it too - would love to see him in action against better opposition but on tonight's form, I'd be having a long hard look at him.

Bump.

Now that we can def. scratch Taylor and Buddy we can re-assess what our real needs are. Options seems to be:

Black - prob. not even on the market, would be expensive but would be nice.
Gumby - Certainly will be on the market but some Q's
Watts - Does he have enough mongrel in him?
White/Hansen - Certainly will be on market, not at all keen myself.
Other traded AFL player
Draft/Rookie draft - Hold onto our cash and picks and grab a mature body out of the state leagues like Ben Brown above plus maybe another young KPP.

Out of those names the only one I would consider is Black. He is young but has looked good whenever I have seen him.

Gumby is too injury prone, White and Hansen are spuds and Watts would cost too much. I do think a hard coach like Ross and a demanding core of senior players could turn watts around if we were to get him but Melbourne will want too much.

Assuming that he isn't scrubbed by ASADA, WADA or whoever is there any appetite here for Cramerie as I understood his contract is up this year.

I'd be looking seriously at a deal for Gumby and Pears, a second and third rounder. Move Faulks on. Jesse too.

Then use our first pick on the best available tall.

Wow, who else are you going to cut/trade to make room for Gumby, Pears + 3 draft picks (1st, 4th and 5th rounders)?

I'm interested to know what's held Pears out of the Dons over his career? He's always seemed like a capable defender to me.

Some comments about Ben Brown here:

His form this year though may be on the up. Certainly seems a rookie prospect at best.
Yeah, Chris25 (I think), our man on the D&T board doesn't like him much. Pretty sure it was Chris?
He looked pretty good in the Foxtel Cup the other night but that was on the strength of a some decent leading, marking and kicking at goal. Not sure what he's like when its on the deck or his running or anything else.

Yes. Crameri would be a perfect fit for us. He's quick, strong and can tackle/ has good defensive pressure. Very strong hands. Only downside is he can shank his set shots at goal and he's a little short for a KPF (although he plays taller than he is).

He plays like a real key forward.
Leads hard and has strong hands.
When ive seen him play he looks like a slightly less solid JDarling.

Its exactly what we need.

We do not need a tallish guy playing there just because he is tall.
Need a real forward not a makeshift forward.

It then creates space for others like Pav and Mayne to work into plus makes us harder to defend.

Watts has all the athletic ability and skills to be a damn good player, heart and mindset is the only doubts i have about him.

Crameri No, he is a Mayne like option and i think Mello could fill that role if something was to happen to Mayne.

Yep, that was me. I haven't seen a lot to suggest he'd be much more than a good VFL player, but just doesn't have the strings to make it at the next level. Like that guy in the WAFL who kept kicking bags, Chad Jones? I think Brown will get a chance, but he looks a poor mans Koschitzke to me.

Funnily enough I thought Jones could have made it if he didn't have all the injuries.
Do you see him lacking pace, agility? Or just generally not enough tricks?
Cheers for your input Chris.

192cm and 88kg according to their website.
Thats what I mean,Black would match up with Mundy.Fyfe,Barlow.Do we need another mid:rolleyes:
Ironically we chose the skinny forward pocket over the key forward.. Our skinny forward pocket is now taller and probably heavier than him now, and he's now a mid.

I have said this on the "Freo say no to Buddy thread"

I don't Mind Jesse white at the Swans, he is 25, 197 cm and 107 kg. He kicked 3 goals against the crows last week. Pick 76 from the 2006 draft.

Another Player I don't mind looking at is Shaun Mckernan at the crows. He is 196 cm and 99 kg. He can play up forward and in the ruck. He was taken at pick 28 in the now legendary 2008 AFL draft.

Jesse White, Shaun Mckernan WTF you dont trade for average at best players unless you are desperate to fill a hole in your squad.
I would play Keps before either of those 2

I don't know enough to comment on those particular players, but we are pretty much at the point where we are desperate, right?
It will be nice if Keps comes back the same player, and/or if Flappy Tabs comes on as hoped, but if neither happens we have a big gap.
The good thing about trading for average at best players is you don't have to sell the farm to get them.

Who says about trading a draft pick to get one of these guys? Im talking about getting one at the PSD.

Still If Mckernan was available at the PSD he should be worth a look.

Also I will ask this.... How close is Tarberner to getting his debut game? I read one of his recent games he got 25 disposals and 3 goals in one of his recent games for Peel thunder.
