Riewoldt would be so much better than Buddy. Personality aside even. He'd kick 100 goals at least once in his career considering the supply he'd be getting from the midfield. He'd also go from having the worst forward pocket, Jake King, to the best forward pocket combo, Ballantyne and Walters. We'd be pretty much formidable – an All-Australian guts, pretty much.

Realistically, I can't see him leaving Richmond. He just screams (and whinges. And points) Richmond to me.

I agree, he would be a superstar in WA playing for Freo. He seems like the kind of guy who would enjoy playing in a two team, football state. I think money will talk for Jack, considering his reason for not moving on contracts yet was that he was waiting to see what happened with Franklin it makes me wonder if he has his sights set on a big five year deal.

Well I'd love for that to be the case. Realistically, Buddy's probably going to the Giants (though I reckon his ego is loving all the media speculation, the 'will he or won't he?'). So with our salary cap space, Reiwoldt would be at Fremantle. He'd be so polarising in Perth media and you could imagine those pricks on Channel 7 calling him a sook at every opportunity.

But I just can't see him leaving the Tiges. Especially if they make the finals.
 
I heard lloyd on the radio this morning, didn't deny Freo had interest in Riewoldt - actually said "he would look good in purple" - but then added that he is just an assistant coach and he has no say in who is and isn't drafted
But as Alfonz said, we don't do trades like that

Great get if we do but asking price would be tough and Hill proved today how good he is

GWS are chasing a ruckman, so potentially zac clarke, but he is newly re-signed and with the way he has held the ruck up this year, I wouldnt want to lose him anyway.... as you say, i think we are just going to have to get lucky ala north melbourne with drew petrie (pick in the 50's)

McCarthy is rated a top 20 pick(afl.com.au), I wouldn't mind if we picked him with our first pick.
 
I like the idea of picking up Marsh, the BF Freo board celebrates that we picked a tall, then we play him as a midfielder and the BF Freo Board lament a missed chance at picking a key forward.

Marsh goes on to be a linebreaking, burst clearance, ground ball winning midfielder.

He wont leave Richmond.
They have some serious talent there and would be expecting good things to come, so will be reluctant to leave.
I dont believe their coach has the ability to make full use of it and get them to where they think they are headed.

Even if he did, im not convinced he is suited to our game style.
He would be required to get off his ass and work alot harder getting up and down the ground, plus chase and tackle alot more.
Buddy is much more suited to our game style but we were never in the hunt to get him.

However if the Force were to pick up Oconner(not likely after last time) and Beale.
That would mean Buddys best mates Wellingham, Oconner and Beale are in WA and would make it extremely tempting for him.

Looking more and more likely we could get nobody.
Then they will go to draft and use 1st pick on yet another mid/flanker and hope to strike gold with later picks for a kpp.

Lynch would def consider it.

For those that still dont think key forwards are necessary for our gameplan.
Just look how much difference Pav makes even without kicking bags.
He turns half chances into goals, thats 2 extra goals a game to our total just in class and understanding of the position.
Then look at how much easier life becomes for Mayne.
No longer gets opponents best defender or has to worry about others dropping off guarding his space, they go to help out against the real key forward.

While we have Pav in the team we are still 1 key forward away from being flag favourites.
When Pav is gone we could be 2 away again.
So we must do something at the end of this year to fix it.

If we play our absolute best with immense pressure and effort we could still win it this year.
Would be so much stronger with more forwardline strength to kick the 2-5 more goals a game making winning easier.

On the subject of Adelaide forwards Lewis Johnston from what I've heard is doing alright in the sanfl. More of an athletic type from what I've heard but is a potential low risk high reward type player. Wouldn't cost much surely.
 
I would rather we threw whatever we could at North Melbourne for one of preferably Black or Tarrant

- Riewolt wont come to WA, he is just trying to get market pricing on his contract
- Gumby might, but he would need to cleared first (same with Cameri)
- Sensitive, but Clarke from Melbourne?
- Shaw from Port?
- Kersten from Geelong?

Or try and trade for the #1 pick, but I doubt we would be prepared to give up what we would need to for that ... But a key forward is clearly the missing piece in our squad and our young guys cant hold that down yet
 
Is Shane Kersten a key forward? At 190cm would he be anything more than Chris Maynes back up? If he basically forces geelong to trade him back home I don't see why not but he's not going to win us a premiership or solve our key forward problem IMO.

I wonder if kersten has changed his tune about not wanting to play for us and getting out of the fish bowl that is Perth. If you remember back to his draft year in 2011 he didnt have the greatest things to say about us. The fact he is yet to play a game and is probably a few spots down the pecking order at the Cats, he may be starting to wonder whether a change of club could be the best thing for huis career. A bit like a few of the young guys we've picked up.

Maybe if Sheridan wants to leave we can just do a straight swap...in saying that though ive got no idea what kersten has been doing in the VFL. Has he been living up to his pre-draft hype at all. I remember how devo everyone was when we passed on him. Cant remember who we selected instead though.
