Tbh I disagree, White has shown in glimpses he can play at afl level (right now), Taberner hasn't (right now). He may not be the best player in the league but he a is better option than having no key forward at all or a player who simply isn't ready to perform at the required level.
You'd certainly hope that White had shown glimpses that he could play at AFL level. He's had 7 years at one of the most professional clubs in the league, and 56 games to show it. Taberner has had less than a year, and 2 games to show it. White also weighs 20kg more than Tabs.
Jesse White:
Weight - 107 kg
Age - 25
Years at AFL club - 7
Games played - 56
Matt Taberner:
Height - 197 cm
Weight - 89 kg
Age - 20
Years at AFL club - 1
Games played - 2
Taberner will take a bit of time. We still have Kepler to come back in next year, but if White came cheap then I could see him being worth a trade.
I think Taberner has showed glimpses that he may develop into a player of AFL standard. He mightn't be there right now, as he's still too young. The advantage someone like White offers is that he's ready to go now.
