Tbh I disagree, White has shown in glimpses he can play at afl level (right now), Taberner hasn't (right now). He may not be the best player in the league but he a is better option than having no key forward at all or a player who simply isn't ready to perform at the required level.

You'd certainly hope that White had shown glimpses that he could play at AFL level. He's had 7 years at one of the most professional clubs in the league, and 56 games to show it. Taberner has had less than a year, and 2 games to show it. White also weighs 20kg more than Tabs.

Jesse White:
Weight - 107 kg
Age - 25
Years at AFL club - 7
Games played - 56

Matt Taberner:
Height - 197 cm
Weight - 89 kg
Age - 20
Years at AFL club - 1
Games played - 2

Taberner will take a bit of time. We still have Kepler to come back in next year, but if White came cheap then I could see him being worth a trade.

I think Taberner has showed glimpses that he may develop into a player of AFL standard. He mightn't be there right now, as he's still too young. The advantage someone like White offers is that he's ready to go now.

Exactly my point we need players ready to go. Maybe we can take a punt again this year and hope we get the right players in the draft but its more than likely such players won't be ready in 2015. Even Thorp I would imagine would not have close to preparation required to play straight away by playing in the TSL. Can someone let us know of any other mature age forwards? I was keen on Justin Hardy last year but seems he's fallen right off the radar.

Black is under contract until the end of 2014 season. It would take an absolute ton for North to trade him with Petrie coming to the end of his career. Sheridan, Suban and our No 1 pick is the best I can come up with as a potential trade. Can anyone come up with something better to get Black to Freo?

No way NM will accept that deal.
Black is one of the best KP forward prospects in the game. You don't trade players like that for peripheral best 22 players of the Suban /Sheridan ilk.

It would take something along the lines of Hill + Sheridan + 1st round pick. And it would probably require the consent of Black + him wanting to leave NM.

Not going to happen. Essendon certainly won't be allowing contracted players to leave en-masse because they don't like the 'culture' as it sets a precedent. One I fancy other clubs wouldn't be keen to encouage either

The club has failed it's players. Surely there will be a massive backlash from the players when they are sanctioned. Who would want to stay at a club that had allowed the mad scientists to use them as human lab rats. They have been treated with utter contempt by the club, and I can't imagaine they will all be feeling incredibly loyal to the club. Hell, some of the stuff they have been injected with is not certified as safe for humans, and the rest is dodgy as hell. If these players start showing side effects for a regime of performance enhancing and experimant drugs, will the club pay for their treatment? Will it pay for their funerals? Will it pay for councilling of their widows, and children? The club has basically shown that it cares more for glory than it does for it's players, surely the players must have some feelings about it. If I was playing for Essendon (skill, age, and fitness aside obviously :-| ) I'd be pissed as hell. I don't even know how they can pull on the club colours. If my employer treated me like that, I'd not only quit, I would sue for everything that I could, and probably encourage anyone who'd listen to boycott it.

Essendon are a bloody disgrace to the sport.

Yeah I agree with your concerns about our list lacking KP stocks.

IMO we will drop from a top4 team to a bottom top 8 team once Macca/PAV/Sandi retire. It will require a mini rebuild. Unless of course we can attract some stop-gap options until Taberner and co mature. ( + we still don't know if he's going to make it anyway).

Everyone has forgotten about Moller, Howson, both have the talent to play AFL. With Taberner, Smith, Hannath, and Morabito, things are far from dire.

I know North won't want peripheral players for Black ... but they would be getting a pretty decent player in Suban, a midfielder with much potential in Sheridan, plus say pick 15. I think that is overs for a guy who hasn't yet established himself as a genuine gun. Let alone switching Suban with Hill, that would be a shocking trade from Freo.

North would jump over backwards to swap Hill for Black. We would be getting rooted if we did the deal as you mentioned. Black is no superstar, he's played in a tall forward line where Petrie attracts the best tall defender. Not to mention the attention Thomas and co. get.

He's one of 20 young key forwards who've played a handful of games and kicked a handful of goals.

They won't be ready in time. Smith , Hannath Taberner are all 19. Moller is more of a ruckman (well he is a ruckman...). Don't know much about Howson.

Also remember Johnson is 29.

The big uncertainty is Morabito.

However, on our side is time and money. We should be able to attract a couple of high profile , or at least serviceable imports to fill our list holes as needed. The big 3 have 2 years or so left. So that's 2 pre seasons to utilize the free agency system.

Jesse White doesnt even get a goal a game in the AFL. We are not going to draft this spud, as it would undo all the hard work we have done over the last 5 years and would make the drafting of Anthony look like a master stroke.

I'm not sure tbh. North are lacking in outside players who can break the lines (what team isn't?). They have a good inside ball winning contingent already.

Black looks like a gun .I've watched a few of his games, being in Melbourne.

That's what it would take anyway: Hill and our 1st round pick.

Yeah I would be against drafting White. Hasn't done much.

Still having him in the side is a better option than nothing. Beggars can't be choosers.

Anyway. As WC (05, 06) showed, this game is won in the midfield, which btw is our strength and should be for at least another 5 years or so. Our ruck stocks are also fine.

Defensive weaknesses can be covered by our gameplan. So long as the midfield applies the pressure, we'll be a defensive powerhouse.

Yup.

Outside of free agency , players rarely move, and when they do it's because they wanted to, or for strategic reasons that benefit the trader (in this case NM).

We will have to give up a star to get Black. No way around it.

I'm glad that I am not faced with managing our list and making the hard decisions on trading matters. I trust our administration to make the right decisions. If it so happens we lose someone of the caliber of Hill , then I will accept that, if they think it is in the greater good.

There have been heaps of promising kids who play 1/2 good season then don't go on with it.

IMO he's in the same category as j.jenkins, t.Lynch, j.lisle, j.daniher, Patton, Howe, S.Reid, Gunston, Darling, T.Lee, Butcher, Vickery

I'd rate Dixon above him, and Cameron streets ahead of both. The only one I would give up Hill and plenty for is Cameron.

Mitch Clark also averages a goal a game. (97 from 97 games compared to 60 from 61) The reasons for which are roughly the same. What a spud that Mitch Clark guy is...

Edit: Kepler Bradley has 87 from 115 and any excuse that can can be made for White can be used for Kepler. I'd say White despite his reputation is a significant upgrade as much as we love Kepler.

Mitch Clark played a large number of games in the ruck, when played in the forward he did show ability. I am glad we didn't get him as I think it would have stopped Zac Clarke's development.

Kepler played a lot of games in the wing, and no body expected him to save our forward line. We already have Kepler on our list as well as Taberner, Howson etc why are we going to add another player that will take up a list spot.

They players aren't going to be sanctioned in any meaningfull way. If they do it will go to court with the players association and straight away. The club will carry the can in the form of fines and possible points loss. Remember the AFL is not subject to any rules, other than voluntarily, other than it's own.

I don't think the players will be banned, but what player will want to stay at a club that don't get premiership points for the 2013/14 seasons, and that risked the players long term health for an unfair advantage on the field? Surely there will be a few who want out of that club. The club may not want to let them go, but once a player has declared that they want out, most clubs will try to accomodate them.

He is worth a punt for this year alone. He has kicked 3 goals each against the crows and GWS. Not world beaters obviously. Jesse White would be a stop gap player.

Some people will be against recruiting Jesse white considering hes 25 and has played only 60 games. Keep in mind Freo traded pick 61 to get Jonathan Griffin and he was 25 at the time he was 25 years old with only 41 games under his belt.

Would White get a game before Taberner, Hannath and Bradley?

Pavlich will play next year, so we only need him to fill a spot when he is injured or being rested.

White he may be an upgrade on those three players, I do not believe it is enough of an upgrade (if any) to use up a spot on our list.If we sign him which extra player will you delist?

If Freo do trade their 3rd round pick Jesse White during trade week, then Kepler Bradley might be in the firing line as he is out of contract this season.

Pitt and Faulks are 2 I think are as good as gone...

If the club face a ban it will be backdated imo from when they started doing it.
so the 2012 points will be scrapped and same as 2013.
So they will just get on with life as normal, with 2014 being elligible for points again.
Absolutely no way the AFL will make them play with the whole world knowing no points are up for grabs.
Announcing it at end of this season before finals, players will be pissed they miss finals but it will be all behind them and done with.
AFL will be pushing very hard to have no bans at all.
Hopefully WADA come in and say sorry you were told it was legal to take but the players gained an advantage from it and must face sanctions.
They deserved to be banned just for what they subjected their players to anyway.
The legal stuff they were putting in the players is sick enough.
They went way too far.
Also doesnt the AFL have some rule about no injections?

If Freo traded for Jesse White it proves when it comes to talls the current recruiters have no freaking idea and must be replaced.

That's our issue though. Our window is open. We've got Pav, a two year gaps and then prospects like Taberner, we hope will step (not commenting on his potential to do so). We need player to fill that two year gap and in my opinion. Jesse white is the best option we have considering value for money. We've likely missed all the big names. He's a fringe player at his current club with a long list of forwards ahead of him. While at our club he'd be playing THIS WEEK and in all liklihood will play for the time we spend waiting for a Taberner to step up
