My very limited experience of watching the two of them play would be for Taberner to play CHF and run his backside off, taking marks on the wing while McGovern played out of FF and operated predominately between the pocket and half forward line while the resting ruckman leads straight up the guts.

I know it's not feasible to consider him in freo colours but liked the game of aaron black again tonight. Didn't kick a goal so stats would say he wasn't an effective forward but he played well higher up the field and had 19 quite effective disposals.
Just like how he moves and his athletic ability ( plus he can read the play ) , has real burst power, speed and balance which didn't fade out during the game.
North bagged a good one there...

Reckon the sink will be thrown at him at some stage over the next few seasons, firmly in the scope.

I think we should try and pick up both Watts and White, we should have enough coin.

I was thinking along those lines as well. But who do you take out to accommodate them both?

already got to make harsh decisions in terms of delisting, white could be a mellington + 3rd rounder type thing and watts maybe a sheridan + 2nd, to me that's getting rid of to many and i'de be offering melbourne something like sherdian + Sutcliffe + 4th Rounder for there 4th round effectively giving us our 3rd round back.
would be
Out -
Mellington
Sheridan
Sutcliffe

In:
Watts
White

Lose some young and talented outside players so would then look to draft one in the sheridan or sutcliffe mould with any pick

Michael Lourey is a goal kicking tall forward playing for Frankston in the VFL. Currently the leading goal kicker in the VFL with 48 goals year from 15 games. He is a long kick and can run all day. A reasonable contested mark. But can find space and take some easy marks too. Defensive pressure looks pretty good from the couple of games I have seen this year. His set shot work could probably be a bit better but is still very capable of stepping up and becoming a reasonable tall forward at the next level IMO.

The above quote is from the drafting and trading forum.

Chris25 - Have you seen him play? Does he have the ability to play AFL?

Lewis Johnston for the crows kicked 4 goals against Port in the showdown in his 1st game this season, I think he is also out of contract as well.

More of the Mayne ilk I thought?

Well he is 1 cm smaller than Jack darling. Im curious if we will get McCarthy from east freo. I know Freo are desperate of Key forwards. I still reckon Lewis Johnston could fit in that forward flank. Would you be happy if Freo got a key Forward with our 1st pick, Lewis Johnston taken in the PSD and another Mature Aged Key Forward?

I honestly don't know, but I know bugger all about him so I couldn't give a balanced opinion on him. Hell, I doubt he's even out of contract anyway.

He is out of contract this season.

had a 2 year contract which ends this season. I reckon if he plays more games and kicks more goals, he might be trade bait.

i was interested when talking to one of my mates and he said that essendon needed a key-forward (he supports them) and me and my other friend (who both barrack for dockers) were shocked, really? Essendon, he went on to make a few good points though. He wants a key-forward who can kick 2 goals EVERY WEEK and said Hurley's good games are 2 goals and is more valuable down back, you can't count carlisle coz he's played in the backline, crameri kicks goals but is not a real kpf. Gumbleton doesn't play and Daniher still looks a little off which i would generally agree with. All these guys are not TOP QUALITY KPF's yet are talked up to be such. Should all come reasonabely cheap except hurley and carlisle due to backline issues but we would have to pay tons to get some of them. Daniher is young so yer should be expensive but he went on to say that when TBC plays forward he is the best KPF in thr side

It's unlikely we'll deal with Essendon, they will want massive overs for any of theirs players. We may pick up Gumby as a backup if we can get him for a bag of chips. It looks more likely we'll try for Jack Watts, Jesse White or one of Norths surplus talls.

I was against it last year but hasn't Gumbleton been fit all year just not breaking into the team?

Seriously can't believe people keep mentioning Watts, the bloke is a joke of a footballer and Melbourne will want a lot for him.
