Forward Line - With MARSH
C - Walters, Crowley, Hill
HF - Fyfe/Barlow/Mundy, Marsh/Morabito, Mayne
FF - Ballas/Walters/Crozier/Neale, Pav, Clarke/Sandi (Maybe Griff)

When Moller Comes On (Assuming Pav Gone)
C - Walters, Crowley, Hill
HF - Fyfe/Barlow/Mundy, Marsh/Morabito, Mayne
FF - Ballas/Walters/Crozier/Neale, MOLLER, Clarke/Griff

Need heavy rotations coz of Cap reducings.

But This Forward Line will always have one player to tall to defend and as well as 1 to quick.
Likely that
1st Defender - Pav/Moller (Depending yr)
2nd Defender - Sandi/Clarke/Griff (Especially concious of Sandi)
3rd Defender - Marsh/Morabito (Either to tall or quick you'd ASSUME)
4th Defender - Fyfe/Barlow/Mundy (Surely Fyfe particularly to strong in air and likely to good on grounf)
5th Defender (2nd Small - Attackin) - Mayne (DEFENSIVE FORWARD however also strong mark and kick 1/2 goals a game)
6th Defender (1st Small) - Ballas/Walters/Crozier/Neale (nothing unusual there)

Guys and girls lets be sure on at least 1 thing Gumbelton is an accident waiting to happen and I would be VERY surprised if we went after him given his record at Essendon for finding ways to get injured and missing the rest of the season . Essendon tried every which way to get him in their line up for bloody years and failed ,like Brown of years gone by his body CAN'T TAKE IT.

The club must have their eye on someone but every time we throw a line in the water we get Blowies when it comes down to it .
Buddy was talking to Sydney ever since last years grand final .
We need to look at how the other clubs are able to get the players to switch clubs and take a leaf out of their book or better still hire the deal makers that have a proven record at getting their man .
We have the financial resources and the salary cap room to buy who ever we want ,we just can't get anyone to sign on the bottom line of the contract.
Sydney have signed Buddy to a 9 year contract of which he will only play 3 or 4 and the rest will be his retirement fund and Sydney looking for 2 flags then scrapping the barrel and getting draftees till the salary cap is back in shape .
Its a big gamble but if it works they get another 2 flags heaps of publicity and more fans through the gate .

I've been watching all the posts on this subject and the name missing IMHO is Westhoff and I'm trying to think of why .
He's the right age ,height experience and the type of player that would suit us down to the ground .
With the right offer he would be gettable at the right price and we wouldn't have to mortgage the future to get him .
the other players that have impressed me with their football skills are
2. Tom Lynch from Adelaide
3. Jason Winderlinch from Essendon
4.Scott Thompson from North Melb
5.Mitch Hibberd from Essendon
6. Ben Reid from Collingwood

Non of these players are going to break the bank and are mostly flying under the radar and they are all good footballers of the right age and coachable in the RTB mould.

I seriously would like your comments on these players .

If we offer the right trades and or draft picks there could be some real benefits for the club and we fill in the missing pieces for the next few years .

The best thing about the deals is we give our up and coming players time to develop.

Reid an Thompson are impossible to get this year. However i believe Reid is FA next year and this is why i'd target his brother. Both can play Forward or Back and we could switch them around at will.
Also why I like Hogan is he is a absolute Beast up forward but a wall down back, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" type. Get Sam coz Buddy come's then get him to tell Ben how good we are and how good a coach Ross is and Convince Ben to come. Back ended contracts running out at DIFfERENT TIMES so that they stay with each other and do not leave as a pair. Also get the Pav/Mcpharlin/Sandi money.

I've recognised the hype of getting Hogan but he is still an untried Rookie the players I've listed are established and recognisable talent but with the exception on Westhoff none would be on big salaries .
So an offer that is better than what they are getting and a long contract ie 4 years would certainly get them interested as none of them are over aged mega stars .
Westhoff is the only one on serious money but would cost us less than Nick " Rewalled "

Yes you are right - we need to think laterally (eg swans/buddy). Not just tie ourselves to the known possibilities.
Something tells me there is an eruption about to take place at the Saints. Senior players ready to go marching out. Blind freddy could tell we need a ready-to-go key forward to top up our flag tilt in 2014.
So.................. wrap up our first and third pick + player or whatever it may take to re-unite RTB with Nick Riewoldt. Then see if we could perhaps sway Jesse White to forget Collingwood with an offer too good to refuse.
This is our time people. We must be bold and serious enough to give up some value to grab our chance.
Anyone agree?

agree to an extent, don't want to jeopardise future, SOO depends on what other picks we can get and how our recruiters rate the draft.

P.S sorry to intrude + I'm not delusional, why would freo bother with his injury record.

fit season just then, good player when up and running and fills a need. Better for us than he is for essendon.
We know you rate him on your board to, so don't pretend there's no point.
Best option left, either him or J-Pod, can guarantee you he wasnt top of list.

If you use the Hawthorn model they got expierenced players for a top up of their list and traded draft picks .
We have a spercific need to strenghten our team so we have lead the league in recruiting mature age players now we need to go after players in a different way and look at players with the right skills to slot into our team that are under paid or under valued by their club and offer like Sydney a longer contract and a good salary to go with it .
We have the room in our salary cap to cope with getting a free agency top liner at the right age group
But with Potsiali not offered a contract from Geelong a 1 year deal could be a good deal for us and him.

Read my comments on Gumby on the Essendon board I'm not delusional , I would be happy for him to stay as depth but he was fit all this season and couldn't break into the Essendon best 22.

Essendon doesn’t have a strong forward line either, so should of been easy to break into.

My last post, I'm just surprised that he is actually a serious option for you guys.

Carry on.

Beggars can't be choosers.

I think being in Perth is the only reason why we can't land the big fish, so to speak. The travel factor would affect a lot of guys decision making - and if a guy wants a move, and he's already in Melbourne, he's immediately got 8/9 other possibilities where he doesn't have to uproot and start again in another city. And then Sydney and Adelaide - and even Brissie - have it over us in that they aren't travelling in a plane 3-4 hours every second week, so there's less of a toll on players that way.

Don't be fooled that because we are in a "football state" it is easier for us to attract players (or cheaper to live here). Even the 'go home' factor doesn't compensate - it's not at all unusual for WA boys to move between clubs in Melbourne once they've settled there, rather than head back to Perth.

Guys from Vic know how hard it is for the BIG BOOM recruit to get a fair go in the media - Croad and Tarrant, and to a lesser degree McPhee and Anthony have shown that if you are not from WA and you are traded to Freo, you have to perform at 10% above expectations to be given a fair ride by the footy media here. Makes guys a bit gun shy I reckon.

His past history with injury has been terrible so why would we bother

Not sure if he's been mentioned but why don't we have a crack at Sam Reid from Sydney? he's going to be 3rd in line behind Tippet and Franklin. I think he'd be a good fit, not sure what it would take to get the deal done, maybe our first and 2nd picks in this years draft
