Good Morning All
Does anyone know the if you can still take a previously listed player by doing a deal with Gold Coast or GWS, I cant remember the exact scenario here but seem to remember that you could do this the last couple of years. I am thinking Thorp or Pods here.

This can not happen any more, GC\gws only had 2 years to do this.

Pods is easy to get. You just tell him you want him, and if the feeling is mutual figure out where to take him. Geelong will help him get somewhere too.

Sort of... as he was not offered an extension to his contract at Geelong he is now an unrestricted free agent. Which means we don't need to take him with a draft pick, same deal as Danyle Pearce and Colin Sylvia.

Sam Reid is a solid prospect which meets a need, happy to give to get the guy, but he is a 21yo promising CHF... any deal would be unsavoury to say the least

They might trade the #2 pick for him though, which we could ontrade to GWS either as a straight swap for Patton or together with a player and get #1 and take boyd.

As much as I love Hilly, we have 4 very good guys on the sidelines who could play his position: Morabito, Sheridan, Crozier, Sylvia.

We aren't going to trade our engine room(barlow mundy and fyfe), and none of our other players would be worth much at the trade table. He's pretty much the only player who we can afford to lose that would have any currency.

Not sure on Hill for Reid, I get the feeling Sydney would jump at that. I'm not sure how good Sam Reid actually is.

As much as I'd love Morabito to stay fit, I don't think we can count on him to be the silver bullet for our midfield or forward line. We'll keep him on the list and see if he holds together (because we'll get nothing for him in trade), but these people that have him dropping straight into our midfield are ... optimistic.

Just read on al.com.au negotiations for Crameri way off the mark between Essendon and Western Bulldogs. Crameri is 190cm and 95kgs. He may be slightly undersized for a key forward, but if we recruited him opposition teams would definitely struggle to match up on a forward six group with the speed of Crameri, Mayne, Pav, Sylvia, Walters and Ballas. It wouldn't be a conventional forward line, but it would be a forward group that could apply supreme pressure and would be near impossible to match up on the counter attack due to the collective pace of the group. To me Crameri (who has amazing speed) suits the RTB games style wonderfully. We could still afford to offer the same contract as the Western Bulldogs we just need to offer a better deal than them. Some here might say that my proposed deal of Michie and our first pick is too much for Crameri, but I think he would tremendous in our playing style.

Mellington and our 2nd. Not Michie and our 1st. Don't know if Mellington and our 2nd is better than pick 24 or whatever the dogs are offering though, probably not in Essendon's eyes, seeing as they don't have any 1st or 2nd round picks.

Crameri would be good but I think he has his heart set on the Bulldogs. Apparently has a great relationship with Brendan McCartney and would probably require a lot to convince him to move state.

The negotiations 'off the mark' is normal on the first day of the trade period. They will agree on something within the last two days.
