What about a Podsiadly type selection, i.e an experienced state league key forward in their late 20's that can come in and potentially fill a role for 2-3 years? I have to have faith that at least one of Taberner, Smith or even Howson can provide the long term solution, but i'm not kidding myself that it's going to come before 2015 at the earliest.

I guess the first question is whether someone that can do that even exists.

Justin Hardy kicked 4 for Central Districts 2 weeks ago. There was talk last year that we could look at him.

I highly doubt one exists that would be worthy of helping us Rob,unfortunately.

Anyone talking about Jesse White? I've been really impressed with his athleticism in the past month. Today he looked right at home on the wide expanses of Subiaco. Sydney simply don't need him with all of their tall options. Could some sort of trade be done?

I have said this the last 3 months. I reckon he would be good for 2-3 years as we develop our key forwards.

I think he could be even better than useful for 2-3 years. He's currently 25 so is 'coming into his prime' as a KPF. He seems to have lost some weight and built his tank. Moved really well today and looked quick and competent below his knees, which were criticisms of him in years gone by.

I genuinely think we're kidding ourselves if we think we're getting any established forwards moving to us from Victorian clubs. We've been linked with almost every single one of them but every time nothing comes of it. This kind of player is much more what we should be in the market for. I have complete faith in Ross to get the best out of him as well!

Best thing about Jesse White is that he will come cheaply this season when we get by a trade. Might even get him in the PSD.

2 years ago Freo would of been forced to cough up a 1st round pick because of his age.

I've been looking at the options on this front for years. (since Podsiadly) 90% the leading goalkickers are either tried and failed at AFL options or small forwards (and/or medium forwards)

Four Names
Mitch Thorp- ex hawthorn. Had attitude problems but has mentioned he wants another go.
25 years old, 46 goals this season in TSL

Josh Smith- big lump of a player but wasn't able to put it together at North. Leading Key Forward in the wafl
27 years old, 46 goals this season in WAFL

Justin Hardy- I've already said I liked the look of this guy last year. Hasn't been used as a forward much this year but as ruckman I believe. Kicked a bag last year but not this year.
25 years old, 21 goals this season in SANFL (kicked a lot more last year)

Michael Lourey- all I've read about him is he has limitations but he just keeps getting goals year after year
24 years old, 45 goals in the VFL

Was just thinking we have Griffin, Clarke and Hannath. Do we really need Moller as a ruck? Is it possible we could even use Moller as a forward? He's extremely athletic for a big fella. Same problems as outlined before as he won't be ready anytime soon but is this a genuine possibility?

Exactly my point we need players ready to go. Maybe we can take a punt again this year and hope we get the right players in the draft but its more than likely such players won't be ready in 2015. Even Thorp I would imagine would not have close to preparation required to play straight away by playing in the TSL. Can someone let us know of any other mature age forwards? I was keen on Justin Hardy last year but seems he's fallen right off the radar.
I liked the look of him too. Think he may have had a bit of injury this year. But still worth some thought IMO.

Not sure about Moller, but we can certainly use Griffin as a key forward. He has played well there in the times he's gone there before he did his knee.

Lots of interesting suggestions in this thread but with Butcher, my understanding is he only wants to go back to Victoria if he leaves Port, he isn't coming to WA.

Why not? Clarke certainly isn't a forward IMO. Perhaps Griffin could be second ruck similar to the West Coast set up where Cox is the second ruck simply because he's a better forward.

McGuane? Jesus. The list of crabs in this thread keeps getting worse. Why might as well bring Brendan Fewster out of retirement.

Well Freo are not going to Pay buddy Franklin 1.5 million a year to lure him back to WA. So what are your suggestions?

My suggestion would be that there is no need to talk up every single player who is over 190cm that has at some stage played football.

The only feasible option that I see is Gumbleton for a 3rd rounder. Better options have been talked about in Riewoldt and Black, but that's not going to happen. Someone mentioned Crameri ... he is more like Mayne than a KPF, but at least he can play. That's really about it that I can think of.

We should also be concocting a plan to somehow convince Hogan to leave Melbourne.

I have So far delcared Getting Jesse White from the Swans or Mckernan from the Crows.

Considering Freos history of getting mature aged players like barlow or Mzungu, Would there be any Key forwards in the WAFL aged between 21-25?

Jesse White is my choice also. I'm with you on this maniac.

People need to get a grip here. Just cos players like White and McGuane don't play go us doesn't you have to rate them as spuds while defending lesser players already on our list. We are never to have 22 superstars, serviceable players are part of every premiership team. The two above have contributed goals when playing, (and at a very respectable rate this season) not exactly Steven Dodd or Raph Clarke types that people make them out to be.

Most ruckmen are not that good as forwards. But should be tried at some stage. Having impoact forwards will surely make him more valuable...

Well your not the only one seeing the improvement in Jesse White fm.OTC were talking up the improvement in J.White too.I believe he"d be a super handy addition to our list. With money to burn and RTB's history of targetting established players from other AFL clubs, you'd think he would be on our radar.

My concerns are as follows.
Bradley, age and knee recon.
Griffen, knee recon.
Sandilands, age and injury concerns.
Pavlich, as above.
Mcpharlin, age.
Silvagni, in and out of the team, can he find a spot?
Faulks, hasn't played for Freo in two years?
Forster, just starting to show something in wafl.
Sandilands, Griffen are covered by our depth in the ruck, I don't think we can be too pedantic, who ever we think is a good match, or has huge upside, make it happen.
